Just write something about how all the fad diets come and go, give some examples, but then emphasize the best way to change your body comp. for the better is a consistent diet and exercise, then give some examples.  Just don't write anything to over their heads, I challenged my nutrition prof in college a lot when he would bad mouth any supplement out there. He hated me, especially whenever I'd end up benching next to him at the Rec Center.  ;D

yeah, i'm gonna do all that, but i have to make a speech on it too, trying to have interesting things to talk about, plus i have to back alot of it up with facts, unfortunately they need to be published, so i'm trying to filter through...

A great resource for you would be current and/or back issues of "Muscular Development" magazine.  Every single source is listed behind each article.  So you'll be able to take whatever information from the magazine and list the actual published study as your source and no one would be able to argue.

I would suggest using only a handgul of facts.  Trust me, I graduated with a degree in Nutrition and the more facts you spew the more apt you are to lose your audience.  If i were you, i would hit the pros and cons of the main stream diets and emphasize behavioral modification.  The college library should have copies of many nutrition publications that have solid studies.  Again, i would make it simple and not throw out to many facts and figures.  Side by side chart comparisons will be useful also.

The ideas are great, but I want something I can research, like what diets do you guys think failed?  What do you guys think are the best foods to eat and when..?  Stuff like that..

thanks,
jamie

basically any diet is bullshit. you need to make lifestyle changes.  like increase the cocaine intake and lower the alcohol and you lose 5 lbs right away

If you wanna get controversial, try to back up a "high protein diet."  Well, an english professor wouldn't know much about this, but I'd bet 95% of the people on this board take more protein than is "recommended" and most pencil neck scientists say that there is NO need for more than .8 g/kg protein per day ::)  ::)  Go figure...I've gotten into my share of debates with professors ;D
