Never, NEVER happening. Ill be the first to admin Jonah was a complete freak of nature but there's no danger he was ever touching that much weight for singles never mind 8.
-
Not happening - he was a freak but those numbers are an exaggeration
-
All of the above.

How can you doubt the man with that physique.....
Side note - The day these pics were taken he was in my class... There was 6 in the class, but his manager cried to the judges to get him in another class where there was one person. They bent the rules and did so.
Why? So in the paper they could say he came 2nd rather than 7th.
Pathetic.

I think its believable. If you saw the power and speed this guy combined back in the day.He ran through other big players like they were nothing.A true freak of nature :)

It's 825 pounds, man! One frigging rep using singly-ply lifting gear would be an incredible accomplishment!
Do you have even the slightest clue about this weight training thing?!

I don't know shit about rugby.
But I'm a big NFL fan; and a guy THAT BIG able to move THAT FAST is a freak of nature.
I heard Jerry Jones gave this guy a shot, but he didn't understand American football and didn't make first cut. Too bad because he could've been a force.

This is the best example of Lomu at his Rugby playing best. Like a man among boys. He was the greatest athlete in the world in these days.
The last few seconds when he swats 250lb players aside like flies is most impressive.

I remember as a kid watching JL play, how lucky we were to have such an amazing player in our childhood. Bigger than most forwards and faster than most backs. Just a freak!
-
He forgot to convert from lbs to kg.
-
I would say 550 - 600 lbs for a few reps. and I am being really generous, probably 500 lbs in reality, considering his height
-
Damn that dude's fast :o

Speaking as someone who has trained along side Lomu in his prime (not with him just in the same gym) what utter bollocks. Possible that he was doing partial and heavily assisted reps with that weight but if anyone was to say, even a full unassisted single with that weight, I'm afraid it is a lie.
I've trained with and alongside some very strong bodybuilders/strongmen and for reps on squats the best I have ever personally seen was the following:
amateur bodybuilder weighing in around 320 pounds squatting 575 for 12 fullish reps.
A strongman competitor, who must have weighed around 350-360 pounds at the time and taller than me by at least a few inches, I'm guessing 6' 8 ish squatting butt to the floor over 600 pounds for 12. Also watched this guy do reverse grip bench press with 300 pounds for 40 reps like it was nothing. Not saying these guys are exceptional but having personally witnessed it was pretty impressive.
Also, a former world powerlifting champion who became a bodybuilder (who competed at I believe around 230 pounds or just less than that) I watched do 400 pound bench with basically perfect form for 10 reps at around his competition bb weight. Thing that sticks in my mind about that is he basically failed on reps 11 and 12, paused on both reps with the bar on his chest and then just exploded it up, couple of inches at a time and only just managed to rack it on the 12th. That was pretty impressive.

Guy would make a great NFL fullback!
