So, if you're not into all the funny loser stories, here's one you'll enjoy instead:  the beach volleyball?

Olympics beach volleyball: Third straight gold for American pair

By Tom Rostance
BBC Sport at Horse Guards Parade
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings won their third consecutive Olympic beach volleyball gold with an emphatic win over fellow Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross.
May-Treanor and Walsh-Jennings have never lost a match at the Olympics and have only ever dropped only one set.

Misty is the best there has ever been and she is like my sister - she has changed my life

Kerri Walsh-Jennings
Beach volleyball champion
They were always in control and won 21-16 21-16 in just 36 minutes.
Brazil's Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva beat China's Chen Xue and Xi Shang 11-21 21-19 15-12 for bronze.
May-Treanor, 35, said before the Games that she would retire after the tournament, but 33-year-old Walsh-Jennings intends to continue playing.
Kessy and Ross started brightly to take an early lead but the champions soon rallied to take the first set.
Roared on by a capacity crowd, including double Olympic champion Laura Trott, May-Treanor repeatedly flung herself around the back of the court to make point-saving interventions, while partner Walsh was an impassable force at the net.
Walsh brought up match point with another huge block at the net and the match was sealed when Ross served out.
"It's hard to stay on top," said May-Treanor after confirming her retirement.

Belgian cyclist Gijs Van Hoecke has been sent home from the Olympic Games after he was pictured looking worse for wear after a boozy night out.

The 20-year-old was caught on camera being carried out of London nightclub Mahiki with his top and jeans drenched.

Friends, including teammate Jonathan Dufrasne, managed to haul the young cyclist into a taxi, where he appeared to fall asleep.

While he was jokingly awarded the gold medal for partying, the Belgian Olympic Committee failed to see the funny side.

Van Hoecke, who came 15th in the men’s omnium on Sunday, was ordered to pack his bags and was sent straight home.

German Discus Gold Medallist Tears Off His Shirt

Then he takes a running jump at the Olympic flame, does a mad dance with his flag, sees that the Hurdles lanes are empty so goes and runs over all of them.

Then he stays up all night painting the town red (maybe at Mahiki or perhaps a different nightclub).

A few hours later, in the morning, he is found passed out either on a train or at a train station...

He too has been asked to leave London.

Nowadays you can get into Mahiki in trainers.  They've done away with their dress code for two weeks.

Previously they were so strict about what one ought wear...

Nike?  Addias?  Do come on in.  Oh hello.  Here's a drink.  Welcome.
Then they have the papparazi all queueing up to take pix of you when you come out at 3am.

You mean Gabby Douglas and her "deadbeat" dad, who happens to be stationed in the Air Force National Guard in the middle east, Mom on fake medical disability, multiple "baby daddy", bankruptcy filing, no leaving Olympic tickets for the dad, scamming from the government, living room and board free off the "white family" that "messed up" her hair.....wonderful Olympic story that NBC will never mention?
