Title: pictures of grieving kitten who refused to leave dead companion's side
Post by: Army of One on August 08, 2012, 10:49:42 PM
 :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

This heartbreaking photo shows a 'grieving' kitten refusing to leave the side of a pal after they were knocked down and killed by a car.

The devoted kittens had been playing in the streets together and were crossing the road when the ginger moggie was hit by a car in Xi’an, western China.

As the kitten lay dying in the road, its white furry pal couldn't bear to leave his mate and even tried to encourage it to feed by nuzzling its mouth.

In more heart-wrenching scenes it then attempted to keep its pal warm by lying on top of them.

Animal lover Sun Lin said: "It was alive to start with but couldn't move its back legs. I put some food out for it but it was too far gone."

In the end, the kitten's injuries were too severe and it later died. But when locals collected the kitten's body for burial, its companion still refused to let them go and jumped into the box being used to bury them

I'll just pretend that was photoshoped so I won't feel bad. As much as I find cast cute and such. They're dumb as shit when it comes to crossing the street.

Guniea pigs eat their babies.  I was traumatized as a child when I went to check on my guniea pigs one morning and discovered she had eaten her babies.   :-X

My cat sleeps with me every night, and when I am in the living room, I sit in a big comfy recliner, and she always jumps up and curls up at my feet, she is warming my feet as I post this.  I consider myself a rugged type of man, but gee my cat is so cute I just wanna rub her little face, and make little baby ohh and ahh sounds, I tell her I love her repetitively and she swishes her tail after every time I say it.  I know I am going to get shit for this post, But I love my cat more than anything.

A few more pics, see I'm like a teenager on facebook when it comes to my cat!  I rescued her from the pound when I went there to adopt a dog, but left with this little girl instead.  When the lady at the pound gave her to me they discovered she was pregnant, and they had to abort the kittens due to their policy.  So the poor girl had this dirty great big Plastic cone on her head for the first few weeks because she kept trying to pull out her stitches.  She was bumping into everything, it's like she wouldn't realise she would have this thing on her head and she would still try and get into spaces she was normally able too.  I was glad when they took it off her, it annoyed the hell out of her, she kept trying to get it off.  Poor thing

Aww sad  :'( Cat's and dogs are family and you do get attached to them, it's good to see another cat/dog/pet lover out there - so sad when you see or hear of mistreated animals at the hand of humans..

Cool Cat. I often marvel how deeply relaxed cats can get, I envy them, they go from a deep meditative relaxed state, to full attention and I'm going to rip a heart out in a millionth of a second.  Cats never allowed themselves to become as domesticated as the dog, they still retain their independence to a large degree, and the predatory drive and reflexes are still there.  My cat loves people but can't get along with my partners male cat, she constantly hisses at him and attempts to paw him now and again, I wish they would get along.  He for the most part ignores it, he is twice her size, but she just doesn't like him.

If a cat pisses on anything of value in your home, especially furniture....throw it out because it's ruined. You'll never get cat piss smell out of furniture no matter how hard you try.

cats are no joke either....

related story to E-kule getting fucked up by a dog, but not as bad.

Me and my friends were hanging after hours at a local dive bar, getting fucked up and playing darts..The Sun's coming up and one dude slips out the back, and a big-ass stray cat slips in the door. We know nothing until we hear shit banging and clanging under the bar where the pumps and shit are...they put down those glue traps for mice and the cat had one stuck on it's paw and was flipping the fuck out, big time. it was a big fucking cat and one dude grabs a broom and tries to coax it towards the back and out from under the bar.

bad move, the cat launched itself at his face, he blocked it with his arm....and this cat ripped his arm to shreds, there was blood everywhere. nothing really deep or life threatening, but it sliced his arm up pretty good. we had to pry it off of his arm and fling it out the back door, and he had to go to the ER

there is a way to have the cat never do that again. It's cruel but works. After the cat pisses on the furniture or whatever, take the cat by the neck, rub it savagely in the furniture, then throw it against the wall.

It will never do that again.

Your "system" mate is not only useless but also cruel.
I have cats since I was a kid: this behaviour means that he is not at ease with something. In this case it's because he's new of the house and does not know the elders: maybe one of the adults to prove it's their territory let not him go in his correct place to "do his job", believe me I've seen this many many times.
After few days it's all over and everybody is happy.
The solution is simple: just add another tray (don't know the word sorry) for the newcomer.
See? No need to hurt the little puppy
The sofa?
I don't give a flying shit and it's already in the trash, I made more damages to it myself over the years...

Oh brotha. Show me the evidence for this?

If he is replacing cats with humans, than maybe he has some issues going on. But if he can still maintain human relationships and just likes the company of cats, then no, it is not a mental illness.

I stated the last part.
Where I have worked, we've have had mutiple (many) cases where people who have had many cats and there were issues. One famous case, a woman had over 200 cats (many sticking to the floor), the house stank, she never really fed them. She was an old single lady who used to be a doctor. I've talked with other people, in my field, and they have noticed this as well with multiple cats (I set the start of it at 4).
I don't give a damn what you say, there is a issue when people go above 3 cats. I've seen too many cases, and talked to too many people, and have witnessed women (it's typically women) who start collecting cats.
Now, they may have had an issue before hand and this is just a symtom.
Some of this people still maintain human relationships, albeit, the more cats, the more reclusive they become. It's like the more the number grows, the more reclusive and or weirder they become.

I am a cat lover and I own several and I also now have a pet possumn which just wanders inside my home.  I leave the security screen open for my cats and when I am in the kitchen the possumn just walks inside and I give her something to eat.  She comes around mostly during the day now which is quite rare for a possumn as they are nocturnal.

I have 4 cats..3 rescued and 1 bought.  The only reason I don't have a dog is because they are very high maintenance.  I don't have a fenced in yard either.  Cats rule though so I will gladly take the "not rugged" tag..lol.

a common problem occurring all too frequently when the well-meaning but untrained public tries raising wildlife. Most likely the opossum is suffering from a diet-induced disorder. The opossum may have what is known as Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), also known as rickets, osteomalacia and secondary nutritional hyperparathyroidism. Opossums have specific dietary needs which must be met or crippling and/or life-threatening disorders will develop. MBD is preventable! If the opossum does not receive an adequate amount of calcium and in the correct calcium to phosphorous ratio then MBD is highly likely to be the cause. Common signs of MBD include weakness, anorexia, inability to grip, unable or unwilling to move, a bowlegged or “frog-like” appearance, brittle and easily fractured bones, bone deformities, swollen joints and a “rubber jaw”. In more severe cases the internal organs will be affected and death may occur. Contact a local wildlife rehabilitator or veterinarian immediately. The opossum must be properly diagnosed and then receive a correct diet in additional to any necessary treatments and supportive care.

I feed her a vegan diet.  She's pregnant so there will be another little bundle soon.   ;D

Cheesecake and any leftover on the plate for some animals is not good for them ,meats cheeses and even breads especially with wheat - clueless people should check before feeding wild animals as they have differing dietary needs to domesticated animals - it's like chocolate and dogs  :-\

Animals don't grieve, we only interpret it like that...

Untrue. They do grieve. They just display it differently.

The possumns that live here are living in a built up area and would steal food out of peoples rubbish bins etc.  I dare say they would be more used to our diets as compared to say a possumn who lives totally in the bush.  My doctor has a family of possumns that have been living in his yard for over ten years and he feeds them the same diet as what I feed mine and they are totally healthy.  I try to stick to a vegan diet, but sometimes I do find myself giving her treats such as left over cheesecake and cookies etc.  Most of the time though she gets fruit and left over veges and homemade soups.  If I don't feed her she bites me on the toe until I do.   ;D  She doesn't always want food though...sometimes she just comes up to me for a rub on her back.  She will sit at my feet until I pet her.

My labrador retriever lived until she was 13 and she ate everything including cake and chocolate.  I never had any health issues with her.  She was a little fatty though, but most labs are.   ;D

Yes she is more like one of the cats.  Even my cats play with her and eat food together out of the same plate sometimes.  I will put a plate of veges out for her and one of my cats will come along and have a taste.   ;D  There is no fighting amongst them or anything...they all get along like family.
Our possumns here are from the same family as the kangaroo which is why they look so different to your yanky possumns.

I have known people who have fed chocolate to there dogs also and they seemed ok, but the proof is there that it can lead to shock and death in dogs - there are some even though it is there in black and white that they are wrong and is clear to all around them - they still carry on with simple ignorant justifications just because they can never admit they are wrong - these people are plainly just not right in the head and very simple - usely they will tell everyone they are smart when they are clearly stupid.. that's not directed at yourself PumpInPeace, just the type of person these dimwits usely are  ;)

This proves that you are a certifiable lunatic. Anybody who has 4 or more cats has serious mental problems....
2 cats ok, 3 cats, there is the beginning of a problem. By 4, you have reached some type of mental illness.

Taking the last 3 at home was not planned: problem is you could hear these 3 little cats screaming and I found out they were in a warehouse near my home.
The owner of the warehouse said he was going to drown them so I decided to take them with me.
I was thinking to give them to a lady I know who lives in the country.
One of them was also ill and almost died twice: I rush her to the first aid for animals (correct word??), made x-ray, then echography, buy medicines...
They were so little I had to feed them every two hours with a bottle like the one you use for babies (only smaller), it was devastating hear that fucking alarm and wake up during the night so they didn't lose their anabolic window (this is for 240).
Long story short: I kept all three and now we're six  ;D

You have to excuse Parker.  Where he comes from it is perfectly normal to train pitbulls to fight to the death.  That's entertainment for them.

Fucking jerks try to pull that shit all the time so you'll take the cats.  I went a step further last time when a school custodian said he was going to throw some kittens into a river if we couldn't take them.  I acted like I was nuts and told him I'd kill them on the spot.  He changed his tune real fast.....

Not always - Pit Bulls 6 Times More Likely to Attack Their Owners - Out of 143 Pit Bull attacks, 19 (13.3%) involved attacks on the owners; out of 135 attacks by other breeds' only 3 (2.2%) involved the owner." Ever heard of Darla Napora.  Darla Napora was an advocate for the breed, a member of BAD RAP - a group dedicated to convincing others that Pitbulls are not a vicious breed,  anyway her Pitbull murdered her while she was pregnant, and her husband, true to Pit Nutter form, still refused to accept that Pitbulls were dangerous and buried his dead wife with the Pitbull that killed her.
There are many more Pitbulls out there who have attacked and killed their owners.  Many of these cases were of Pitbulls raised in loving environments.

This proves that you are a certifiable lunatic. Anybody who has 4 or more cats has serious mental problems....
2 cats ok, 3 cats, there is the beginning of a problem. By 4, you have reached some type of mental illness.

These are ignorant statements.  Off course you get wackos with 100 cats who abuse them etc.  But like the Italian Lifter I too have more than 2 cats.  I would never have chose to have more than 2, but basically I have rescued a few from bad situations.

BTW I have 3 cats.

Same with dogs.  I have 2, one of which would have been put down had I not taken her in.
