Title: shoulder/triceps advice
Post by: macdre4ever on November 17, 2005, 06:31:05 PM
hey guyys
i was wondering what are the best exerses (mass builders) for the shoulders and triceps?

this is my shoulders/triceps routine right now
shoulder press
seated side laterals
bent laterals
close grip bench press
lying extenions
pushdowns on pushdowns. i dont feel it helping me anymore bc even at the  fall stack i can rep out 20 reps.i wanted to do exerises that hits all three heads. i was thinking about repeacing it with db overhead extenions. so what are you guys view on my routine?? im trying to get more mass in my shoulders/triceps.  i have good biceps and forearms. oh and its 4sets each and 6-8 reps.

Try doing seated push press in a rep scheme like this 7x12,8,6,4,6,8,12 and try doing side laterals like ronnie does em with ascending sets. For triceps I suggest u start out with kick backs to pre exhaust and then go to pressdowns then weighted dips, closegrip, and then single db extensions. Keep changin shit around triceps need volume.

Dips dont do jack for my chest compared to presses. THey do hit the tri's good tho, no doubt.

for shoulders i like to start with side laterals and then do my presses and i find dumbbell work the best but every 3rd workout i'll do barbell.  for tris i start with either close grip press or weighted dips usually alternate work out by workout ex today im doing presses not dips. but my workout is different every time.

>Standing Db Presses, Barbell Clean & Press, High Pulls, Db upright Rows

>Parallel bar Tricep Dips,  Barbell Pullover & Press,  Decline Db exts.

Rotate these exercises often and work diligently to perfect the movement. Drop your weights by 20% and contract the muscles being worked as hard as possible.  These are cornerstone.

Your elbows must be tucked in tight against your body for max tri involvement, keep your body straight up and down..   For Pecs , elbows wide and chest out as far as possible, the wider the hand spacing the better.
