I agree.....it does suck that they are splitting this season in half and you gotta wait until next year to see what happens

it would be good to wait but might be hard to avoid people talking about it for a couple weeks after this last episode.

I just rented last season and have this season DVR'd.

Bryan Cranston is awesome. I think it's funny that Jessies friend, the bigger white guy does cartoon voices for Disney....

One of the best shows on TV. Meth is bad where I live ( the whole fucking state) so I see lower level walts all the time on the news. A Guy got busted last week with over 30 small labs in his house and had a child living there and his girlfriend, the fire dept. Had to put on air supplied respirators to remove the labs.... how in the fuck do you raise a kid in that.

I have been watching the first three seasons on netflix. I remembered why I quit watching it - the audio fucking sucks. Whats the sense of filming a show if the viewer can`t hear the dialogue, its as bad as watching that mutant julia roberts, I can`t ever hear a word that bitch says.
Crappy sound aside its still a good show, I really like Sauls character and its neat to watch Heisenberg develop.

Amazing show! Meth is at epedemic proportions in the usa and west coast of Canada, and this show is just a brilliant way of giving us great entertainment and some reality.

The character heisenberg is somewhat based on the king of Crytsal meth a Myth and legend Uncle Fester. Uncle Fester is just similar to walt a man with a chemistry degree who lived somewhere in middle america. He was known as uncle fester because of the easy explosives he could put together! Then he started to cook meth always with pseudoephedrine  and also p2p like walt.uncle Fester is the best meth cook in the usa but he fnally got busted and started selling his recipes on the  net and he made alot of money and got alot of fame. Even though he was being mentioned in the public now nobody has seen his face he never went on camera or did interviews for $. Uncle Fester is the Man. a true clandestine meth genious with a real chemistry degree. he is a meth myth/legend a real walter white.

Smoked or injected = most psychologically addicting substance ever. It's pretty much Satans drug.

I smoked it.  No doubt it gave a euphoric feeling but I couldn't stop talking and my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. I was constantly sweating and was drinking water to help.  After a while (24 hours) I just wanted to sleep so I took a couple klonopin, a bowl of weed and one of those neurosleep drinks.  I was out for 12 hours.  I woke up and felt like a new man and knew I'd never do it again. Didn't like the amped feeling.  I'm a downers guy.  If you thrive on excitement and risk, I see the attraction to Meth.

There are only two more drugs I'll try.  X and DMT....maybe shrooms.

X is a waste of time and money. And you're right, I was an adrenaline junkie. Although I did go on a major downed kick post meth and before I got sober.... Heroin is pretty evil as well.

Its very similar to Meth (as it usually has a high meth content cut into it), just with a more mood elevating effect, not euphoria exactly, just a pleasant happy feeling. Not worth the money.

Probably not. If you weren't able to on Meth, you probably wont be able to on X. Its a stimulant just like the others. As I said, MDMA is made with Amphetamines, and then the X pills usually are also cut with Meth.

Correct, Heroin is physically addicting, Meth is psychologically addicting.
Heroin you will have physical pain from w/d's, meth you'll just be depressed and want to sleep.

that new helper (todd?) will try to take walt's crown.

He didn''t even want money for being an assistant.  He wants that skill, that's what he wants.

he's clearly a psycopath and will emerge as the new kingpen when the show ends, I think.  Walt is on the run, i'm betting it's Todd running the drug business.

"Probably" not?  So you don't have first-hand experience with X (not fucking on it, anyway) even though you seem to have such a strong (negative) opinion of it??

I call BS.

Wiggs, X is the funnest thing ever.  Besides making most people "emotionally unavailable" for a few days afterwards, X also gets a little less fun every time you do it, so it's not likely to become a real addiction.

BTW, you WILL need ED drugs to have intercourse on X.  But sex on E is great -- your sense of touch is heightened (having your girl lightly scratch her nails over your scalp is almost orgasmic) plus its entactogenic and empathogenic qualities make it great for one-on-one sex with your significant other.

Last week Walt showed Hank his new watch that Jesse gave him for his birthday...I think Walt will leave that watch at the scene somewhere and thats how Hank will be on to Walt....

Also that new guy cooking with Hank took the little boy's jar with the spider in it....that jar has the little boy's prints all over it...that will come back into play somehow....

Walt's wife is obviously suicidal......she may take herself out....

Walt will ultimately die..he has to...he's killed too many people and fucked up too many lives

Wtf are you going on about? I have more 1st hand experience with these drugs than o care to remember. But eveyone is different, I'm telling wiggs that if he couldn't fuck on meth, then he probably won't be able to on X. Jesus Christ, reading comprehension guy.
My "negative" opinion stems from the fact that its a bitches version of meth, to me its a waste of tome and money when I could just use meth and get a better and more intense high.

X is fantastic but generalizing it as one drug is a big mistake there so many varieties of it that you can't just say X as X there's some with uppers some with downers some with who knows what's in it some pure form the best ones I've ever had with the ones labeled Eurodollars had a euro dollar stamp right on top most of the good stuff comes from Israel. But the man when you're on X you just have the best feeling in the world one common thing is to take vicks VapoRub and rub it on your chest it kind of gives you this warm cool feeling and your  skin is already tingling from it and just getting massages feel so good and definitely fucking on it is the best feeling of your life you can't even explain how good. the only problem is having sex again without it you can actually be down a little bit. I have taken at times anywhere from six to 8 x tablets in one night plus smoking A ton of weed, but man I had a great time

Best show ever. This show is not going to end on a happy note. this is supposed to be a view of some man's rise to being a drug kingpin and then his big downfall I can't see anything positive happening at the end everyone he's ever loved is going to die probably will die they think in the end is probably going to end up with Hank just finding out what he did.

I'm still on the fence about Todd ,something creepy about that guy. can he take over, will he take over, who the heck knows. But there's definitely something up with this character

Mike mentioned Todd had connections and was no one to worry about.  I think Walt and Jesse were worried about the dude.  These connections will bump off Jesse for sure and thats why Walt is on the run.

Oh I know! Pseudo is scheduled in my state. but you coud go to p2p style cook like walt does. they busted a super lab in my state. But yes the majority is made by the juarez 7 cartel. a uthless mexican cartel. If you used to watch the show DEA they were the crew who sent 116 pounds of it in the semi with the limes in it. Pure Crytal meth with huge shards! thats how you know you have crystal meth and not just meth or speed. it will come in big shards. most about a inch big. if not bigger.I have heard of guys heats exploding from meth. some of them bring it in the states vua tunnel and flood washington with it. also go to wyoming and get people in debt and have them as meth slaves just seling meth all day.

usually the dealer always gets in big debt then you become the cartels save they send somebody up and just hangs out at your house and watches you sell meth al day making sure they get the debt worked off. you woud be surprised . they front out 60K worht of crytsal meth and guys get jacked or front out product and get ripped off or not payed back and then that is when the cartel makes them meth slaves. Its awful!

Breaking Bad is a ripoff of the drug dealer uncle fester.Uncle fester was just like walt a chemist pumping out pure crystal meth! he went by uncle fester and he did finally get busted but seldom knew his face he ran the cystal meth scene for years. one of the best cooks ever. after he got busted he revealed his recipes for crytal meth and explosives.Walt knows alot about explosives too. remember when he blew up pat of tucos compound. They ripped allot of it off from uncle festers story.

Is breaking bad better then the sopranos? I would say no. sopranos teaches you about real mafia and codes and rules and how nowbody is more important then family!

as far as the crystal meth scene goes all from the juarez cartel. most of it winds up in washington. they do try to push to open markets as well where they can get more money. like in DEA New jersey where they took down the semi of meth they sent to NJ. east coast is open territory! west coast has been hit hard for years washington is the #1 meth infested state. Yakima ,WA is probably the worst. the cartel brings it up through california drops some off there, skips oregon goes right up to vancouver,WA where they have a safe house, Yakima and spokane where they have safe houses.

juarez runs tons of crystal to the USA! just fucking up our country with meth and coke. one of the richest guys in mexico is a big pseudoephedrine dealer  although they use P2P as well. I personally think X from amsterdam kicks the shit out of meth in all aspects as you dont realy feel the need to party on it the next day. it is kind of once in a blue moon drug. meth is addictive and you can get super hooked.

oxycontin used to be the most profitabe business in my state before thhey changed the formula. Now you cannot snort, freebase , or shoot them up. you can still get 30mg oxycodone tabs that you can snort, freebase and shoot. they go for huge dollars. But the old 80mg oxycontin tabs went for 60$ and when they were going off the market 100$. I had a prescription and they do cost 10$ a tab at the pharmacy. my insurance would only pay half they I still payed 5$ a tab. I switched to the 30mg oxycodone tabs because the new 80mg tabs suck! the bioavailability is not the same, and they cost even more! 14$ a tab at the pharmacy.the 30mg oxycodone tabs cost 60 cents and go for 30$. I do not sell them though. I have degenerative disc disease. Nothing beats the profit on 30mg oxycodone.

How do you konw so much about this stuff. Did you deal or something?

How do you konw so much about this stuff. Did you deal or something?

NO but everything I said is true. I just live close to it all and know about the cartels pushing all the meth there is the juarez 7, the sin a loa cartel run by chapman guzman they run the same drugs. the juarez crew is more powerful but they work together with guzman. Yes washington is there state where they have all their safe houses. although they are trying to push more to open markets like the east coast where they get more money for their crystal.

Yes breaking bad is a play off of the drug dealer uncle fester who was just like heisenberg. nobody knew who he was except the top players. He was a myth. But he did eventually get busted. Uncle fester is a real chemist and after his bust he started writing books and giving his recipes up. you can google uncle fester and read about him. you will see that is where breaking bad got the idea of making heisenberg a sort of myth.

and Yes Oxycontin the old formula before they changed it in 2010 was the most profitable drug ever. It made several guys rich. guys would get scripts of 180 tabs and sell them for 60$ a tab that is 10,480$ a month for pretty much free if you have insurance that pays for it. My insurance just payed half. But they also have other hookups and some guys run through several peopes scripts. they find older people who sell them for cheap due to the fact they need quick cash and they offer to buy every single tab. The profit margin is the best is what I am trying to say. just having a 180tab oxyconting script is 122,000$ a month if your selling them. wich alot of peope did.

I needed mine but there were guys who went to pill mils and had thousands of oxys from sending their whole familys in there and rounding up all the pills and selling them in bulk to a crew. guys could make 20K profit quick when pill mills are prescribing 1,800 tabs a month to people. check out a google search on <payette pain clinic> in vancouver washington.

they had a juicy pill mill going on.all in all the old oxycontin ran the show but now it is 30mg oxycodone and Meth. in the states where there is no data monitoring guys will doctor shop and get numerous 30mg oxycodone tabs and wind up with a few thousand a month. they pay very little to fill the scripts as the 30mg oxycodone tabs are way cheaper then oxycontin but they are still worth 30mg a tab and people need them! they will withdraw without them. so you have guys making 50K a month selling oxycodone .

I've seen it done many times. guys buying houses and cars. pharmaceuticals are a hot market and oxycodone 30mg tabs is what everybody wants..80mg oxycontins are dead since the formula switched. hell google the rapper Mad child he spent 3 million on oxycontin and oxycodone in 3 years.People get addicted and loose their ass! it is that addictive and the withdrawals are awful! guys will sell their parents shoes for their next hit not to go through withdrawals. withdrawals can get scarry for some people! Imagine the worst flew you ever had x10 with psycotic thinking.

I'm still on the fence about Todd ,something creepy about that guy. can he take over, will he take over, who the heck knows. But there's definitely something up with this character

ice water in veins.  He's built for this.  And he was studying that meth recipe like a fiend.  I think his plan is to be heisenberg.  anyone who declines $ is down for the cause, not the paycheck.  As soon as he gets the formula down, I think he'll demand to be a partner.

Todd will end up being a major character next year, i bet.  Tonight's episode should be awesome.

Wow..very nice episode......shows you the ruthlessness of Walt..had those guys killed in prison......the sequence of killings was awesome and spine-chilling.....reminded me of that type of scene in the "Godfather" movie where Michael was at the Baptism in the church and had his rivals killed

Also...looks like Walt's cancer is back

Gail didn't give Walt the book,  Gretchen did before she married Elliot Shwartz,...the initials are for Gretchen and whatever her maiden name was...So therefore he felt there was no danger in the book...It's a total coincidence, tragic in that it put Hank on the correct track.

Didn't have anything explicit in mind, just it would seem if you didn't want to be a skilled chemist...Con man or used cars with odometers turned back would be a fallback position.

Place an ad in a publication with the words, "Send me a dollar" with an address.

This is considered fraud legally because in placing an advertisement soliciting money you are implying you will send something of value back.

Honestly if tonights show was the ending it would be fine with me. That episode was badass!
I mean they got rid of mike, jesse got his money, walt has mexican kingpin type money, walt also has his cancer back wich he liked, If you look when he washes his hands after his MRI he gently takes a paper towell instead of puching it till his hand blead. He could still see the old dent he made. meaning he was fine with the MRI results and having cancer although you usually don't get your MRI results back that quick.

anyway Hank saw the anitial GB and assumed gale bedeker. He also has the flashback of reading the poem to walt and put it atogether. I think he knows who heisenberg is. anyway I would of liked it if this was the last show. everybody was happy. and as far as hank going to go after walt that would be up in the air he could of or could not of. Man what a show!

I was glad walt gave jesse his cash.jesse deserves it.

brother you do not know what you are talking about. that is like saying take steroids and get a nutritionist and you will look like Ronnie coleman! Making 99% pure crytal meth is something only few can do! Uncle fester is a legend! a myth just like heisenberg! He has years of praticing making crytal meth and explosives.

he is a sad case of wasted talent! somebody who could maybe find a cure for a disease or do something really good with his knowledge but he wasted it spending his time making crystal meth.

just another water white. but in real life. Nobody is on uncle festers level when it comes to making Ice. Like I said a pure Myth. a story you tell. nobody on the lower end ever saw the guy just very few. Like I said you can google him he is a real chemist. he aso made LSD and MDMA. a clandestine drug lab cook genious. You cannot take a few classes and be uncle fester status!

Did you notice the part where Todd showed he was boss?  When Walt told his uncle either they do the killings or he'll find someone else.  The Uncle looked to Todd for approval and Todd gave him the nod.  That right there showed you Todd is the Boss of those bikers.

wow, i didn't know that.  i thought walt was just sloppy.  WOW cool ending.

given that clip of hank on the run next year, i'm guessing it's all sorts of shit (ambitious Todd, blowback from all those jail killings, hank tailing him, fed trouble from the czech meth, and his cancer coming back) that puts him on that crazy collision course

The show would get very boring very fast, with them all at the pool every week, no more meth, nothing.

I thought this season was rather weak, but this ending was spectacular.

okay..I see your point on this....I took that whole scene with Todd nodding toward the uncle totally different...

MY PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT YEARS SIX REMAINING EPISODES:

1. Walt's son, Flynn will get hooked on the very crystal blue meth that Walt is producing (probably get introduced to it by friends), and wind up an addict.

2. Walt's wife will commit suicide or Walt will have to kill her and will have it look like a suicide.

3. Hank and Walt will have a final showdown with Hank killing Walt.

4. Jesse will survive and will leave the meth business entirely and return to his mother, father, and brother to pursue the right course in life.

5. Walt will find himself under siege from all the factions out to get him....the Mexicans, Czechs, and even the Aryans...I believe that's why Walt was seen purchasing that big gun in the flashforward at the beginning of the season...I think he will use it on the Aryans

6. Another alternate ending will be Walt loses everything, extricates himself from the drug business, is able to elude detection by Hank, and simply returns to being a lowly $40,000 a year chemistry teacher again thus coming full circle but losing his money, wife, kids, friends, and relegated to dying alone

WHAT DO YOU GUYS PREDICT?

very little meth is made in the Usa these days since the controlled output of pseudo. there are huge manufacturing plants in central america and ,most of it is made now in mexico with mules bringing it back stacked in a car. It would be very easy for the us govt to shut down production of this drug  by shutting down the plants that make the main ingredient but I think they would lose out on the profittable ''war on drugs'' game.

Great article about that very subject:

There's been a lot of parallels with scarface and heat this season.  Couple that with him buying an M-16.  This cat is going out Tony Montana style or somehow Hank will swoop in to save his life.

One of the best tv shows I've ever seen. Didn't think the actor that plays Walt could pull it off after being such convincingly whiny bitch of a dad on Malcom in the Middle.  This mofo is a great actor.

Great writing and characters on that show.  Gus was a smooth, calculating SOB. Mike was...well Mike but played a great role.  You can't say enough about Walt, Skylar, Hank, his wife (FILTY Thief!) and ol' b-b-b-breakfast boy.

No. No.  It is from Gail.  It is the same inscription that Gale had in his cook book.  He even spelled honor like honour with the u.

I hope they have a flashback about the book.
you're right about this...I remember now Gale giving Walt a book as a present to make peace between them

This is ambiguous...

1) You never actually see Gale give the book to Walter...In the episode "Sunset"...the episode when Gale and Walter first meet, Gale quotes the poem.  A few scene later, Walter is in his apartment looking over the book "Leaves of Grass" and there is a close up of the inscription.

2) Gretchen in the 1980's was Walter's lab assistant before she married Elliot.  Walter and Gretchen seemed to have had a close friendship going that came close to a romance.  Gretchen, however, chose Elliot over Walter.  The inscription on the poetry book looks very much like a "consolation gift" to a rejected lover.  Walter in the scenes with the book seems to venerate it as an emotional keepsake.

3) There is some argument over the similar handwriting styles of both the inscription and the lab book.  Both Gretchen and Gale have science backgrounds.  Some universities have classes for engineering/science students to teach that style of block lettering.  At the University of Houston the class was called "Engineering Graphics 100".  These classes seek to standardize the appearance of handwritten documents.

4) It is very much more in keeping with the "Greek Tragedy" style of the production to have something that deceives Hank into thinking that both documents were written by Gale...but actually are unrelated, but still serves the purpose of putting him on the right track.

This is why I think the poetry book is from Gretchen...

Is it just me,or does anyone else think Walt looks like Geraldo  ;D ;D.absolutley top notch acting from all the main cast, plus i like the little flashbacks that you get at the start, and then find out what that means later in the episode.Just seen the 2 episodes with the one eyed teddy bear in the pool,so i`m thinking this will mean something later on in the series. And that twitter message just above with the DING DING DING is fuckin hilarious, seeing as how i`ve just watched that episode.Getting through 4 a day at the moment.

I love sauls character! he could be the key to. he poisoned the kid for walt. jesse still might find out about that and mike. Plus one think I thought of is they had jesse on video making meth in mexico. he might of been suited up the whole time. but I do remember the cartel videotaping jesse making the meth.

NO the nod from Tod was just to vouch for walt. And to take him seriously kind of a he is the man nod. Do what he says. Tod is not the boss of anybody! He was just vouching for walt and the importance of the task at hand. I wish they just woud of made that the last episode. I am sick of depressing endings. If that was the last episode it would of been good and not depressing. In a way everybody got what they wanted. would of been a great ending in my eyes.

agreed.....I didn't see the Malcolm in the middle actor as pulling off the role either...I think thats why I didn't start watching till season 3 was over....my son kept telling me I had to see this show so I was curious.....Gus has got to be one of the best villians in TV history...the way he died was amazing as well....it was just like his character to go out the way he did

agreed..the acting is very good....the concept of the show is very original..something we haven't seen on TV ever...they would never be able to have a show like this with the concept that it has, on a regular network TV station.....yes you are right...that one-eyed teddy bear means something ominous is going to happen...and the Hector Salamanca character is a pisser...LOL

yes thats what I got out of that as well.....Saul's character is really good.....I love the irony.....Saul has commercials which say "Gotta go with Saul"...and because Mike DID NOT go with Saul, he was exposed and that was his downfall..LOL...and like I said earlier..I think maybe that was SUPPOSED to be the last episode but they decided to lengthen the show because its so goods and I'm sure its a cash cow for the producers and AMC

I'm hoping that somehow they get chased or killed and the cash in the storage locker gets forgotten and then a year later some mexican in some storage auction wins it for $50 and finds all that cash.  lol.

Cranston plays an awesome Walt.  That thick goatee and the bald head and ominous stare.  But I do think he looks like a douche with his heisenberg hat on.

I am a little hesitant though to think Walt ever gets killed or caught.  He has spent 5 seasons dodging every kind of bullet that came at him.

The cat and mouse with Hank should be a fun remaining 8 episodes.

I love the DING DING DING.  I can picture people getting facebook updates from Hector with DINGs in it.  lol

You know the penmanship is different.  Look at the W, the R and the S.  They are different in both.  But leave it to Gretchen to fuck Walt out of two fortunes.  One for Grey Matter and one from his meth business.

Very good point there.

I think Walt ends up avoiding everyone out to kill him, and ends up succumbing to pneumonia while cuddling with his family or something.

As the meth battle rages, he just limps home, and the show ends with him smiling.  I dont think he dies by a bullet, no way they let the show end like that.

LOS ANGELES—Following last Sunday’s Breaking Bad midseason finale, creator and showrunner Vince Gilligan told reporters that in a departure from the “light, fun tone” that has characterized the program thus far, the concluding episodes may take more of a darker turn. “Ever since the very first episode, in which [main character] Walt is diagnosed with cancer and forced to sell meth to provide for his pregnant wife and cerebral-palsy-stricken son, I’ve thought that perhaps one day we could begin taking the show in a grittier direction,” said Gilligan, adding that while the program’s ongoing depiction of a man slowly succumbing to an illegal lifestyle defined by power, violence, and alienation was fine for four and a half seasons, he “wouldn’t mind” eventually exploring some grimmer themes. “I know our audience has gotten comfortable seeing Walt regularly kill drug dealers, endanger his family, and poison small children, but, personally, I think people would be interested in seeing a slightly more sinister side to the character.” Gilligan’s announcement comes just weeks after fellow AMC showrunner Matthew Weiner announced it was “entirely conceivable that the next season of Mad Men may touch on how men deal with marriage.”

I think these last few episodes of season 5 have taken an amazing twist. When Walt killed Mike everyone thought Walt was the biggest idiot on the planet. I mean us, the viewers of the show.
Then, he gives Jesse a lot of money, is more listening towards Skylar, and really seems more relaxed at the final dinner with Hank and Marie.
All is well? No. We get a full blown drama ending a la greek tragedy. I think Hank's toilet scene was epic and very intelligently made.

Superb series. I can't stress this enough.

Whitman's one of the American greats.  But it's been so long that I read his stuff (I was always a Hemingway/Eliot/Joyce/Poe devotee), honestly, about all I can remember of the man and his work now's that he was gay.  I also recall that he spent most of his life writing Leaves of Grass, which could be significant.  It was also controversial IIRC, but that was largely given the literary climate at the time (yeah, I have a worthless BA in English).  It seemed like Whitman was more rooted in the real world, to the point that people initially found it obscene.

Again, it's been a long time, but Walt White/Walt Whitman ... I'm sure someone more familiar with Leaves could draw countless parallels.

yeah walt cooked the body and had todd compact the car.   nobody will ever find Mike.

Todd is a cold blooded visionairy, a hard worker with ice in his veins.  I think he is the #1 threat in the last season.

he passed up money, just to learn the business.  He wants to be parter, or he wants to be the king.

One can only imagine the shitstorm that will arise in the final season, now that Hank knows, they'll have int'l heat coming down for that czech importing (they had to intro that for a reason).

I still think he'll die of pneumonia.... oh, maybe it'll be in gretchen's arms... wouldn't that be a huge irony... this woman who has driven him for years, the antithesis of his existence... He'll die in the arms of Gretchen and he'll be the happiest man on the planet.

THAT would be some shakespherian shit...   yes, write it down, that's 240's prediction.  He succumbs to his illness in the arms of Gretchen.  And he's completely happy.

Nice theory......but I also think that Ricin is going to come into play as well..maybe Walt gets sloppy and leaves it for his infant daughter to find and she dies of poisoning?...I also think that watch Jesse gave him for his birthday will come into play...he showed it to hank and told hank it was a present...maybe ?Walt fucks up and leaves it at a crime scene thus confirming for Hank that Walt is is Heisenberg

If you watch carefully when hank comes home and marie says turn the news off hank is in a bad mood. Hank offers walt a drink if you look at walt look at hanks drink he is think how micely the ricin would dissolve in the alcohol. he might get hank with the ricin. I just think they shuold of ended the show with this last episode. everybody was happy and you got the feeling hank knew who heisenberg was but you never get to see if he does anything about it. would of been a good ending in my eyes.if sundays episode was the last I would of thought it was badass. I bet the next season will not be as good.

Now was this season originally just 8 episodes or was it 16 episodes and they just decided to split them in two seasons. In other wars did any more filming take place? or where the 16 episodes already made I assume so since the first scene had walt buying fake ID or something shadey in dennys.walt has become heartless.Tod and walt ae a good match. jesse was to sensitive.

I read an interview with the writer of the show.  He said that because of the 16 episode final season they slowed things down a bit for the first 8, but says the last 8 will be fast paced with a ton of stuff in it.

Todd is a cold blooded visionairy, a hard worker with ice in his veins.  I think he is the #1 threat in the last season.

As I see it, the creators of the show are trying to portray Todd as simple minded, but with a very stubborn purpose to succeed in this life of crime.
Do you agree?

Getting to the end of series 2 now,Walt is getting very cold hearted when he just stands and watches Jane choke to death.Got an email from my mate to say he likes the first few episodes of series 1 and told me to watch The Shield, never seen that show before,so is it any good.He says Hank looks like Vic Mackey in The Shield.

Wich do you guys believe is the better show? both played the same card by splitting the last season in 2 series. I would have to go with Breaking Bad! Never thought I would find a better show then the sopranos but saul,Tod and tuco were the deciding factors. Brian Cranston also stpped up his acting game. I do belive james gandolfini takes bryan cranston to acting school. In breaking Bads case Bryan Cranston really stepped up his game.

Bryan cranston really did get some training cooking meth in a DEA set-up lab. I remember seeing him on late night before breaking bad aired. I love the first season. This last season is also badass!I think walt let to much info slip like when he told the arizona crew he killed Gus.

Walt also took on Tod as an apprentice when I think he should of just done it all on his own.although Tods uncels did come through on the jail inmates who were about to rat.Walt has killed more then Tony soprano and the last season is not even over we still get to see him with the machine gun go crazy!

never would I believe this show would go on for 5 years just a year shy of the sopranos.Breaking Bad seemed like a show that would interest guys who mess with drugs ! But everybody watches it!I dont think the actors get paid ike the main soprano actors but half a million to a few milion is generous.I know they file fake tax reports bu it still costs money.

Breaking Bad by a good amount. I loved the early years of the Sopranos, but it started to fall apart in the last couple of seasons. It happened to Oz also. They got more playful with the plot lines in a watchable way, but not a good way.

yeah....agreed.....Todd has some type of purpose........I don't see what it is yet..but he definitely has to pay for what he did to that poor kid....he's probably meant to exist as a character to contrast him as a more ruthless type of bad guy as opposed to Walt who probably would never kill a kid.

I think he's like the person on a reality show that tries to stay 'under the radar' while building alliances.

He was smart enough to mention his prison connections before they weighed killing him.  he was psychotic enough to smile and ice a kid without hesitation.  He was driven enough to decline payment and cook meth FOR FREE.  He calmly nodded for approval on the 9-killing spree in prison.

If he was a brilliant psycopathic up-and-comer with eyes on being the king - what would be different about his behavior?  Nothing.  This is exactly how a shrewd 'intern' would act, just waiting to learn the trade, make the connections, then waiting for Walt to screw up or be vulnerable.  Turning down that money was the clue for me - nobody turns down money.

SHIELD was just too unreal.

too fake.  I LOVED it and saw every episode (was a little disappointed in the ending, when it suddenly got realistic lol).

But I'd put it #4 after 1) wire 2) BBad 3) Six feet under/Dexter tie

Let's be honest here and not revisionist......there were MANY Sopranos episodes that stunk to high heaven. Any of the ones that Steve Buscemi directed were putrid.

With that said, still a damn good series, but not best of all-time.

I forced myself to watch the first two seasons of Breaking Bad due to all the great reviews. Am I the ONLY one who found it terrible? The actors' lines made me cringe most of the time. So superficial, lacking all depth and nuance, as if written by a 10 year old. It's like the The Entourage, only about meth-making.

Sopranos I enjoyed a lot.

Some of the greatest nicknames ever used on TV though.... ;D

I thought the Buscemi episodes were weak, the Joe Pantoliano episodes (and his character) sucked, the episodes that centered around A.J. being a spoiled, weak, pansy prick of a kid sucked.

I always wanted to see Tony extract revenge on the guy who raped Dr. Melfi and Meadow's boyfriend that dumped her because she wasn't good enough for him. Maybe have Silvio or Furio pay them a visit.

Title: Re: BREAKING BAD OR THE SOPRANOS?

Pantoliano and Buscemi were great, fantastic acting all round, with Gandolfini, Imperioli and Edie Falco

Their characters weren't explored enough  though, or properly possibly due to different directors in a merry-go-round. Not enough continuity, sometimes things didn't follow, and I agree, Breaking Bad doesn't have that flaw

But I still think the whole concept, the characters, storyline, my favourite.

yes, i think you're the only one.  i did find season 4 to be somewhat of a disappointment, though.  then again, i took quite a long break after season 3, so maybe my memories are a bit distorted.

on the other hand, i was pleasantly surprised by mad men season 5 after a similar length break, so eh.

Both the Sopranos and Breaking bad are in the hands of the best. Vince gilligan who does breaking bad did the X-Files and David chase did Northern exposure a underated show. a little corny but a good show about Alaska.

I actually think all the breaking bad season are pretty good. some episodes are kind of shitty but not to many. I love the sopranos too. Tony is so old school. I think Breaking bad is better due to the fact it barley cost them shit to get the first few seasons made. Bryan Cranstaon was the only known actor.

some had seen dean norris(Hank) play small roles in some shows but they found everybody else for cheap. Saul is a great character who is also a great actor.Tuco was awesome! Aaron paul was in one shitty movie but he is star status now hanging out with the big boys like P Diddy, frank vincent,T.I. .

the Son is the worst! horrible actor! I dont believe him to be a special needs (cerebal palsey) patient. He actualy triggers the violent part of my brain(NO JOKE everytime he talks I want to reach threw the T.V. and shove a cruth up his ass and one down his throat.

Certain things make me violent and he is one of them. I used to have a friend who got real violent when he saw a bee. It is a real a rea trigger in your brain that gets set off I am not sure what the name of this condition is.

240- Todd didn't want money because he thought he was of no help during that cook. in the last episode it showed todd receiving cutts. the first cutt was like a training cook. he just didn't feel he deserved to get payed. he might have alternative motives but I think he is happy with the money he is making. If wat is realy out tod can cook up al the Big blue he wants,If walt allows him to use his formula.

Walt got pissed when jesse used the formua when walt retired in season 3. then that is when walt took the job with gus. walt is stubborn about that formula.he has been ripped off enough in his eyes.

Gretchen and eliot robbed his theory and made millions so he hates when people steal his ideas or formulas. That ricin he has wil kill somebody who though?

I bet jesse or most likely Hank.he really looked at hanks alcoholic drink when they had shots when hank came home last episode when marrie told walt to trun off the TV because they were talking about the jail killings. You have to admit tods uncles did come through on the jail killing contract. that is more people who died then in the whole sopranos. well pretty close. think how pissed hank  must be! walts famous line ( IT HAD TO BE DONE).

I wondered if it was a bug that Mike (the cleaner) had put in,like he did at Walts house, and when Walt was after the fly he mentioned to Jesse to watch what he said in case the place was bugged. And then right at the very end when he was in bed he heard a fly on the ceiling and you saw a red light,so i wondered if his new place was bugged as well.

Breaking Bad is awesome. I'm always looking for shows with great story lines...

Was surfing Netflix for something different. Saw something which initially looked mind blowing but did not hold up on further inspection.

That something was called "White Collar".

Why did it initially seem "mind blowing"? Because people rate vids on NF and this one tied with the highest ratings I've EVER seen. 4.5 out of 5. On the same level with BB...which is saying something. Because even 4 out of 5 is VERY VERY hard earned on Netflix.

However....watched White Collar...did not find it engrossing or compelling...at least at anywhere near a BB level...

Anyone here at least seen White Collar and have some kind of impression on it?

Never seen it..whats it about?cc

Basically it's about a conman that is released from prison with an agreement that he use his conman sensibilities to help the FBI catch other conmen.

The problem, for me, is that it's not compelling.

With Breaking Bad I DID NOT WANT TO WATCH IT.  Someone recommended it to me. I reluctantly watched the first episode...I was engrossed and could not stop myself from watching every single episode of the first 3 seasons...because that was all that available at the time on Netflix.

Compelling....meaning it was so good I was almost forced to watch...like I had no choice... I was THAT into it.

With White Collar I did not find it compelling and didn't even get through the 1st episode. I am intrigued that it got 4.5 stars though. Maybe it's THAT good to most people but for me personally it didn't resonate.

white collar, burn notice, covert affairs...

all those are glossy yet lower-thinking shows.   Spy shows where everything is lame and predictable.  They'll escape a raid with 5 items... and use those 5 items to miraculously defeat a militia of 80 dudes without killing anyone.  I mean, spies that will knock bad guys out or use sleeper holds on 8 straight people?

It's cheese for people without the attention ability to sit and think deep when Walter White stares at the fly for 12 seconds.

I never watched the first 4 seasons.  Thought it was a dumb show and had no interest.  Then I needed something to kill time on the treadmill so I downloaded the first 4 seasons.  Ended up doing about 1 1/2 hours on the treadmill watching 2 episodes at a time.  Once I burned though all 4 seasons, I put on 5 pounds again, can't find the motivation to even do 20 minutes of cardio now  :(

Remember in the last season Hank wants to start brewing beer again.  I have a feeling Walt is going to know Hank is on his trail but play coy and he will slip ricin into the beer and kill 1/2 the DEA and Hank will get blamed and some how Walt will escape.

What I don't get is the writers claim they haven't started writing the season's last 8 episodes then why did they do that flash forward with Walt and the m16 if they have no clue how he is going to use it?

Chances are the Czecks get involved, why else bring that into play?  They kidnap Jesse and Walt goes to save the day, goes down firing, Jesse escapes but Walt goes down in a blaze of glory.

Interesting thought. As long as they don't do a lame ending like Sopranos. How about Skylar goes off the deep end and kills Walt as she cannot handle the stress any longer.

In that same episode Skyler and Walt seemed to be getting along.  Apparently that scense took place 2 months after Walt quit the business.  So they made ammends.  If anything she will be the reason why Hank doesn't just try to arrest Walt right away.

I think Jesse will survive this whole thing and make amends with his parents and go on to have a hopeful happy future.....possibly with that spanish girl and her soon

Walt will either die in a blaze of glory or go back to being an average chem teacher again, broke alone, and resigned to dying alone of cancer

I'm praying that the producers are smart enough not to ruin such a good show by having a lame-ass ending....like the Sopranos and the X-Files.....

good point..maybe Hank has some compassion for Walt due to Skylar and the baby or due to Walt's cancer....however, Hank and his wife are taking care of Walt's children.,..perhaps a forewarning by the producers that Sky and Walt won't be around soon?

I can see Hank fucking up and somehow shooting Skylar by accident and missing Walt causing Walt to go fucking nuts.  Maybe that's why he has a fake ID with her maiden last name of Lambert.

Maybe Walt kills Marie and Hank is so grateful he lets Walt slide.

I think the Arizona dudes come hunting Walt after he quits providing them product, it would explain the M-60.
On a side note I was lucky enough to be invited to a "party" up in the mountains last Thursday where a dude had an M-60 and was laying waste to a Dodge caravan with it - fukng bad ass.

I'm telling ya.... in some weird twist of fate, Walt will end up dying of natural causes in Gretchen's arms.... and he'll be the happiest man in the world.

All that pallet of money didn't buy him peace, he wasn't content.   He'll be in her arms - and he'll be happy.

I love sauls character! he could be the key to. he poisoned the kid for walt. jesse still might find out about that and mike. Plus one think I thought of is they had jesse on video making meth in mexico. he might of been suited up the whole time. but I do remember the cartel videotaping jesse making the meth.

just watched the last one of series 4 and never occured to me that Saul poisoned the kid to make Jesse think gus had done it.Although i`ve yet to watch series 5,the ending of the last series would have been a great way to end it all.

The last scene at the pool dinner, they seemed to be smiling at each other like they are back together.  Who knows.  Walt firmly beleives that she'll come around and accept him again.  The time walt laughed like a madman when he found out she gave away the money was a moment for her to realize they are on borrowed time.

Skylar knows that Walter is a lightning rod.  Either law enforcement or a hit man is going to strike sometime in the future…and she does not want to have the children or herself personally around him when the time comes…

Almost any craft store sells iron on transfers that you can print on.  They just iron onto a plain shirt.

here's a link to order some.

http://www.amazon.com/HP-Iron-On-Transfers-Inch-Pack/dp/B00000J3LY

If you don't have a top quality printer, go to Kinkos or Staples and pay them a couple bucks.

We never got an explination from the Denny's breakfast in the first episode this season.

Wasn't this season all a big flashback from there on..remember Walt said he was 52 today to the waitress...and did the thing with the bacon. Yet during THIS season he was 51 when Skyler made him and the kid breakfast.

So isn't that where the season should pick up? Or explain why he is at Dennys buying a large caliper machine gun from some guy we never saw before?

So we can assume it will be Walt on the run from someone. He is def not in the clear....doubt Hank is his main concern. That is what I really want to find out. I thought it was gonna be something to do with Mike..but obviously that idea is no longer good :)

PS- I noticed that amazon is selling season 1,2, and I think 3 for like 12bucks a piece....think its worth getting, haven't seen those in a LONG time and I don't know any online sites that have free stuff.

Hank could hand off the case to another cop that would have no emotional connection.
I had a family doctor when I was a kid that would not even deal with his own kids when they had the flu...off to another physician.

i hadn't seen season 1 in maybe 3 years.    I came to the show in season 3, episode 2 I think?    I liked it and bought season 1/2 and watched them in like 3 days total haha.   after seeing the season finale, and this thread, i figured i'd watch season one again.  Cool stuff.  Very desperate in the early years.  in season 5, he's only dealing drugs because he wants an empire.  Less exciting than early episodes when you pity him and every time he gets a 60k nut, he loses it.

i hadn't seen season 1 in maybe 3 years.

I remember episode one I think it was...or could have been episode two or three when he quit the carwash and he told the arab owner "fuck you and fuck your eyebrows too"...that was the funniest shit I had heard on TV because I was thinking the exact same thing!!!...Also....at the same time he grabbed his nuts......I had never ever seen that gesture made on a TV show before

Uhmmm....no.

If you watch just as the opening credits go up as the name Vince Gilligan goes up at the 6.56 mark you see something flash on the screen for a split second then at 12.09 a picture of a bottle flashes up.Could just be something the advertisers have put on,but i wondered if it was anything to do with the series.

Ok makes sense...yeah he was a total nerd who gets screwed over everytime haha...he was desperate as hell to make some money for his family...you got to remember he still had the cancer and was going to die very soon so the desperation was very eminent in every episode...great stuff.

As for her asking a bunch of questions, just tape her panties into her mouth.  Problem solved :)

It comes up that quick i can`t press pause at the right spot, but it looks like it says "autobahn for all".
Just watched the last episode, best one yet out of all 5 series, what a pisser we have to wait till next summer for it to finish. The ricin was there again in this episode when he took it to the meeting with Lydia so surely at some point it will get used.I`m thinking accidentally taken by his daughter, now she`s starting to walk, and the one thing he started doing this for (his family) is the thing that gets destroyed.

I think the website that hosts it does this.  I used to download torrents and in a movie you'd see an add on some random screen like if someone had a TV in the room and their ad would be on the TV.

It will be interesting to see how Walt talks his way out of this, with Hank finding the book.It was interesting when they were talking earlier and Hank talked about leaving the job so he didn`t have to deal with the "monsters" in the drug trade and Walts face changed, then he bent down and came back up dressed for the meth cook.its like he doesn`t care what anyone thinks anymore.Plus the talk with Jesse and how he sold his share in Grey Matter for 5 grand and now its worth billions,i don`t think his ego will let him leave the drug business behind. He just feels his intelligence is worth a lot more than a couple of million and even though he said he was out,he`ll end up back cooking meth.

Did he sell because of the ackward triangle of himself, Gretchen, and Elliot?...or is there more?...

Also...in real life a cop when he realized a relative is involved would hand the case to another team.

They went into the most detail when explained how must he would have had, but they haven't done the back story on what happened.  Hopefully in the remaining 8 episodes

i just watched season 2.   walt left gretchen.  he packed up his band on july 4th and left her, she caught him packing.  i dunno if the gretchen angle will play into it now that i've rewatched it.  not a lot of chemistry it seemed, who knows.

they gotta have some eipc death for him.  or maybe they pwn us all, and DONT kill heisenberg.   What if they give us the finger and he lives at the end?

Imagine Hank killing walt knowing he was Heisenberg, finding out the book was from Gretchen B and not Gail , commiting suicide thinking he just killed Walt for nothing not realizing he really was Heisenberg.  LOL.  That would be the utlimate mind fuck.

it just seems to unreal that hank would get killed.  he has to be the guy to take care of the new baby, walt jr and skyler when Heisenberg checks out.

I think the writers have to make Heisenberg's death EPIC.   He can't die like omar in The Wire, something that doens't make sense and is random.  I think it'll have to be epic like Sopranos, something that people are talking about in 5 years.  But that show is so smart - they have to have something that is epic yet really emotional at the same time, something witty.

yeah, that'd be weak.  going out loony, in a blind rage with that machine gun.  I think he might end up surrounded and use the materials around him to make the world's biggest improv bomb.... then we think he suicide bombs....   then we see him quietly slinking away as the credits come on, and we're all like "wait, he LIVED...."  and that's the end of the series.

I am so hooked on this show,i`ve just finished re-watching all 5 series again, and its better 2nd time around. For the simple reason that you know whats coming and notice little things you missed the first time. For instance one episode starts with an advert for pollos hermanos, and at the bottom of the advert it says "part of the madrigal group",later you find out who the Madrigal company are, then the one where Walt spins his gun round on the table, twice it points at him,3rd time it points at the plant, first time watching it meant nothing, but that glance at the plant gave him the idea for the poisining. In series 5 the one that starts with the kid on the motor bike, you hear a train in the background, didn`t hear it the first time, but later on you realise thats the train they rob.The attention to detail is incredible.Best show EVER.And on the Inside breaking bad episodes, the one from ep 8 of series 5 "Hank" says now that Hank knows that walt is heisenberg, but walt doesn`t know that hank knows.I just wondered if hank is thinking about a bit of blackmail in the final episodes next year.

hank will 'float' the idea by his trusted co worker guy.

the friend will tell him that a DEA boss with a drug kingpin brother-in-law would be under investigation, get fired, a laughinstock, etc.

hank will be the one with the secret in season 6.  what to do?  Hank will trail the wife to teh $$$, and he'll end an episode standing with that pallet of money (too cool an image not to use).

THEN the czechs or the drug dealer competitor will come at Walt.  Hank will have to go 'off the books' without meaning to, in order to protect the families.

Hank ends up being the muscle to protect walt, while at the same time steering DEA investigations into the competitors to keep them off their back.  HANK is the one that's going to be BREAKING BAD in season 6.  :)

I think in teh end, Walt succumbs to the cancer, hank keeps the money and the family knows walter white was a good man who did what he had to do, then went a little mad.

By the end of the show, EVERYONE will have 'broken bad' - from DEA agent to good wife.  Shows that any of us can do it, given the right circumstances.

Sounds plausible 240,i just think that laugh that "Hank" gave at the end of that interview means he knows what hanks gonna do in the last 8 episodes. And its hanks turn to get paid. The gun we saw walt buy in episode 1 of series 5 could be because of the czechs,if you noticed they sent one bag in the barrel the first time, then 2 bags the next barrel,so obviously the czechs like the blue stuff, but if walts now retired they might have come over to make him re-consider.

After all the carnage that Walter has caused and all the people Walt has killed directly and indirectly, I just don't see Hank going bad....even for family....remember...Wal t has fucked Hank over many a time in this series....fucking up a lot of Hank's investigations.....

Also, I think Hank may reach the final straw when his own partner is killed due to Walt's machinations.....

I think the show has two main lessons.

1) Everyone breaks bad

2) Everyone has some good in them

We saw Mike, a stone evil dude, and fell in love with him as he played with granddaughter.  We saw Walt and felt sorry for him crying with cancer, and now we see him poisoning kids to get his enemies firebombed with wheelchairs lol.

Wifey broke bad, laundering money.  Hank took the $ for rehab, knowing it was illegal gambling gains.

But I think in the end, Hank ends up breaking badder than everyone, when the czechs or cartels try taking out his wifey.  hank has the TRAINING to be the gunner.  He has the top job at DEA.  He doesn't want to sell drugs, but he does want to protect his family.  He'll step in shit investigating walt.  Walt will go on the run.  Hank will end up breaking the law bigtime, arriving at crime scenes he caused, etc.

yep.  Something to lose, a reason to fight.
A job that lets him stay ahead of authorities.
Strong understanding of the drug game.
Weapons training.
Inheriting huge funding (when he finds that money)
Disgust with the system.

I'm guessing he gets fired in the middle of the season and we see him truly break bad - just to survive -just like walt did!

I can definitely see hank breaking bad, simply because of the experience he had with Turtle, seeing workmates blown up,and if you remember he didn`t want to go back to that job. He`s already talking about giving up the job,so this could be a great "redundancy" payout for him,by blackmailing walt.

He won't choose to.   He'll be sitting by the pool and someone will come gunning for Walt and maybe even kill/injure Marie.  Then Hank will be in it 100% - just for survival.  Most people don't break bad because they want to - they do it because life hits them with some crazy circumstances.  Without cancer, Walt would still be a poor car wash employee/teacher.

Hank will start doing his intel and putting it together... then realize he can't "out" Walt without destroying his own career.  THEN some outside enemy will attack - and he'll break bad.  I'm sure of it.  His job and skillset and mentality are just too damn cool to have him be a square cop - particularly because the show will need a main character locally while Walt is on the run.

I hope you are right. It would be a fantastic script for the last episodes.

The writers won't dick around for 8 episodes having Hank doing Intel.  I have a feeling Hank is going to go face to face with Walt and accuse him and Walt will explain it how it is.  You fuck with me and you and your family will be fucked.  I think you'll see Walt at the start of the convo and eventually by the end become Heisenberg and leave Hank standing there like WTF!

I don't see Hank breaking bad...and if he does it won't be to pair up with Walt.....I can see Hank offing a few guys to protect Walt without Walt even knowing it but thats all.....I really believe that after all is said and done...

the ending of the show will basically be Walt comes out of this thing unscathed personally but everyone around him will be affected in a harsh kind of way...the show will end with Walt broke, working again as a chem teacher, being a cashier at the carwash he will no longer own, and on his last legs due to the cancer....thus coming full circle but learning alot about himself and life in the process....

The lesson will be you can't mess with destiny...you are what you are in life...Walt was always a lower middle class working man loser....surviving from paycheck to paycheck...thats where he will end up again..Walt's punishment will be that he simply goes back to the life he had.....with the clock ticking waiting to die....Jesse will come out of all this with an optimistic future......he will learn about life as well and will go back home to his parents once his parents learn that Jesse's younger brother is an addict or has overdosed from the same crystal meth Jesse was selling/producing.....

This is what I think will happen. It will be one of the most crazy, intense, WTF moments in TV history. Where the viewers finally realize that Walt is just as bad as Gus was. We viewed his whole story and journey, Gus's was told to us.

Hey...Michael killed Freddo remember LOL. It won't be the worst thing criminals do :)

From Digital spy

Breaking Bad star Dean Norris has hinted at an upcoming plot line in the show's fifth season.

Norris, who plays Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) DEA agent brother-in-law, implied that a "chilling" upcoming scene could see Walt's infant daughter Holly placed in jeopardy.

"Let me just say, there is an even more chilling scene involving that baby later on this season," Norris said during an interview on NPR's Fresh Air.

The entire cast has dubbed this the darkest season yet, with Aaron Paul calling season five "just terrifying".

Cranston has suggested that upcoming episodes will see Walt and his partner Jesse (Paul) confronted with "a weak link" in their organisation.
