I always thought people calling obama a "food stamp president" were making a lot of republican voters very uncomfortable.

Okay, but ignore the political affiliation of the recipients and focus on just the number, which is where BF is going with this.
I'm no fan of the last thug to occupy the White House, but the increase in total number of people receiving stamps is not a moot point, and certainly not one worth deflecting.
