for living room, kitchen, entrance place just use white?
people tell me white is too cold
and do you typicall paint ceiling in a brighter type of white than the walls or uniform color
-
i usually do white semi gloss trim , and white semigloss ceilings
but for walls you want color or the room is gonna feel boring.
you could try violet, beige , blue, green whatever really , have a couple of decent plants in the room could bring it up some

just keep in mind semigloss is easier to clean in case something splatters on the ceiling or cobwebs that get smeard making it dingy looking
i just like the reflective ness of semigloss
ALWAYS SAVE SOME OF THE PAINT YOU USE never throw it out make sure you seal it perfectly tight make a mark on the can lid with a mark on the bucket so that way you put the lid on the same way everytime the paint will last forever

I think semi gloss looks cleaner, if you have a flawless ceiling that won't show imperfections. I have plaster ceilings, that look great with some gloss.
If you have nail pops or visible seams, go with flat.
