So here's a thread to contrast the Widest bodybuilder of all time
people's thoughts?
here's mine
1. phil heath
2. shawn ray
3. flex wheeler
all great bodybuilders but narrow across the shoulders

my theory is that he was born to be near six feet tall. but early use of androgens caused the epiphiseal (sp?) bone growth plates to fuse, stunting his skeletal growth. the bonus to this is that your muscle cell count is set at birth (barring the hyperplasia arguement). so he had the muscle fibers and potential for muscle size of a six footer, crammed onto a 5'3'' frame.

they were worried about him being really really short and they, the docs, prescribed GH as a way to help with his state of mind.
im not joking, this is true.
and yes, he is one of the tallest in his family. it worked... apparently he was destined to be 5' or less... and his family did what they could as early as they could when they recognised it was affecting him psychologically.

Another little known fact is Lee's Father was a raging homosexual, that is why he has taken his Mum's maiden name for his surname. Probably explains his deep need to prove his manhood via hyper-masculinity.

Gaspari, Heath, Ray come to mind. Wheeler was an ecto but his delts and thin waist in '93 made for a very good taper.

Good point, the insertion to shoulder joint has to be key a more direct link to the arms ie rather than outside the delt cap. Just a guess I maybe wrong.

Narrow shoulders make for bigger arms (Heath excluded who does have big arms). As usual with Bbing, it's the illusion that matters. Broad shoulders doesn't necessarily make for a better torso, specially if the torso is a long one (see Pakulski).

Correct me if I'm wrong bro, but isn't the hyperplasia concept still very misunderstood, and debatable? I've read theories that GH could possibly promote hyperplasia.

How is Shawn Ray narrow ??? I looked all over and he looks wide in all angles, found one pic where he does a most muscular that arguably is a narrow pose for him but not really.
Look, here are the ones mentioned in this thread in FLS, a pose that shows width in the torso and where arms can't detract from a weak chest and torso.

Having a big head makes the shoulders look more narrow. That's partially why Coleman looks so wide (apart from being huge), but his head wasn't as big which helps the illusion.

maybe something like when narrow shouldered fellas do heavy compound moves the arms take the brunt of the work instead of the torso

??? Just because he stands next to a both bigger and taller guy does not mean he is built in a narrow way. He's smaller in most ways. He's a small guy.
But his proportions are not narrow, he has a small waist, wide shoulders and a taper. Not "the narrowest of all time". The narrowest of all time looks narrow standing alone, ie Heath.

Dorian's 4 feet behind them, relaxed and still looks wider.
