Title: Ticketmaster and their gouging
Post by: Croatch on June 13, 2013, 04:47:01 PM
Nothing like charging a $20 fee on a $70 ticket...and not even a seat, just general admission.  I'm tired of these fuckbags.  No more shows.
Companies and their made up bs fees.  Charging a percent on a ticket, rather than a set $3 processing fee...same amount of time to process a $200 ticket and a $15 ticket.
When is someone going to shut these dipshits down?

I think it's just for music events.  I'm surprised there isn't a documentary on "made up fees".  Everything from the electric bill to car sales.  New Car, sorry $400 delivery fee...haah

I'm always amazed how they are sold out within a couple minutes yet ticket brokers have all the best seats in any quantity you want.

I don't know who owns ticket master, but I'm guessing it's a certain "untouchable" tribe ;)

Ticketmaster has sucked for decades.  Everyone hates them- as they should.

People are trying to shut them down. A lot of the bands I used to see no longer tour near NYC because of them. Pearl Jam for one.

that isn't a coincidence.

The ticket brokers pay ticketmaster well over face value. Then the brokers make their killing selling to the public.  I worked for a ticket broker as a 17 year old kid around 1976. I had to bring checks to all the major broadway plays and places like Madison square garden. The brokers phones would ring off the hook. You wanted a third row center seat to the hottest play? They had it. Madison Square garden sold out on the latest greatest rock band. They could put you within spitting distance of the band. They operated almost like the mafia. When I went to a Broad Way play house I would cut the line and go right to the front. The person at the counter would nod their head and take an envelope from me and pass me an envelope back. The box office was just happy they were selling their tickets for way over face value. I delivered massive checks/cash to Madison Square garden. When I questioned the two good fellas who ran the operation if what they were doing was legal they told me they didn't need my services anymore.

You should have said, "Fuck you, you phony fuckin tough guy you."  Ripped up some tickets, then kicked him in the face.  Definitely, not a true getbigger.

A while back I was thinking of joining a new gym because I moved. They wanted to charge me a processing fee.  I ask them what the fee was for and the only answer I received was they charge it to all new members.  Walked right out the door.  If you can't give me a legitimate reason to customer for a fee then you shouldn't be charging the fee.  It's purely a money making scheme and should be illegal.

The number of places that have made up fees is large.  A gym is a great example.  The 24hr fitness, processing fee, enrollment fee, charging first and last month.  What if you never quit, where does the last month go?
These are all minor things and not much money per person, but spread across thousands of clients, companies make a little bit.
If everyone refused to pay bs fees, companies would stop charging.

I think your documentary idea is a good one.  There needs to be some accounting.

There's already one on ticket brokers I found, but a general "Made Up Fees" could span dozens of businesses.  Tickmaster being #1.
Gyms
Utility companies
Car dealers
Mortgage broker
Colleges
My girl got a bill from her college and the number of made up crap was laughable.  They know they have you by the balls, so there isn't much you could do, other than drop out.

Almost as bad as Omaha steaks.  They advertise a $39.99 special, a couple filet mignons, 8 sirloin burgers etc... so I go to order and they want $30 for shipping.  50% for shipping?  FUCK THEM>

Not a bad idea, but what do I do when Bieber comes to town?

Depending on the venue, some concert areas have outdoor plazas and beer tents that don't require a ticket, the ticket is usually just to get into the seating area.  You can hear him, see him on the TVs and still chat up the bitches, all for free.

Or else you can just blow the doorman to get in.

Just go to the venue two hours late and he will be just coming on when the fans are leaving, you can get a ticket off one on them.

I can see you're not from Jersey. A 17 year old doesn't bump chests with goodfellas.
