It's not worth the fight if he knows that he WILL fail a test in the near future and then get the lifetime ban without pay. So why not make a deal with the Yankees right now for 50 cents on the dollar and walk away? 50 million is better than zero...

From what I understand MLB has a pretty solid case on Arod in particular, more so than some of the others. Not sure what good appealing or fighting back will do.
Even if he does come back in 2 years, which he almost certainly will attempt, that lumbering swing of his wont be condusive to a long layoff and advanced age. I don't even see how he will get on the field with a perennial powerhouse like the Yankees who have a solid farm system and have the finances to reload whenever they need.

game wise He moves with the gracefulness of a ballerina, he can fly, he drops 500 foot homers....when it comes to pure raw talent I know a lot of guys will say Griffey ....but I don't think people realize how big alex is,,, looked to be about 6'4 6'5 ...as a shortstop at one time thats fucking nuts...taller than what he is listed at. ... guy to be that quick and agile at that size, No doubt in my in mind he could of played in the nfl, he really is that talented

Ryan got suspended for 65 games instead of the 50 (first offense) for lying getting away with it and playing a full season after testing positive.
A Rod is just 17 Hrs away to get 6 millions (as bonus) plus 9 millions they (Yankees) have to pay just for playing in August then every time he passes Mays,Ruth,Aaron and Bonds in records, he will get 6 millions plus 90 plus millions salary till 2017...... (Arod's case is extraordinary ) in other words, the more they delay him to get on the field the less they need to pay.

If they try to ban ARod, then they need to ban Selig as well, as he was complicit in the whole steroid scandal from the get-go. Either he knew and did nothing to help baseball return from the strike saga, or he didn't and was oblivious to what was right under his nose. Either should be grounds for dismissal. I just know that most people loved watching the runs for the records... The long ball was what people were clambering for... It helped baseball tremendously.

American Hypocrisy. Viagra is cool for old men, and so is HGH, but steroids and HGH are bad for younger guys and athletes.
People clamor for more, and the athletes have to take whatever to justify the breaking of records, longer seasons, and higher pay. Just like in bbing, people want to see the freaks. But, unlike bbing, the public is naive in thinking that these people are genetic phenoms that either were from the cornfields of Nebraska or the streets of the Dominican Republic and have no help whatsoever.
The head honchos want this squeaky clean image, when they know it's not the truth. Yet make billions on the hype of "long ball records falling".

The news has caused 5.0 aftershocks to convulse through San Pedro de Macorís. One quake was so violent that it caused Tony Fernandez's foreskin to fall clean off yesterday. He now claims he's Hebrew and only eats kosher fried plantains. Local shoeless boys with major-league dreams are reported to have found the foreskin under some heavy rubble and are at work fashioning it into a makeshift first-basemen's mitt.
