Title: chet yorton.
Post by: funk51 on August 06, 2013, 12:24:27 PM
;D chet is still around and is still in shape. he was a big part of the natural bodybuilding movement. first article i read about chet was in ironman mag, it told how his legs were destroyed in an accident and how he rebuilt them with weights to make them better than before. chet was the first guy to beat a young arnold in a big contest nabba mr u. it was said he won mainly because he had better calves.

because wild willie asked.  ;D ;D ;D i pulled out that old ironman with chet on the cover. the accident happened when chet was 19 in 1958. 8 years later he won the ifbb mr america title.both legs were litterally crushed bones were pullverized, they didn't think chet would  live, for sure never walk again.

the article said he built his legs up to 27 inch thighs and 18 and 3eighth  inch calves.he is listed as veing avle to squat 540 and deadlift 600 lbs.he's listed at 5 ft 11. he was in traction for 2 monthes than in a wheelchair for 4 monthes. he used muscle beach protein to build himself back up. he used the basic exercises for several sets of 8-10 reps with light weight, he worked his body twice a day.doing this he built his weight up from 160 lbs to 215.

at the time of the article he was working out six days a week on a split rountine. working every bodypart 3 times a week. he performed 6 sets of 6-8 reps per exercise and 3-4 exercises per bodypart. so he was a volume trainer.  it also said he routinely takes off 2 weeks to 2 monthes every year to allow his body to recuperate.

did he have major leg surgery early in  his career?  he often looks like the lower muscle has been removed and it appears you can see large scars in a lotta pics.

edit.     ok, I'm an idiot. I just read the article and all the detail of the accident, damage, and recovery.
