Title: God rested on the 7th day?
Post by: Darren Avey on March 23, 2014, 02:26:49 AM
What? What do you mean God rested? I thought God was this super immortal being? By saying he rested implys that his body had broken down and needed to recover, hence rest like a mortal. Well? Explain that one? Why does this Omninpotent mega super being need to rest?

The meaning of the original Hebrew is closer to "ceased" than "rested".

hardest man

This expression is a little bit ice machine.  Unless you're a gangbang girl, it's better to say toughest.

I'm not surprised at how different translations can have huge differences in implication.  Much of today's Bible is selectively translated to promote the idea that it teaches Jesus is God or the literal son of God.

Fwiw there are devout Christians who insist they must not work or even attend class on Sundays because that is the day they believe God "rested"

It would simply BLOW YOUR MIND at not only the different translations, but also the many omissions, inclusions, and obsfucations exist within the bible. It has changed much since the Hebrews originally recorded their story.

Exactly the reason why God sent His message once again afterwards, this time in the form of the Qur'an, which, in contrast has not had any debate over omissions or inclusions or differences in interpretation over its fundamental teachings, as the original message was memorized, documented and maintained in its exact form over the years.

It simply means that he ceased his creation efforts.

And what a message it is, what with the flying creatures going after the owners of the elephant!
