Maybe we need to address mental health and parenting in this country instead of banning every tool that can be used to hurt someone?
???
-
Tools are items that are effective, efficient and useful.
Under Obama, items that are effective, efficient and useful are a bad thing.
Ban knives.
-
too bad he didn't have a gun with an extended magazine then he could have maybe actually killed someone or many
total under achiever

lol
good point
Leave tools in the hands of professional contractors.

Right, they were only maimed and mutilated, so its ok.

great point
I'm sure if given the option they would have preferred to have been killed
-
I'm not a knife guy..I have a lot of knives....but I never carry any and am always bumming one off of somebody.
-
American knife owners...you have blood on your hands!!!
-
Obama: "We won't interfere with folks right to cook, we need knife control for our children".
-
You also need to ban all fertilizers because someone can EASILY make a bomb with a fertilizer and other READILY LEGALLY AVAILABLE products and kill MANY MANY MANY MORE PEOPLE THAN ANY ONE PERSON WITH A FIREARM EVER FUCKING COULD.
-
What do you need with these big, high powered assault knives anyway?? You can cut your vegetables with a small blade..and why do you need to stockpile so many knives? People have dozens of them..its lunacy. End the madness now!!
-

It is time to hold those fertilizer dealers accountable..they are enablers of this violence. Boycott Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-mart, and any of these other sleasy places that allow anyone to just walk in and buy as much fertilizer as they want.
And we need to close the Outdoor expo loophole...mandatory background checks for anyone who attends and flag anyone who buys more than 5 pounds of it at once, as they are Certainly up to no good. If it prevents just one child from being killed by a fertilizer based bomb, it will be worth it. Maintaining our lawns is not important...think of the children
-
lol^^^
sad because it's accurate
-
Experts report that as many as 100% of knife and fertilizer bag purchases are conducted without a background check.
Do the right thing america. End the madness now
-
Oh and don't forget pressure cookers. Remember the Boston Bombing? What do all those dangerous right-wing nazi racist women with kids to feed need to use a pressure cooker for? Why can't they just cook for hours slaving away on a stove barefoot and pregnant like the libs tell us all right-wing nazi racists want women to be like. Right? I am calling for a ban on all pressure cookers to keep the children safe. 8)
Dont forget nails, pipes, gasoline, razor blades, and basically ANY other fucking thing any one with internet access and half a fucking brain could make a SIMPLE EASY LETHAL BOMB WITH.
-
Pressure cookers...another menace to society. And dont even get me started on automobiles...seems like every morning i open the news and am greeted with yet another tragic automobile-related death. How many thousands of car related deaths are enough?? How many of america's youth do we need to lose to tragic car violence before we stand up and say ENOUGH!!?!?
Automobiles claim the lives of tens of thousands of innocent children every year- yet one can go into any dealer in the country andso long as they can pay for it, they just get handed the keys, no federal background check needed. Or worse, whats to stop any mentally ill or alcoholic individual from buying a car from the sordid, unregulated used car market? Or online ads or classifieds?
When will america face the fact that we have an automobile addiction...one that needlessly takes the lives of tens of thousands of good people annually??
But as long as the automobile industry and its powerful lobby continues to influence members of congress, change will be impossible unless you, the american people, rise up and DEMAND CHANGE
-
lot's of ridiculous comments on this thread given that no one is suggesting banning all guns (which is what I assume all these comments about knives, fertilizer, pressure cookers, etc..) are alluding too
still it's funny watching our resident gun nuts giggle away like school girls with this brilliant commentary
-
Whoa whoa whoa...I never said to ban all knives or fertilizer either, just to create federal background checks for purchasing either one, limiting how much a person could buy at once, having a waiting period to buy either one, flagging any purchases that we deem 'excessive in quantity', limiting knives to one 2.5 inch blade per household, mandatory keeping the said knife and fertilizer bags in a locked case at all times, eliminating outdoor expos and classified ads in which just anyone can buy a knife, bag of fertilizer, or an automobile, to create elaborate federal background checks before anyone can purchase or transfer a car, and raising america's awareness of its automobile addiction, which takes the lives of tens of thousands of children every year.

We only want government control of everything that can harm our children. Do it for the children...

True.
When will the "president" stand in front of the White House with a bunch of kids and give a speech on the need of regulating the sale of knifes?
Must be soon. This threat must be curtailed as soon as possible.

Good point, too bad the teachers weren`t packing guns with an extended magazines, could have ended it quickly, Zimmerman style...
-
The minute you see teachers packing guns is.the minute you will start seeing teachers being charged with accidental shootings, homicide, man slaughter etc. That's one of the most retarded arguments out there and I am pro-gun lol.
-

why would they need an extended magazine if they only needed to shoot one person
-
when people make arguments like this, it just goes to show how deep the effects of biases go in shaping your worldview. It prevents you from seeing simple things- such as, as pointed above, that had the person had a gun they would have killed more people.
-
Heard Jay Culter supports the plasticization of all cutlery.
-

I`m not thinking the teachers will be able to shoot any better than the police, they need extended magazines...
-

So if a deranged lunatic armed with a knife goes on a rampage and some innocent people are maimed, mutilated and killed- your reaction is-- these things happen, at least he didn't use a gun?
And you're accusing other people of having a biased world view? ::)
Guns do not kill people. People kill people. Same thing with Knives, baseball bats and razor blades. Mental illness and poor parenting need to be addressed in this country. Guns and sharp objects should remain as they are.
Hope this helps
-
Perhaps because of increasing difficulties in getting a gun, the kid had to conform with a knife.
No doubt if he had a gun, it would have been another massacre.
-
Maybe we need to address mental health and parenting in this country instead of banning every tool that can be used to hurt someone?
???
And then you would complain about government spending, right?

It isn't my reaction at all to say 'at least he didn't use a gun'. My response was to the 'ban knives' reaction as if there is an equivalent argument present.
Knives are not as dangerous as guns, period. It seems sensible to put greater emphasis on gun control than knives because of that. Ofcourse that is not the only solution to the epidemic of mass violence episodes.

I'm not clear on what's wrong with looking on the bright side by saying, "Thank god he didn't have a gun"?
Why not restrict access to deadly objects AND "address" mental illness and poor parenting? Wouldn't that be the most effective?
(Before ya start ranting, let me point out that I'm pretty sure that both guns and knives WERE banned on that high school campus at the time of the knife-attack.)
-
A day after a man with a record crashes automobile into a daycare killing a child, we awake to news of yet another terrible automobile tragedy...this time someone slammed into a bus, killing 10 people and hurting many more. How many deaths are enough?? How many of americas youth need to die before we 'do something'??
Automobiles cause the deaths of tens of thousands of americans every year. Stand up and demand change. End the madness now!!!!!!!!!!

And don't forget martial artists. I call for amputation of all the limbs of anyone with expertise in a martial art. They are dangerous right wing lunatics and after all we are here to protect the children. ;D

Access to rope should be restricted, too -- We don't want any hangin's.
-
LOL at all the stupid dick heads in this thread who aren't willing to give up their knifes to save the children.
You can buy everything pre cut at the store, knifes belong in the hands of professionals.
-
True. Studies show that those who have knives in their home are more likely to be injured by their own knives than to ever need them for a serious purpose.
