Title: Single-Location Films
Post by: Royalty on July 16, 2014, 07:01:57 AM
Movies that take place in one location for most of the film.

Just a few:

The Shining
The Mist
Misery
Jaws
Identity
Clue
Sphere
Silent House

Anyone have any other good, solid films that take place in a single location?

HITCHCOCK'S ... Rope ..... A single N.Y. apartment set filmed and edited so as to appear as a single continuous shot through the use of long takes.

Often thought to be one continuous shot, but it ain't.

ALfred' first technicolor film.

The shining does take place outside, even the road is shown.  not single location, that would mean entirely inside the hotel

Correct. There is even a part when the cook is shown at his home; in Denver.

About 70% of Reservoir Dogs takes place in an abandoned warehouse. But it also has scenes that take place elsewhere.

ALfred' first technicolor film.

It was impossible to have a take longer than 10 minutes in 1950.  A thousand foot magazine of 35 mm film would only last 10 minutes.

Now with electronic cinematography you can literally make a film all in one take.
See: "Russian Ark"  It took 4 tries to do that.
