Title: Pumping Iron Question
Post by: Neptune100 on August 06, 2014, 04:15:06 PM
If you could have one more legendary BBer in Pumping Iron chronicled, who would it be? Personally, I always liked Zane and wish he would have had some significant time in it.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the last people ever to Interview Serge Nubret before he fell ill (RIP).  When I asked him about pumping iron he said that initially he had filmed/was going to have a much larger part for the movie but had taken offence when they had low balled him such a low amount of pay.  At the time Serge was filming movies and was a name in his native country.  He said he would have been happy to do the movie for free but took it as offence.
Shame. The movie could have had a whole new dynamic to it.

I think PI is the greatest film ever done about Bodybuilding and it changed the entire fitness world overnight.
How can anyone say it could have been better or more dynamic? Everyone in the docu was great. It was just perfect. Even Arnold saying he maybe wants to go to Hollywood and become an Actor!
If the film would have been changed just a little it would just have been another gay schmoe docu that no one wanted to see. Not saying it isn't but at least it was a huge hit.

Should have gotten rid of Mike Katz and featured more of Corney or Nubret.

If you are a fan of Dave Draper, E! made a True Hollywood Story about him. Have you seen it?

Bet there`s not many here who got that statement. ;D ;DIt would have been good to have had a training segment with an amateur with one of the pro`s just to gauge the size difference.Would have been great to have Sergio featured in PI.

Wasn't the guy arnold was telling to "not hide away" an amateur competitor?

Good to see you posting again!

As for the question. I would suggest Vince Gironda and Arthur Jones for their controversial personalities.

Then we wouldn't have had the famous t-shrit scene.

Sergio and more on Serge. Those are the only two that could really destroy Arnold.
