Title: Official Baltimore Ravens 2014 thread.
Post by: Irongrip400 on August 19, 2014, 03:39:33 AM
I'm saying 12-4 and maybe a wild card, not sure if they win the division and an AFCCG appearance. Not sure if they go all the way this year. Look for a bounce back season from Flacco and possible DROTY for Moseley.

3rd in afc north

flacco will never come close to what you saw in the playoffs, so don't even think of the super bowl

He's pretty good in the playoffs, I'll take that.

Bwahahahahahahhahaah!!!!!!!

And people call me the drunk.

Fluko is one bad season away from getting cut. Ray Rice is battered and beaten  ;)

They will be fighting for second in the central with the Bengals.

You need to pray for a wild card birth.

Put the drink down, it's the North, Central hasn't existed in years.

4-0 preseason.

Can they challenge the 07 Patriots for a perfect season, but ending in a Superbowl victory?

12-4 and you dont know if you win the division? LMFAO how good do you think the Steelers and the Bengals are going to be?

I think the team with 8 wins takes that division...

PS have fun with kubiak as the offensive coordinator, when youve seen enough of the bootleg let me know ;)

CincY will be good this year. Dalton will try and live up to the contract, plus he has Green. Division will come down to the final weeks of the season. The North is strong.

Laid that ass whooping on Pittsburgh last night.

I will say however, that Pitt got jobbed on those two UR penalties, but Baltimore got it also on the roughing the passer.  Lotta laundry on the field last night.

It's still too early to tell how good either team is going to be this year.

The Steelers almost lost at home to the Browns  :-\

Still, a win is a win.

You're right, like what will it say if Pats are 0-2 by next week? I know they can come back, but you don't want that hole. I did however have Baltimore and Pats in AFCCG this year. Not sure who comes out on top.

ravens offense is not clicking right, run game isnt there and you would expect the passing game to be a lot more dynamic with both smiths, jones, pitta and daniels etc

If they get going on all cylinders it should be interesting though.

Sluggish win for the Ravens. The Browns just basically gave the game away with stupid penalties and mistakes. I'll take being 2-1 in the division this early in the season. Losing Pitta for the season basically sucks. The Ravens have invested heavily in a player that is now going to be coming off two dislocated hips. Fucking sucks and it may be the last time you see Pitta in a Ravens uniform.

The Bengals are nasty on defense but i think they're overrated. Dalton just doesn't get it done in the playoffs.

The Pitta loss is a kick in the gut, but Daniels is pretty good and I think Gilmore has alot of upside. Hindsight, maybe they should've held onto Dickson.

I'm glad Dickson is gone. Way too many drops. I like the Harvard grad fullback to catch lot of passes this year. And Daniels is playing pretty well. I think the Ravens can whether the storm of losing Pitta.

Steve Smith is turning back the clock with his play, which is a great because Torrey Smith is nonexistent out there. I'm hoping he breaks loose soon. The Ravens' offense will still be good as long as the running backs keep playing well.

Isn't Kellen Winslow.jr a freel agent? Should bring him in for a look.

Panthers week, what do you have on the over/under for Steve Smith?

Ravens dominated the Panthers today. Great win at home.

I think the worst team in football has to be the Raiders now.

I think they have lost 10 in a row, and just made Miami look like the '72  Dolphins.

Glennon should be the starter for Tampa.

The Pats game with the Bengals (at home) this sunday night will tell me alot.

The Patriots were embarrassed by the Chiefs on monday night. I fully expect them to play like an elite team at home.

If they lose, then I will know that this is the beginning of the end.

The Patriots O-line is shit. Brady is used to having ALL DAY to throw in the pocket. That's not happening when you start two rookies on the O-line. He's not a mobile QB to begin with so this is going to be problem all season.

It tells me that Belichek and Kraft are thinking about life AFTER Brady. But you will never get those two guys to admit that to the press. He's 37. He's no spring chicken. I don't care how many hair transplants he gets to make himself look younger.

he will be back and is still a much better pick than manzielm. I would have taken bortles possibly but if it was between clowney and manziel id rather have clowney sitting on the bench than manziel taking snaps on the field.

Watching "A football life:Bill Belicheck" is on right now, and I find it cool how much respect he has for the Ravens and Reed. Makes me wonder why he never took a run at him after the Ravens let him walk. Also, the jabs between him and Mason were great.

12th best does not equal 100 million.

Only Qb's that warrant 100 million:

Brady

Manning

Rogers

Brees

Roethlisberger

Thats it.

Dalton and Flacco will never see the entire contract.

Big Ben is playing lights out football right now. I think he's playing the best football of his career and i hate that the Ravens are playing him coming off a career best game. Not having Jimmy Smith in the secondary sucks right now. He was playing all-pro level football before he got hurt.

might be true but time will tell

steelers offense is really coming on but the defense has looked like the worst i've seen in years

the special teams have been great, maybe they could've won another super bowl if they played this well in the early 2000's

Need Justin Forsett to have an efficient night against the Steelers. The Ravens have to run the ball well and get to the second level. The defense has to blitz often on Ben. Its not so much that he needs to be sacked a bunch of times. Just get hands in his face and don't let him roll out of the pocket. He's always killed the Ravens rolling out of the pocket.

dirty classless players and it all starts with their smug coach,  from smug billick to smug harbaugh

no qb has ever had a better two weeks than ben, if he continues to play half as well (which would be 3 td's a game) they will be tough to beat

Stop being so dramatic, Earl. 'thugs'.... ::)...don't take it so personally. The Steelers were the better team that night. It's one game...so what? You got your ass kicked 26-6 in week 2. Like I said earlier, if Jimmy Smith was back there in the secondary, it might have been a different story. It wasn't that long ago that the Steelers lost to the worst team in football AT HOME. You just got done saying that the defense was the worst you've seen in years. One game changes your tune quickly, huh? So put the Kleenex away and don't start jerking your beef just yet to your big Ben poster.

'all of you fans of other teams are now on notice'...lol...oh brother...what a dork

I know you're just itching for a debate with your faggy posts so I'll play along.

When an extra point goes bad and turns into a 2 point conversion, you know your team isn't winning that night. That being said, the Ravens better get their shit together during the bye week.

they are thugs, i've never seen a team intentionally take so many penalties

lose with honor and live to fight another day but i was stupid to expect otherwise when a proven criminal has a statue of himself dancing like a fruitcake in front of your stadium, that's their role model and mentor

did you see joey porter on the sideline?  he is the linebackers coach, now that man is a leader remember in 2003 he went to the ravens team bus to challenge ray to a fight and ray hid in the back seat?  joey had a bullet in his ass yet ray still wouldn't fight him, what a "leader"

week 2 is in the distant past, you know things change quickly in the nfl, your team lost 4 out of 5 and then somehow ended up winning the super bowl so you should know that as well as anybody

the defense still has holes but they are improving and yes i am putting you and others on notice

It must've been cool to witness all of this, wasn't Earl? The way you describe the situation, i could've sworn you were there on the scene to provide your testimony. ::) What a pile of shit story. LOL....For one, the late, great Orlando 'Zeus' Brown was a member of that 2003 Ravens team. 'Peezy' Porter never would've made it past him on his way to Ray. Brown was easily one of nastiest players ever to play in the NFL, a certifiable badass. Porter is a fruitcake in his own right. (although i wouldn't say it to his face)Kissing coaches on national TV, along with walking around shirtless in the clubs to attract his choice in men.

porter is and always was an alpha male

you saying orlando brown would protect ray just shows how beta ray truly is and you admit that he has a history of letting others take the fall and blame for his own actions

Who cares. At least the Ravens aren't playing to the level of their competition every week like the Steelers do. No one likes to lose to a big division rival. But you have to have short term memory loss and move on to the next opponent gameplan. All Harbaugh was doing was letting his team know that the AFC North is still up for grabs, despite the loss to the Steelers. You read too much into shit. We haven't lost to the Browns.....you have. AFC North, how bout it?  It's going to be a bloodbath.  I think only one wildcard comes out of the division, unless San Diego and Kansas City both really shit the bed.  I have the Ravens getting the wild card, but not sure who wins.  If they can play like they did offensively against the Saints, they should be good.  D was bend but don't break, they still keep giving up the big play, but at least scored on a turnover.

Terrible loss. Up 10 points to start the 4th quarter. That P. I. call on the Ravens was absolutely atrocious. Should never have been called.

This a loss where at the end of the regular season, the Ravens knew they shouldn't have given this one up. 10 wins might not be enough to make a wildcard. Looks like the Ravens have to run the table to guarantee a spot in the dance.

PI or not, that d wasn't stopping them. I thought they shouldve let them score sooner so they had more time for the last drive. If flacco can't go 80 yards at home with a minute and a half, what's he doing there anyway?

It's no surprise that Haloti was a having a great season until he got busted. Adderrall is hugely addictive and he became dependent on it. He was probably railing lines in the locker room before games. He was playing so well that the Ravens were considering letting him play under his current contract into next year despite his huge salary cap number.

Shame on Ngata. He let down the team and he let down the fans. He's a vital cog on that defense that routinely eats up two blockers every play. Losing Jimmy Smith is a bigger, though.

If the Ravens don't qualify for the playoffs, I'm betting that I've seen the last of Ngata in a Ravens uniform. He's going to get cut unless he takes a big cut in pay(which he won't). He'll still get a pretty decent size four or five year contract as a free agent even at age 30.

Ravens nation is pretty pissed about Ngata.

We're happy again!

Big road win against the Dolphins. I didn't think of Haloti Ngata one time during the game, either.

Two of the next 3 games are home. Jags,Texans,Browns. I still think winning 11 games will guarantee a playoff spot so they Ravens need to win out.

What a year Dumervil is having! 16 sacks! Suggs is coming on too with 8.5 on the year.

The playoff generator says they're guaranteed a spot if they win out. They still have an outside shot at the division even with one loss and some help.

Actually they're not guaranteed a spot even if they win out. San Diego has the tie-breaker(still so pissed about that loss) and the Steelers have a higher win % against division opponents. So, if the Ravens win out but don't win the division(along with Chargers and Steelers winning out) the Ravens can miss the playoffs with an 11-5 record. Happened to the Patriots a few years ago.

Just one more win against the Bills at home next week, and the Pats get homefield to the superbowl.

1. Nice try at under selling the importance of Bell if he's not able to play Saturday night. He's a HUGE reason Ben put up career passing numbers this season. He forces defenses to draw single coverage against the wideouts, which allowed Brown to catch a ton of passes this year. Secondly, Bell is an excellent chip blocker against outside speed rushers out of the 3-4 alignment. You guys will be starting an undrafted free agent(who can't block for shit) at RB if Bell can't go. I don't even think the guy went to college. Not having Lagarette Blount anymore is a big loss in depth. He's a proven veteran and now the Pat's go-to RB for the playoffs.

2. The Steelers blowout of the Ravens was almost 2 months ago. The Steelers went 1-2 the remainder of the month against three awful teams. Time to stop living in the past and move on. This is the playoffs. Whole new ballgame.

3. Baltimore has win in Pittsburgh already this year. They did it once and it could happen again if Flacco gets hot.

That being said, Steelers have homefield advantage and the Ravens haven't shown they can win at Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Maybe this is the year that changes. Anything can happen. Just makes me crazy that everytime the Ravens and Steelers meet in the playoffs it's always been at Pittsburgh.

i think the steelers will be fine without his 20 rushing yards, and with ngata coming back there wasn't going to be much of a running game anyways, i expect ben to throw 50 times on that weak secondary

blount sucked in pittsburgh, no loss

I stand corrected on the Ravens winning in Pittsburgh. Yeah, the Steelers tend to be the better team which allows them to play their matchups with the Ravens at home for the playoffs.

There is supposed to be a 100% chance of rain for the game. That might hurt both teams' passing games but Pittsburgh more so if Bell is unable to play. I can't wait. Every Ravens/Steelers playoff matchup tends to be a very good game. I hope Ngata is ready to dominate and I hope the 19 sack combo of Dumervill/Suggs is ready to hunt!

I know, it just think it's funny that you took the time to explain that.

Flacco played efficient. Two TD passes, no picks. But yes...the front seven of the Ravens made life hell for Ben.

Question...when Ben got knocked out of the game because of the concussion protocol, do you think they should have let the backup finish the drive they were on? I do.

i think ben should've sat out, you don't go from woozy and dazed to being ready to compete in an nfl game within 2 minutes

gradkowski looked sharp and the game was already over, it was a stupid move that just added more salt on the wounds

where the hell is guts?

E

That's me. I'm GUTS...I just changed my handle. Got sick at looking at it.

Just enter that password and fire that one back up. Sell this one to joon.

That said, I wouldn't put it past Baltimore to win. I had them playing Pats in the AFCCG back in August with no clear winner. I'm still thinking the same way, although I was a game off.  I did put $100 on them back in April when I was in Vegas at 30:1.  That bet made me $1,200 two years ago.  ;D

Damn, my predictions aren't looking bad from page 1.

Flacco is 2-1 against the Patriots in the playoffs. They can win this game.

I'll admit that I am nervous  :-X

But Ravens fans should be too. Flacco has 13 td's and no int's in his playoff career.

He is due for a stinker  :D

These stats are dating back to the 2012 playoff run. Flacco has had some subpar mediocre games in the playoffs before. And he has thrown INT's before. Honestly, I can't remember the last time he threw a pick and what game it was.

Probably the 2011 AFCCG against the Pats to be honest.

I don't think he threw a pick in that game. In fact, I think he outperformed Brady in that game with 300 yards passing and two TD's. But you may be right.

That bad Flacco games that stand out to me were the 2009 AFC title game. The pick six he threw to Polomalu to end the game fucking sucked because the Ravens were coming back strong. A FG would have won it and Flacco acted like a rookie at the wrong time of the game. An awful floater to Heap that Troy plucked right out of the air and zig zagged his way to the endzone. Ballgame.

The other game was the 2010 wildcard win over the Pats. We ran the ball so well that Flacco threw for less than 100 yards and one TD I think. He played lousy the next round against the Colts but he was running for his life all game long.

He shouldn't have played in the playoff game, in my opinion. The guys they had in the secondary looked like they were gelling together without Troy the last few weeks of the season. What do you think?

I liked Greg Llyod's game a lot back in the 90's. Bad ass mofo

i have to the ravens are the lesser of two evils, i don't want belichek to tie chuck noll for most super bowls and i personally can't stand brady

i am sick of this, i feel like i sold my soul to the devil when ben and santonio had that miracle drive in super bowl 43 because a team that i hate has won the super bowl every year since then

i'm rooting for the colts or broncos to go all the way, the panthers too but they have no shot

They might have won if they weren't stupid.  3 personal fouls, although i give Smith a pass on the 1st one.....

And  that call at the end was ridiculous.   They had plenty of time and options.

Tough loss for sure but the Ravens exceeded expectations with how shitty their secondary was this season. Matt Elam is terrible. Tons of physical ability but lacks it between the ears. His football I.Q. is not very high. Time to cut ties with him and move Ladarius Webb to the FS position. When Jimmy Smith went down less then half way through the season, my first thought was 'we're fucked'. The kid is an absolute stud but he can't stay healthy to save his life.

This was not one of Baltimore's better teams in 2014. I hope we can keep Kubiak because Flacco set career numbers and had his best season, statistically. The front seven looks great heading into next year. Suggs and Dumervill were awesome for most of the season. C. J. Mosely is the TRUTH. That kid can flat out play.

I would not mind it all if Ngata is not a Raven next season.    Timmy Jernigan looks like he's going to be a monster in the middle and a future star. Only 22 years old.

So...decent season and the Ravens are on the rise and will contend in the future. Ozzie Newsome knows what he's doing. Also, it's a nice feather in your cap when your team is able to knock your arch rival out of the playoffs. ;D

You can have the non-Adderral version. Just don't expect the typical production he's known for. He'll definitely get a 4 or 5 year deal from some team but his dominating days are fast ending.

In my opinion, Ngata really let down the team and the fans with his four game suspension. The Ravens were contending for the division title and it could've made the difference in the team being a 3 seed versus a 6 seed. He's probably been using adderrall for near his entire career.

Kubiak staying is great news. Hopefully Pitta can bounce back strong. Ravens looking good heading into next season. A free agent CB or two would help during the offseason. Move Webb to FS
