Having current UFC fighters commentating on UFC fights is absurd. It's exactly what happens on WWF/WWE.
Do any other major sports in any country have active professionals commentating on their own sports?

Golf. But I think there would be more in individual sports. Can't do team commentary or analysis when teams are in season. Make sense?

I'm with you on the "in season"issue. It just if a UFC fighter/employee is commentating on a UFC event they are never going to be totally honest or impartial. They will sing the company song knowing their "real" job will suffer if they tell the truth.
