i've seen them with both live,,and have every bit music from both eras...roth scat sings/talks or really sings note for note some of the clasics still live,i just picked up reunion show live cd 2013 tour it is very good musically eddie is off his ass playing now that he's in great frame mind,,,michael anthony backing vocals can never be replaced,,wolfie plays decent bass tho...sammy has a great voice a classic and his stuff with vh was great too...roth is an entertainer ..

This can't be a serious question.
Diamond Dave. Period.
-
VH first album is hard to top but 5150 wears equally well. Hagar has more talent but Yates's arms have always been weak. Coleman certainly had the better biceps but Yates had that graininess. Their backs were both awesome but DLR was a better showman on stage though Yates was nothing to shake a stick at. In the end I've got to go with Heath but only by a nose.

Roth. Sammy "I can't drive 55" is not an integral part of Van Halen. I never cared for that song. Oh well, I am certain Hagar won't lose any sleep over that fact. ;D
-
Dave.
Van Hagar was a step down. Still decent I guess.

Roth, but, he couldn't catch that lightning in a bottle his second time around. It would be similar if Guns N Roses reunited. Axl is done vocally, so it's not the same. Must suggestion, keep listening to that station, don't go to a live show.

He wasn't with VH then. That was when he was with Montrose.
-
Either one VH was way ahead of their time. Even my son has them on his playlist.

this
roth peaked by 1985 he's one of those types at his peak to have been frozen in time then and thawed out 30 yrs later..

I know, but its the only thing I can recall him doing. ;D
My favorite VH song is "Jump!". How typical, I know. ;D ;D

Lol, first one looks like a bad porn, second one wasn't a video for the song.

Even Yankee Rose is a great tune.

He was solo then.

Roth.......early Van Halen was the shit!!

Roth.......early Van Halen was the shit!!
One of the greatest riffs of all time..

Diamond Dave. Period.
Yes. How can someone think different?
-
Early Roth hands down. No Sam Halen/Van Hagar for me. Can Sammy sing? Yes.
They sure as hell didn't suck with Sammy on vocals. But I'm old school.
-
He was solo then.
Have you ever been to First Cabin in Arcadia?
-
DLR
-
ROTH is Van Halen! .........(to me)
-
Ruck van Hagar ruck van Halen and ruck Roth.
-
Roth..
Classic van Halen...
1984 is probably one of the best albums ever made..
-
Have you ever been to First Cabin in Arcadia?
Many times.
-
As much as i love DLR, Live Without a net is a pretty awesome live concert...plus some great fashion!
-
All my favorite VH songs are with Hagar. Not because of Hagar but it just happens to be that way.
-
This can't be a serious question.
Diamond Dave. Period.
Exactly. Hagar!? Oh, brother.
-
Roth.......early Van Halen was the shit!!
Up to 1984 for me. I like Sammy, and Van Hagar was fine. DLR is Van Halen ,the original with Michael Anthony's harmony's, can never be duplicated. A better question would be whose solo career do you like better?

I been to the edge
And there I stood and looked down
You know I lost a lot of friends there baby
I got no time to mess around

Roth > Hagar
no brainer

Trick question....
Who should front Van Halen now is the better question .. the answer is a resounding Sammy. Diamond Dave is a shell of his old self and just reminds us of what will never be again. Sammy can still sing with the best of them
On a side note, I'm getting sick of Eddie running his mouth. Everytime he says something I like him less. His reason for bringing Dave back "The fans want it" yet he has Wolfie on bass when every single one of his fans want Anthony back... lying narcissist
-
Hagar is fine, and he "outlived" DLR in terms of voice and singing, but early DLR was great and perfect for Van Halen, irreplaceable...
-
With 5150 they stopped being a rock'n'roll band and started to slide towards AOR.
Maybe it was best for that Dave then to depart. On a hindsight, whatever the reasons were then.
FUCK and Balance sound great and were more rock again!
Stuff with Dave in 1997 best of are great also.
Why the fuck did they ditch the huge crispy sounds of earlier albums on that crap that is the last album?
- " I used to jog, but the ice cubes kept felling out of the glass... "
-
One would be hard pressed to find a better rock band than VH with Roth at the lead.
Journey is up there with awesome songs.
-
Saw VH reunion a few years back...Good show. Eddie still extremely talented. Couldn't believe how much of a fruitcake Roth turned out to be. :-\ Although with costumes like this in the 80's, don't know why anyone would be surprised...
Roth Assless chaps...Gayer than Freddy Mercury

Roth > Hagar
no brainer
Of course. Sammy is by far the better singer and cooler guy, but Roth. So Roth.
Talking 80s Dave, though, not this current trainwreck.
-
"Running With The Devil" used to be my theme song back in the day.............seriousl y!

Diamond Dave all the way.
-
no comparison, Diamond Dave.
-
all bullshit aside van halen was just a better band with roth, for some reason they just play better when he is at the helm
i am a huge van halen fan i have all there cds shit eddie plays better when roth is around. he just has that effect on them.
-
Van Halen beats Van Hagar. End of story.
-
Many times.
Ever been there when Eddie and Michael Anthony would sit in for the band for a set?

No, haven't, but I've seen Mike at Pepper's a few times. He wanted to buy it there for a while.

I have met DLR through my business back in the early 90's. He was very cool and gave my buddy and I 4 tickets to his show that night. Jason Becker was playing guitar in the band at that time.
