 :o :o :o :o at age 40 david oritz is having a season for the ages in this his retirement year. click on baseball reference.com leaders at age 40. he already has the most doubles ever for someone in his 40 th year=40. 40 year olds record was 35. he has 29 hrs record is 34 by daryl evans

I find it amazing that he seems to have totally escaped the drug issue. Wasn't he on the same list as guys like Arod and his teammate Manny Ramirez?

I wonder if he gets right into the HOF?

team option for only 10M next year ... so would he change his mind and play one more year if Red Sox gave him, say, 20M?

I wouldn't if I were him. I'm sure he has plenty of money, and he is having a great final season.

He should feel good about going out playing well, and on his own terms. Hell, he helped the Red Sox win three titles. He will always be a legend in Boston.
