Title: Roy CALLENDER
Post by: Nether Animal on February 22, 2017, 02:36:20 PM
Pretty good build from the golden era that nobody talks about anymore. Not as dense as say Johnny Fuller, but better lines. Decent back for his time too.

Nice, linking a nine year old thread. Dumb fuck.

Furthermore, I have never touted my threads as novel or unique in subject matter.

Johnny Fuller looked odd. Roy had a better chest, arms, back, legs and lines.

Fuller was a mass monster of his time. Kinda reminds me of that black dude who just won the nationals... Name escapes me

Fuller wasn't in his league.  The only thing that kept him back was relatively poor calves.  He was really good when he was at the top of his game.

Lost a few Olympias due to politics.

Have him in one of my vintage Muscle & Fitness magazines (I have dozens that date back to 1981). Said he was 5'9" and 215 pounds. I've also seen 5'8" and 220 pounds. Him, Johnny Fuller, Tony Pearson and even Bertil Fox were overshadowed by guys like Bill Grant, Albert Beckles and Robby Robinson. Man, there were so many awesome guys back then.

Agreed. He also had that huge old school "bench press chest" that's lacking in today's pros.

The physiques were better then. Almost all of them had tiny waists instead of the block waists and oil injected body parts of today.

And they all had distinct and unique looks. Todays guys all looks soft and bloated. Hardly any separation between muscles.

Great bber! Seems he got the short end of the stick and should have made more of a mark. He would have been practically prefect if he wasn't slightly bow legged. It threw off the look a bit. But that didn't seem to hurt Franco.

In 1981 he should have placed third behind Padilla and Platz. Those two hit it right on the button. But Callender destroyed Franco.
