Shawn you made a conscience decision not to go overboard with gear and stand clear of GH/Slin , I'm not sure why you're trying to blame The Chad when Don ultimately decided what he was willing & not willing to do.

I worked out at the Gold's here in Fort Smith AR back when I was just getting into lifting.  I was in awe when I would see Don there.  He looked like he was wearing shoulder pads all the time...one of the biggest guys I had seen at that point.  I moved to El Paso later for a few years and then found out he had passed away.  That Gold's is closed now and it's been changed to a few stores/businesses that always fail.  Actually that whole side of town seems to be dying out.

I knew this post sounded familiar!  Then I found this one:

I actually got to see this guy train day in and day out.  I worked out at the Gold's Gym on Phoenix Ave here in Ft Smith and would see him in the mornings.  Unreal size; looked like he was wearing shoulder pads.  I didn't know at the time that he was a pro competitor at first until I started seeing pics of him posted up on the gym walls.  Drove a corvette and sometimes a big Hummer.  Owned a transport company in Alma.  Seemed like a pretty cool dude.  That gym is now shut down and turned into some crappy insurance company.

 ;D ;D ;D

That's cool that you knew Don.  8)  Don was yet another bodybuilder in the 5'8 to 5'9 range who I admired since I can relate to that, and it just made me think you could be a top bodybuilder at that height.  Beyond simply being a top bodybuilder - it seems almost a requirement to be something like 5'8 to 5'11 to be Mr. Olympia.  :o

Don died way too young, and Chad even had an article in Muscular Development where he wrote about working with Don - who was clearly a very driven man [in both bodybuilding and in business], and made it clear that Don basically did whatever Chad asked him too, diet-wise.  Seemingly this was true of gear as well.  :-\

EDITED TO ADD: that article by Chad was actually written after Don had died.  I thought it a bit odd for Chad to address Don's death at all, since naturally people had a tendency to blame bodybuilding, and some segment of that population would blame Chad specifically, but he wrote the article, and it was published in MD magazine a few months after his death.  Chad made it clear that Don would be willing to follow through to the letter with anything related to diet...so I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume that applied to gear as well.  Consider that, as "Undercover Pro" said, Don probably took home in a week the $10K he won at the 2002 Master's - so I would be confident that Don spent the money necessary to get the best gear possible.  Sometimes rich people need something else to put their addictions in check.  Poor people just go broke.  Rich people need another way to figure out they are using too much.  Sadly in Don's case, it was found out due to his death.

If I recall...Don took up extreme bodybuilding and steroid use after 40years old. Way too hard on the body to subject oneself to such abuse and extreme muscle growth bodyweight gains at that older age. The heart cant take it.

He was in his thirties  when he really dug in after building a successful business. He was a balls to the wall type guy who also loved to party.

He did what he wanted to do. He wouldn't blame Chad or anyone else for what happened.

Well...to want to make a comeback at the 2006 Night of Champions at what would have been 52, after previously undergoing angioplasty, being diabetic, and walking around beet red at 300-lb in the off-season...he was virtually assuring that.  :-\

Yep - Atwood worked with Chad, at least in 2002, as Atwood stated in the Battle for the Olympia 2002 DVD - the part where he is in the hotel.

As for Markus Ruhl, I do not expect that he will be around for much longer.

the guys who Chad trained WANTED to look a certain way.

"hey chad, i want to put on more offseason size and i want to be heavier and harder onstage"

Chad- "ok, well, you gotta try this, this, and this..."

guys - "oh, ok."

Chad isn't them... he can't tell if they're getting dizzy when standing or having chest pain when walking up stairs, and anybody with common sense would go to the doctor or heed doctors advice when they're advised blood pressure of 160/100 is way too high and they should be on bp meds and make some changes.

nobody MADE them use the drugs and eat the food and push bodyweight to an unhealthy level.

To be fair, Trevor Smith was GIGANTIC.  I believe he tipped the scales at over 400-lb at 6'3 in height, and certainly The Chad cannot be reasonably held accountable for Trevor's penchant/desire to be that humongous.  He may well have provided the knowledge so that Trevor could do it, but Trevor made a choice to be a big man, and paid the price, in terms of reducing his lifespan drastically.

As for the others, most were also mass monsters, with Don being up there in age a little, and Nasser being almost 48 at the time and still over 300-lb.  :-\  Nasser hadn't competed since 2005, so it's hard to blame Chad.  Atwood died in 2011, and I believe his last contest was in 2006.  My point is - these guys chose to be big.  They decided that they would ratherbebig, and went from there.  In other words, Chad may well share some of the responsibility, but the key word - share.  They were big boys - they were responsible as well.

Yeah I believe I read he started lifting at 36

Vince Taylor started training in 1983, which was the year he turned 27.  I am uncertain of the month he started training, but I believe it was after he turned 27.  I think that is right, but it has likely been over a decade since I saw that information.

Don Youngblood started working out around 1987-1988.  He was either 33 or 34 depending on what source you read - with Don stating either age depending on the interview.  In this interview with Ron Avidan, Don Youngblood states that he started training at age 33:

Funny, Trevor never mentioned speaking to you as a "friend", only some annoying asshole who liked to gossip who nobody trusted and who nobody could stand to be around for longer than 3 minutes. Why would he speak to you about Chad "often" if he never spoke about Chad to anybody else? As much as I enjoy the bandwagon - isn't it just as likely that the people associated with Chad are also people who are themselves excessive?

Is Chad the one telling them that they need to be bigger or are they telling Chad.

Let's not forget that Nasser just kept juicing after he finished - doubt he was working with Chad in retirement?

And is someone you pay for some prep advices someone you consider worth coming to your funeral?  I dunno, I don't really imagine my mechanic coming to my funeral ???

Trevor likely walked past Eric once in the street, Eric then translates this type of incident as a long term friendship, I would waste too much time on him Shawn.
I will look after Erics shit for the both of us..

Actually I met Trevor in 99 or 2000(?) When he was still in business with Paul Bernson with Biohazard Nutrition and I stayed with Paul and biohazard after they split until #1 Paul plagiarized stole an article on insulin and #2 never paid me for it (or the article before that, 2 months prior). I was still on good terms with Trevor and had stayed in contact with him,  so I let him know and he needs response was "come work for us and you won't have to worry about that junkie (Paul was addicted to Oxycontin and Percocet and OD'd on oxy and I believe valium and died in his sleep soon after... I met his ex-wife a couple years later in my pharmacy in Mexico a month after it was taken over by a different cartel. I've told this story a few times.) not paying you. So from then on I worked for Trevor (who always paid). If Shawn knew how Trevor died, he'd have no reason to include him in the list of "Chad's victims". At first all the rumors were that Chad's so-called victims we're having kidney trouble due to the diuretics he provided to his clients that were mercury-based and not on the list. Now, it seems somehow Chad is responsible for heart attacks and heart failure. If you knew what you were talking about Jeffery, you'd keep your nose out of it.

Nasser had been running 5g of test per week and kept his bodyweight near 300(and never once mentioned Chad, his methods/advice, or his diuretics) for years after he retired.

Even if I had met Kerry, that would have been at least 16 years ago through Paul.

Do I recall it right and at some point Paul Borresen jumped out of a (high) hospital window?

Ha - Lets just say it was one of his problems - and he had a wee bit of help getting out of that window.

you are like a champion bodybuilder in the UK if I recall right?

I ask that because you would obviously know the people being mentioned here and have credibility

yes I competed & had some Success - Plenty better than me out there.

I traveled around a lot during the 80's 90's 2000's And Met a lot the UK  'Faces' involved with the lifting scene

I know & knew the people esf is mentioning.

Still awaiting his Insulin use article to be posted...........
anytime soon would be nice Mr ESF.

So tell me how to use insulin best for mass gain? Keep in mind you're talking to a national champion, you've never won shit.

So tell me how to use insulin best for mass gain? Keep in mind you're talking to a national champion, you've never won shit.

so you equate you competing and winning to being knowledgeable with regards to insulin? lol funny i was just talking about this the other day. about how many guys with the genetics to win shows can do everything wrong and still look better than 85% of other bodybuilders, and if they do things even remotely close to "correct" they go from top 3 to 1st place.

anyways...

as far as my knowledge of insulin? feel free to use the search feature and search through the steroids and hardcore section, or search other forums for my views when i posted under the handle "InsulinShock" from 1997-2005

if you want more personal advice, aside from "use the search feature" (that one's free, btw), i'd be happy to go over some things with you for a couple hours via Skype for $200.

of those 2 options, im sure you'll chose the one that best fits your budget.

That quite clearly is you saying you wrote an article on insulin[

Is this you Youngblood is speaking of?

I remember a few years ago, someone I know from the boards said that Jeff "Box" Long heard Ronnie Coleman was doing 30iu's/day. Everyone was freaking out, and this was when Ronnie's gut really started to explode- had everyone thinking it was an insane dosage.
There was a guy over at Muscle Mayhem, aptly named "InsulinShock," who was quite the lunatic. Begging people via the net for $$$ saying he needed bail. I can't remember all the crazy shit the guy rattled off on a post per post basis. The one I DO remember, was he said he claimed to "have broken the 100iu postworkout insulin barrier." Many many people were calling him stupid, rightfully so.

dunno how i would've been asking people on message boards for "bail". think about that.

and 100iu in one shot? without GH? before Lantus? lol.. all i had back then was Novolin-R,N, and 70/30 and i supposedly was doing 100iu at 1 shot? i was "only" using 45-60iu/day total, which people back then thought was crazy and said "no way can you do that much" blah blah blah. and now, 12-14yrs later guys are "supposedly" using 100-200iu/day

The Bodies we know of and the Funerals he did not attend:

Youngblood
Atwood
Trevor Smith
Nasser
Dallas McCarver

These are a few we know of. I'm certain the Body Count is higher among the Amateurs affiliated with The Chad. :o

I was a fan of Trevor and subscribe to his mag and was on his forum. I had several exchanges with him via PM. He never mentioned working with Chad. Why would he? He wasn't prepping for a contest but just trying to get as huge as possible.

And wouldn't just about every high level bber know Chad to some degree and one could now claim he was "associated" with him? I doubt that Trevor and Nasser were working with Chad when they died. Nasser was getting on in age and still juicing and walking around at 300+ and Trevor was a walking time bomb at 6'1" 400lbs. The only guy Trevor talked about working with and getting him involved with crazy dosages was Paul Borrenson.

woah... i missed that... chad DID NOT train Trevor, Shawn. pathetic you include Trevor to push your agenda against Chad. I was friends with Trevor, you were not. I worked with Trevor and worked FOR Trevor and he never worked with Chad and he never had anything good to say about you, Shawn. (Nasser as well, who i was friendly with as well many years ago, never had anything good to say about you, yet now you're using him and his death to push your agenda against Chad. Chad had absolutely NOTHING to do with Nasser's death. Nasser CHOSE his path and THAT is what led to his early death.)

From Chad @ Muscle Mayhem:

"Kim and I just have no words right now and are in shock. I didn't find out until I got back from the Arnold - but didn't really know any details so didn't want to post yet.
I will say that Trevor Smith was a genuine person - and in this sport - it's hard to find! I had first met him 4-5 years ago - and it was just in the last 2-3 years that we had gotten a lot closer. We had even discussed going into business together and possibly doing a hardcore magazine together - as both of us had similar theories and greatly respected one another.

I can tell you that anyone who ever knew Trevor or had met him, never had a bad word for him - he was truly a great person. We just need to keep him and his family in our prayers and thoughts and hope that he is at peace now."

Funny thing is all these guys like Trevor and Paul seemed to have some spin on not taking kindly to disrespect from reading their intwrviews

Paul sounds like a total fucking idiot bragger and Trevoe who from most accounts people said was nice, but reeked of extreme insecurity in that he came across in his interviews like he though he was the only honest virtuous person in bodybuilding. And another thing that annoyed me reading the interview tih trevor was his constant whining about not having time for XYZ because he is so busy

I always laugh when someone goes out of their way to say how honest they are or how they are so so busy, usually signs of both dishonesty and trying to make everyone think you are busy so it creates some mytique and puts you in demand to have everyone try to pay attention to you

so he did know esfitness.....

I never threatened him physically. Per Trevors advice I said I'd settle for credit on the article if he couldn't afford to wire me the $60 or $80 we agreed upon per article, and after sending the same email a few times and not getting a response after a couple weeks I made an agreement with Trevor, as I had no formal contract with Paul or Biohazard (or with Trevor or Nuclear Nutrition/Gear Uzr mag).

Paul did like Cytadren, Nolva, Clomid, Primo (shipped him 3k amps from Mexico and spent fucking hours preparing and packing them. I actually got paid up front and made about $2k, but then he tried some fuckery saying he never received the box when we had tracking and saw he received. Eventually said he did receive it a month later. Of the law enforcement it wasn't my deal I was just a middleman between him and the pharmacy. Same thing I used to do until I eventually bought a share of that Pharmacy), Winstrol, and porcine (pig) insulin. Something called "Act-Rapid", similar to Humalog. The shit hit hard and fast and left you dead tired. I remember one time I returned to the nutrition store I ran when Scott Markey was an employee with tons of burgers, chicken tenders, and a couple large vanilla shakes (both for me.. I also paid for all the food as Scott was always broke), soon as i walked in the door we shot the Act Rapid. Scott did maybe 7iu at most and I did 18iu. 10mins later the shit kicks in and we pound the food as fast as we could and after that we went outside and sat down on the low, wide steps off to the left past the vacuum guys shop next door. After about 3 mins we both laid back on those steps and passed out dead tired, dead asleep for about 45mins. Eventually I got a nudge in my shoulder that wakes me up and I set up and I see the vacuum guy and he's been sitting there watching us dead asleep on the steps of a strip mall, and it says there was about three or four customers that walked in the store and then walked out after a while but nobody stole anything LOL. I could just imagine what the people were thinking, with Del Mar being a nice area and that strip mall being next to a couple communities with million-dollar homes (think "Real Housewives of Orange County") and there's a couple big buffed out veiny bodybuilder dudes passed out on the sidewalk steps with people walking Past us or around us haha. I remember waiting for a phone call from corporate expecting somebody to call and complain, but it never came.  Believe I only used that actrapid insulin two or three times after that and just stuck with Humulin R. I also remember spending like 600 bucks on cytadren ordering it from pharmagroup.com and really not noticing much even at 750mg/day. At least it wasn't much different from nolvadex as far as how you looked.
