Is this new lifestyle based on empathy toward animals?

Is this new lifestyle based on empathy toward animals?
No, not really, although it is horrific how animals get treated.
This is not something new. I have cut out meat products before and felt better overall. But, this time around, I think I will do it for a longer stretch of time. It didn't impact my performance in the gym either.
-
Would comit suicide if I had to eat in that manner every day
-
Who is the picture of that keeps getting thrown around, with the steaks.

I applaud your dedication. I will eat a T bone and drink a beer later.

to be honest, it gets very easy once you get used to it!!

Wow, a real like Peter Griffin.

Who is the picture of that keeps getting thrown around, with the steaks.
There was a gimmick last year named Jon Harridan who posted those pictures.
Walter Sobchak for some strange reason, started to call me an overweight asian. DJ181 and ESFITNESS started to believe Walter and posting those pics, stating that it was me. Of course DJ181 and ESFITNESS, being not so sharp, continue to believe its me. So, I just go along with it! :D :D
-
I applaud your dedication. I will eat a T bone and drink a beer later.
Meh, as stated, it gets quite easy.
Todays lunch is:
Whole grain pasta with assorted vegetables (asparagus, avacado, mushrooms, red onion, and peppers) with a piece of pita bread with hummus.

Maybe for someone who is already a healthy eater, my diet is atrocious and id struggle massively to adapt.

My diet was never atrocious, so I guess it was a little easier to get used to.
However, I believe in you Henda!!

I honestly think I’d die, or smash wor lass though the coffee table in a hunger rage.
Today’s eating was
Breakfast - fried bacon and egg sandwich, several bags of crisps and a pint of full fat milk
Dinner - a few sausage rolls and more bags of crisps
Tea - massive serving of donner meat with chips and a smokey sausage and some pop from the local chip shop
-
You have the diet of a 52 year old women's studies professor. Congrats.
-
Thats a solid diet. I eat very similar. Im not a complete vegan I just eat meat rarely(maybe once/twice a month). I haven't noticed any strength gains cutting out meat, but I have quite a bit more energy and recover better with little to no joint soreness. Perhaps the biggest difference i have noticed is very good digestion. Pretty much no stomach aches and no bloating ever. BM's are regular now. It may be worth noting I cut out dairy long ago because I'd fart and shit my brains our from any of it.
-
No salmon even? I have never eaten red meat or pork. However I love fish and seafoods.
-

Yet, there have been people who eat similar diets who are young lifters and runners and other types of athletes ??? ???
When did that sort of diet get hijacked by only 52 year old womens studies professor? People of all ages and professions eat a similar diet. ??? ???

Breakfast: Oatmeal and fruit
Lunch: Whole grain pasta and assorted veggies
Dinner: Most likely a salad.

No, I do not eat seafood. I HATE ALL seafood. The last time I ate seafood, I was around 7 years old.

Patrik Baboumian is world level powerlifter and vegan. There are many examples of meatless athletes.

100%.
The huge difference I have noticed is no acid indigestion, no bloating, less joint pain, and passing a bowel is EASY!! As gross as it sounds, it just kind of falls out--you don't even have to push.
Similarly, I have not noticed any decrease in strength or size.
The meat industry has duped people into making them believe that you need a lot of meat to be healthy. FALSE!! Also, like you, I will still consume meat, but rarely. Ill probably consume some turkey on thanksgiving.

whole eggs, the yolk has all the good stuff
Egg yolks contain a rich array of essential vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamins A, D, E, B12 and K, riboflavin, folate and iron, while the whites are a great source of low-calorie protein

Not that I know of. He clearly isn't anyway. He merely demonstrates that nutritionally meat/dairy aren't needed to perforn at a high level.
-
Has your skin improved?
I do not know. I have a mild case of dermatitis on my face and use cream. So, it would be difficult to say if the improvements of my skin are due to the food or the cream (I have been using this cream for a while now). This is the problem with confounding variables in research!

Exactly. They are all on drugs, so it evens the playing field anyway. Yet, he still demonstrates effective strength being on a vegan diet.
Though, I am definitely not vegan!

This thought makes me dry wretch.

I eat meat maybe once a week, at friends. Lately it's been:
Meal 1: lentils, tofu or falafel, broccoli
Meal 2: oats in water, peanut butter, chocolate powder
Meal 3: scoop of protein and banana
Meal 4: tofu, oil, vegetables stir fry + a sweet potato. Some fruit and peanut butter powder if I'm still hungry.
-

Sorry....lol

I am actually not that big of a fan of dark chocolate, but it gives me my fix and provides some good antioxidants.
-
Humans are carnivores. Act like it.
-
I just finished eating an egg white omelette with spinach, mushroom, red onions, and peppers.
I had same sans the shrooms

Interesting. I never really considered tofu or falafel.
I may incorporate meat every few weeks. There is just too many benefits to reducing meat consumption. You can get all the proper nutrition from other sources, so its better to just avoid meats. Plant-based is just a better option and the research is showing its a great alternative to meat-based and has tons of health benefits.
-
I had same sans the shrooms
Nice.
Limited meat consumption is the best way to go.
For example, there is way more nutrition benefits to eating green leafy vegetables compared to eating a piece of steak.
-
I am actually not that big of a fan of dark chocolate, but it gives me my fix and provides some good antioxidants.
Stick with it as it’s very good for you.
-
I'm not a huge meat fan, I think I will folllow the SF1900 protocol I think they call them 90% vegetarians. Whenever I go camping my friends try to offer me big hunks of steak pork chicken they think it's weird when I turn them down I'm just not that into meat by itself. I don't mind eating meat if it's on a burrito or something like a cheeseburger.
-

I buy dark chocolate that is 72%+.

There are too many benefits to eating a plant-based diet. You just can't go wrong. There are really no bad side effects to eating too much spinach or broccoli. However, there is obviously bad side effects to eating too much red meat or pork.
I don't even know how people can deny the obvious. Load up on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and limit meat consumption. One should always eat way more servings of vegetables, fruits, whole grains when compared to meat.
I sort of follow the Mediterranean diet.
-
Mediterranean pyramid looks good but I don't eat seafood and I recall you saying you don't either.
Also be advised while plants are certainly healthy there are some issues. For example many plants we eat should not be eaten raw because they contain toxins (plants don't want to be eaten either ;) )
-

That is why I said I "SORT OF" follow the Mediterranean diet because I don't eat seafood. Had to make some adjustments.
Well, of course. I am not saying just grab a handful of plants and start eating them. Of course, the ones that need to be cooked should be cooked.
-
Tofu makes you grow tits. I suggest Arimidex with your tofu.

Crap, forgot to ask:
When you tell people that you do not eat meat, what is their response? People look at me like I have 10 heads. Then, they start to get me to eat seafood. They say, "Oh, but you will probably like lobster." Um, no. They keep going down the list of seafoods, as if my answer will change. I wish I did like seafood, but I just don't. I can't even stand the smell. If its real strong, I start to gag.

Seafood is high in kelp, which is good for a healthy thyroid.

I know those Mediterraneans love their wine. I also dislike, most, if not all alcohol. But, yeah, the evidence is overwhelming.

I don't mind meat being in my food like stir fry, on a pizza, burrito, Chinese food etc I'm just not into eating a hunk of meat like steak, pork loin and such. Usually they just keep offering. Seafood I just don't like. The only seafood I eat is so heavily breaded and deep fried that is certainly not healthy and I will only eat that a few times a year.
-

Don't matter. I can't stand the taste of seafood, no matter how healthy it is for you.
I take a fish oil vitamin and sometimes when I burp, I taste the fish come back up, and I want to vomit!

I take Resveratrol in supplement form.

And don't get me started on bacon. Bacon is just ok, don't see why people get so excited over it. As far as breakfast meat I prefer sausage. (No kielbasa)

lately, I use about a stick of salted butter, a tablespoon or two of coconut oil along with a very healthy measure of olive oil while preparing various forms of animal protein that i devour throughout the day... often washing that down with beer... and I'm fit as a fiddle

Ill have the occasional lean chicken or turkey.
As for bacon and red meat, its pretty much totally out of my diet. There is NOTHING healthy about bacon. As you said, I don't get why people go crazy for it.
For breakfast, its usually oatmeal (unflavored) with fruit, water, and vitamins.

Not these days mate, did the traditional uk hammered every weekend (including Thursday night that was start of the weekend then haha) for a long time, it lost its appeal when the pub/club scene died and I had kids. Maybe have a drink once every few months now mate.
I take it by the username at least at some point you enjoyed the same mate?

Really gratifying to see that my posts have had such a positive impact on you. Not too long ago, you told me you couldn't imagine living a vegan lifestyle. Yet here you are now, on a complete 180, basically parroting what I said in that thread.

Before cows were "invented" in your formative years, what kind of meat did you rely on to fulfill your protein quota?
Sabertooth?
T-Rex?

Sounds like a great healthy diet bud,but I have gotta` eat me some beef.
I began to ask myself, "Why do I need to eat this steak or hamburger?" I really didn't have a justified reason, except, "Well, it tasted good."
That was not a strong enough justification to eat a hamburger.
But, I do miss the concept of a "hamburger." I did enjoy eating a hamburger with tomatoes, onions, and cheese on a potato bun. I can replace the potato bun with a whole wheat bun and keep the same vegetables--I have to find a good alternative to a hamburger. Perhaps Ill look into veggie hamburgers. :D :D

Have fun looking for a viable substitute for beef Falcon! LOL :D

Well, I know there really is no viable option for beef lol. I'd just have to make it a veggie burger or something.
I just enjoy the concept of having a "burger" even if its not meat.

I haven't eaten meat in years and it's one of the few things I take pride in. It's not easy when you eat out often and most people associate vegetarians with the ranting morons on YouTube! I arrived at my own reasons for doing this at a young age, though they are perhaps best enunciated by Peter Singer in his book Animal Liberation. They are, I believe, entirely logical and most would at least agree with them in principle if not in practice. I would like to think that I maintain a reasonable physique despite not taking any supplements, and though my protein intake is low and I currently pay little attention to my diet, I'm still able to maintain a good level of strength and endurance.

Sf1900 have you tried these burgers?

Good for you! And, solid physique! Anyone can maintain a good physique by eating a plant-based diet.

I actually like these. I try not to eat them too much but they are a tasty vegan snack!

As I learned more about the horrific realities of meat production I gradually ate less and less of it. I'm no vegan but I go for weeks with just milk, eggs, yogurt and Whey being my only protein sources, it feels good knowing no one had to die to feed my need for alpha-ness and I still easily make a gram per pound of body weight. I still enjoy a good steak when I eat out or occasionally at home but can see myself perhaps going total vegan eventually.
What a system where to thrive you must consume weaker beings, heh? Any Gnostics in the house? LOL!
-
Do you do this while under the influence?
I hear coconut oil is pretty healthy for cooking. Id have to read up on it.
Coconut Oil taste = :P :P :P
-
I rarely eat meat outside of fish (tuna). I still have a lot of diary though through milk, cheese and whey.
I once went on a vegan diet for a few months. Was closest I've ever been to being shredded. I might go vegan fully one day. Eating meat becomes hard to justify once you become aware of how grotesque the meat industry is.

Rumor from koala land goes that Basile puts coconut oil on his dick for its moisture properties :o
-
eggs
eggs really r perfect.... all that protein goodness, and u dont have to murder anything. too bad eggs dont taste like lamb, beef or pork, tho. meat will remain king, and is the appropriate dietary choice for real men.

It goes way deeper than that.

I've found them at trader joes for pretty cheap. Not sure if you have trader joes where you're at? Most grocery and health food stores should have them.
