LA JUNTA, Colo. (CBS4) – An admitted murderer was elected to serve on the East Otero School Board in La Junta.
Thomas Seaba pleaded guilty to murdering a fellow Marine in the 90s. A detective on the case said Seaba shot the victim five times.
Seaba moved back to Colorado after getting out of jail and got a job with La Junta’s Wastewater Department.
His past was well known during the school board race.
“Although, it was obvious a set of horrific mistakes compounding on one another which led to me serving time in prison,” said Seaba.
The East Otero School District’s superintendent, Rick Lovato, said “We researched to see what the criteria was. It is not outside of the rights for a person with a felony conviction to run for the office.”
The only thing that would bar someone for running for school board in Colorado is a sex crime against a child.
Lovato says the district will not interfere with the voters’ decision.

Being convicted of murder means he can't vote or go back in the USMC, etc.
BUT, he can serve on the school board and determine the direction of education for children.

That a celebrity and business man can get elected to the highest office in this nation after it is revealed and undisputable that he bragged about moving on a married woman like a bitch, tried to bang her while he was married, grabs women by their p&^% and kisses them without permission, mocked a prisoner of war for being captured, stated he could shot someone on 5th avenue and wouldn't lose a supporter, filed bankruptcy at least 4 times and bragged about it, refused to release his tax returns, bragged about not paying taxes as smart, attacked a gold star family and makes a habit of calling other adults by insulting nicknames, it makes it easier for me to accept that a person convicted of murder and served his time, gets elected to a school board.

I agree. However I wasn't justifying, I was saying I'm not as shocked as I might have been pre Trump. The fact a Governor says she has no reason to not believe the Moore accusers, yet will still vote for someone she thinks preyed on 14 year old girls because they need the votes in the senate might have shocked me pre Trump, but not as much now. No telling what people will accept

It sucks when the 2 candidates for POTUS are awful. Once again we are left to determine who will likely do the least amount of damage in 4 years. I can almost understand someone holding their nose to vote for Trump because they find Hillary too awful to vote for.. I can't understand people who are excited about him and think he is what this country needs.

He is turning out to be much better than I thought he would be. I'm really surprised.
But Hillary Clinton? She is a snake. I am so grateful that she is not POTUS and that her political career is over. I just wish the media would stop kissing her rear end and giving her a microphone.

Because of the two, I think she would have done less damage overall. I wouldn't wake up every day wondering what stupid thing she did or said to further embarrass my country. With the majority Republican congress, there would be little chance of her doing major damage. Fortunately Trump has been such an ass clown that his own party and the courts are regulating him pretty well at the moment regarding his legislation ideas. Unfortunately he can't keep his mouth shut

Seems like if this guy is out of prison after serving only 16 years, there must have been some special circumstances. Colorado reinstated the death penalty in 1974. Murder is a class 1 felony in Colorado. The sentence for such a crime is at minimum, life in prison with parole eligibility after 40 years.
