Maybe she did it with the intention to further her career, or maybe she didn't. She did indeed list herself as a minority in professional directories commonly used by recruiters.
There is also no proof that she is Native American or any other ethnic minority as she claimed, and her stated reasons for doing so are still to this day questionable.
