Title: Going to the dr with the flu
Post by: calfzilla on December 30, 2017, 04:00:58 PM
Why do otherwise healthy adults with the flu go to the doctor? What do they expect them to do. Why not just rest and let it run its course.  ???

I guess it's because the otherwise healthy people are dying from it in some cases.

Antibiotics can help it go away faster.

Antibiotics can help it go away faster.

But at what cost, bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics. Weak American pussies IMO.

Influenza is a virus. Antibiotics are not prescribed for viruses.

One damn good reason to go to the doctor upon the initial onset of the flu, is to get Tamaflu.
If you catch it early enough in it's onset, you will be feeling great it just a few hours. Miss the window, however, and you have to ride it out.

Because sometimes there is a co-infection that is bacterial in addition to the virus.  Rule of thumb, if you have a fever, you have bacterial infection.

If Jim Henson had started a course of generic oral antibiotics that morning, he would have recovered.

I have a friend who has been in a coma for 2 months because of the flu..this years strain has a high probability of turning into pneumonia and killing even healthy adults

He is still in the coma, sustained decent brain damage..he is currently slightly above a vegetable and they don’t know if he will ever get better.

So, go to the fucking doctor!
