I don't believe Branch competed much in 2017. Seems like he may have faded into retirement without a formal announcement. However, it looks like he is making a "comeback" based on his recent instagram post. If he competes, it looks like we will have to deal with him making top 6 in every show.

I believe Branch owns a company (distribution company). It seems like he is nicely off and does not need to compete.
But, of course, we all know that he will get a few gift placings and will show up at the 2018 Mr. O and crack top 6 (or at least top 8).
The judges REALLY seem to enjoy giving Branch placings that he doesn't deserve. More so than anyone else.

OSF, I think everything you say is accurate. He clearly has paid his dues in more ways than one and this likely contributes to his gifted placings.
