Title: What type of red meat do you buy @ store VS what do you order @ restaurants?
Post by: Royalty on March 07, 2018, 12:26:42 AM
I often order the large Rib Eye steak (delmonico steak) at restaurants. But I never get that type of steak at the grocery store.

For home, I get Top Round Steak or Sirloin or just ground beef. Once in a while I might get a NY Strip Streak or a T-Bone Steak. But that’s not very often.

I don't eat a lot of steak at home.  I eat mostly chicken, turkey, and 93% lean ground beef.

When I eat steak at a restaurants I only order filet mignon.

Restaurant - Porterhouse or Ribeye.

Home - Tri-tip, top sirloin, London broil (yes, I know it's flank, but I grew up calling it just London broil), and very occasionally, hanger.

I'm more of a seafood guy at restaurants.

Don't eat any red meat when I'm at home. Would normally order sirloin in a restaurant if I'm having steak.

Rib Eye at home to bbq.

Generally order rack of lamb at restaurants.

I only eat red meat a couple of times a month though.

I only order sirloins at restaurants...I do this because:

A) I cook a better steak at home
B) I prefer to order seafood or pork at a restaurant
C) I usually eat a shit load of appetizers at restaurants and don’t really feel like eating the main course

I’m pretty much pescatarian these days...but still cook filets and ribeyes every couple of weeks

Some tips for the younger, not a millionaire yet Getbiggers:

Blade steak = poor man's ribeye

Monk fish = poor man's lobster

That's all I got.

I typically will buy blade steak for home , while ordering rib eye while out.

Truthfully, I've always been more of a burger and fries guy, call me simple - but give me a really good burger from a nice, atmospheric restaurant and a beer and I'm as content as a King at a royal banquet.  ;D

There will come a day when I switch to a diet that reflects my attitude towards the sanctity of life and animal rights but I'm not quite there yet.

Only thing red meat is good for is raising total body inflammation.

I typically take around 9,000 mg of fish oil a day and have for years - it's something everyone who lifts should be taking for many reasons.

If you say so. We’re all going to die eventually, I’m not looking to speed the process up. The only animal products I eat are egg whites, seafood and lean ground turkey.
