What do people think of this? The bloke who did the tv program about it KOMIE INVASION trains in my gym. Any of you done it? Rate it
-
I'm sure GB's resident anti-Semites will have an opinion on this.
-
When screamed at potential assailants, the words sound way less ghey than screaming "I know Jujitsu" - and that's whats really important in a life or death situation.
-
krava maga is really just "keep a pen on you and stab someone in the eye."

My buddy is a hardcore SAMBO guy and a complete badass. Watched him manhandle three Chechens at once during a bar scuffle on night when I was living in Odessa.
Anyway, he sparred with an Israeli dude that trained in Krav Maga and it was a draw really.
KM is great stuff when you need to get out of a situation fast or end your opponent lethally.
The main deal with KM schools in the US is that most don’t allow sparring. This is a red flag!
Also, some are really sketchy when it comes to tracing the schools links back to actual KM masters in Israel.
A good KM school allows sparring and can prove lineage.

Bas Rutten says that it is hands down the best form of self defense that a person can learn. And Bas knows his shit.

Yep, start doing Krava Maga and expect a prison term...

Eye poking and ball kicking doesn't really work in a fight.
maybe vs some unaware tard
in short it's complete BS
Boxing and combined with some bjj gets you prepared for real fights.

Exactly. Guys who think they have an ace up their ass with eye poking and ball kicking that think they can defeat a trained fighter are living in a delusional world. Truth is instead of tapping you out they will put you to sleep then break every joint in your body for trying to eye gouge them. Some of the best fighters are wrestlers who learns how to box and practices Jui jitsu. So much nonsense in the martial arts world. If you don't spar with a real opponent that's trying to kick you're ass it's just delusional fiction.
I would suggest to anyone that thinks BBJ or boxing is bs to go to a gym and roll on the mats or do some real sparing in the ring. It's humbling.

I’ve fought some good fighters who knew their shit far more than me and I’ve grabbed balls a few times and I can say it works. Also grabbed and snapped fingers as well as throat poke and if nothing else is working and you go for balls, eyes etc... it can and does work.
-
you can go for the balls even if it's not a fight
just saying

It's a fast changing world, here in Colorado you might very easily find yourself staring down a barrel in any given confrontation - I try to keep this in mind when road rage and such rears it's ugly head as I'm a fan of breathing.

self defense lesson no 1
avoid roads to avoid road rage

When was the last tiime anyone here was involved in a street fight. Not just a stupid bar one that went outside for 15 seconds. A real no holds barred knock down drag em out fight for your life? So many conversations evoke around a street fight as to who system works or not. Willingness and who does not hesitate and strikes first is usually going to be the victor. In most cases.

Honestly I love to fight and look for any chance I can get to brawl.Last good street fight was prob 4 years ago, been in a few fights since but not all out craziness.most people I know don’t hang with me because they know I need excitement and know I’m up for anything at anytime.
Not the toughest but I don’t give a fuck either way and I can take a hell of a beating.

Not really life or death , but a drunken soldier from a nearby military base mistook my house for someone else's and tried to break in. It actually felt really fantastic to body slam him several times and then sit on him till the cops came - I'm 50 and it's been a really long time since the adrenaline high you get from that sort of thing. In truth I'm an OK grappler and powerlifting definitely gives me some advantage over regular dudes - but the kid was drunk so..........meh.
-
soldiers follow orders, all you had to do was to tell him to leave

to avoid break ins, always leave the door unlocked

You are pretty comical

Guy told me that who won the Krav sparring came down to who had other training. Boxers won with boxing, grapplers won with locks and chokes.
If you find yourself in an actual fight that you can't disengage from then it's 99% likely that you volunteered for it even if you didn't precipitate it. So for training just choose something you actually enjoy, which you can practice without risk of lasting injury, and which surrounds you with cool people. In my limited experience BJJ guys are really cool and into sharing what they know. Who cares if it's not the last word in practical fighting effectiveness. It's fun, effective enough if it had to be, and you're not getting your brain sloshed around. Any martial art is basically a fitness hobby anyway unless you're a pro fighter, soldier, cop, or an idiot who invites trouble instead of walking away from it.

The obvious problem is that every douche thinks their fighting system is the best.
It usually comes down to the individual.
Things like personal skill, guts and pain tolerance.

I don't understand this mentality. I am not saying it's good or bad, I just don't understand it. I have literally seen a dozen people who's lives were changed due to an altercation over nothing. A bad fall, hitting the curb at that wrong angle, taking a blow and falling back on the sidewalk and into a coma. Loss of use of limbs.. over someones perceived insult. We all think we will just fight it out and walk away and many times that happens but there are times when the unexpected happens and that can be your next fight. When I worked the streets, I almost always felt if I had to resort to physical means, I dropped the ball on deescalating the situation. I would much rather talk through a confrontation than get into a physical fight because you never know if some weird thing will happen you least expect.
-
I can beat you all up
-
at least you then know how to defend yourself in prison
the best way to defend yourself in prison is to have Flex magazine delivered which would demonstrate to the other cons that you are an available "bottom" and to quote Tbombz, "let the good times roll"

Some of you commenting here said Conor Mcgregor in his first boxing match was going to beat Floyd Mayweather the undefeated best boxer of the last 25 years, hence you re know nothing about combat sports and think you re tough cos you have tattoos. Go away

you cant compare fighting in the cage with fighting on the street, not to mention grappling in the bedroom
different things entirely

I got in really nasty tussel at a bonfire when I was in my early twenties it lasted a few minutes. Dude was a brown belt he tried to kick me in the knee like Jon Jones does. I took karate for several years and wrestled in highschool. I checked the leg kick and hit a power double. I ended up on top of him in full mount. He tried to scratch/poke my eyes out. I nearly bit two of his fingers off. Fight was done shortly after. I felt the fight come out of him when his fingers started to crunch. I made him quit.
-
I've read a few books by this dude Geoff Thompson. He was scared of confrontation so he became a door man in some really rough spots.

Can't do that if a skilled striker lands a clean shot on your jaw or temple
-
best defence is sprinting....
-
Can't do that if a skilled striker lands a clean shot on your jaw or temple
That’s why you always strike first so the skilled striker can’t knock you out.But nothing ever works all the time and anyone can win on any given day.
-
best defence is sprinting....
Hahaha I guess this is true
-

I think who lands first usually wins. Train for the first shot. If you think something is really going to go down land first with a hard well placed shot. Even on a seasoned fighter if you can land a good strike to the jaw temple solar plex first you can follow up with soccer kicks head stomps.

A big deal is made these days about learning a martial art for self defence but unless you are up to something that you shouldn’t or are very unlucky you should normally only ever have to defend yourself against some drunk bum or the insecure type who know they are absolute pussies and are so desperate to prove themselves they start bother every where they go, generally trained fighters or people who can handle themselves don’t go about starting fights they are usually very secure in who they are and don’t feel the need to prove anything or tell anyone how “tough” they are (if someone feels the need to announce how tough they are, they are usually far from it).

Yep, jaw and temple is were its at

when do you start with the knocking out first?
is the time when somebody is look at you too late? better hit him to be sure.
-

Can't imagine him having the time and nerves to escape the "scene" he's in. Most likely done as time is ticking.
Sucks big time.

I agree that there are exceptions, a lad my dad ran around with in his younger days was the same as the guy you mentioned, was notoriously hard as nails but just had to be fighting every where he went.
Toughest bloke I ever knew was the complete opposite, never breathed a word of what he was or had any form of ego about it and you could joke and call him worse than shit and he’d laugh it off, someone even set his hair on fire in the pub and he still took it as a joke haha

That's great he was like that, I agree normally good fighters are humble about it but it's the sloppy, loud mouthed bully boys that get pissed and start on people for no reason. The bullys will glass you and seriously fuck you up but they are not normally technically good fighters.

I prefer to use the mystical ki-ya chi powers like Super Duper Master George Dillman teaches.
I focus my energy and direct my screams at me opponent. They usually run to get their phones or drop out of sheer hysterical laughing fear.
I'm not to be messed with...I'm ultra dangerous.

You create a "fence" a line. If someone steps over it twice lights out.

They were talking about it on Rogan a few days ago.

Unfortunately not always. You have to be ready for the repercussions potential comebacks.

Your right mate and also the fuckers that go about in their little groups I remember that was the in thing back in the busy days of our towns local nightclub, one group from a nearby town was notorious for it they were all skinny little soft cu nts who couldn’t fight sleep individually but would go around singling out drunk people on their own and piling on them over nothing or some shit that they themselves orchestrated.
