Former Goodyear teacher Brittany Zamora has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, the lowest possible sentence allowed for her crime, after pleading guilty to molesting a 13-year-old student.
She will be on probation for the rest of her life and must register as a sex offender. She will get credit for the 478 days she's already served in prison.

The statement about attending counselling suggests that she thought she was going to walk away a free woman, and she made the statement about earning a new degree while in prison fully expecting not to have to go there in the first place, let alone sit in prison for over a decade.

Nah, i think a year in prison and the stigma after is enough.Really i agree with you there shouldnt be any criminal punishment in a perfect world, but a man would get 20 years in every case.And in reality it is a different situation in every case.There are plenty of cases where girls these days are having sex at 12 and by 13-15 they are coming on to males they find attractive, in court its shown the girl was the pursuer but the guy will still get 20 years.Its strange how we want equality in the sexes but still want to treat women as dainty little flowers that need protection when it suits them/us.Science has even shown the female brain matures faster.Statistically females have way more sexual partners than men.We secretly pat the young males on the back and acknowledge he loved every minute of it but of course all the young females must have been forced.Doesnt fly in my mind in 2019.Life isnt black and white, we simply lack the IQ currently to make proper distinctions on a case by case basis on how much mental trauma was caused, if any, to the underage male/female and who was doing more of the chasing.If both parties wanted sex, then jail the male or female for a year and let them deal with the social stigma when released.Of course this is all very different if the older person is forcing the issue on the younger person.The one who really is innocent in this specific case and has had the most pain caused to them is the husband, so then should we start jailing everyone who ever cheated and caused pain to another who found out?I think we can all agree the feeling of being cheated on is way worse than any bad sexual encounter we ever had.

I don't believe in locking non-violent offenders up for long stretches like that. Punishment is appropriate but 20 years is way too much.
