Title: The Fine Art of Kissing...
Post by: Deedee on September 17, 2006, 06:10:13 AM
Everyone knows that people in porn flicks never kiss because it’s too personal.  Allegedly, prostitutes never kiss their clients either for the same reason. It's also been said that people who’ve been together for a long time stop kissing each other as well.

I always thought kissing someone was the next step (after initial attraction, long eye contact, etc) to knowing whether you want to be with someone at all. Is it possible to be with someone longterm if you hate their kissing style? I don’t even think it’s something you can teach someone…am I wrong?

I also couldn’t imagine losing interest in kissing someone regularly, even when the relationship was “old”…that would feel like a small death.  :'(

Does that make you feel liberated... :)

Or have you been married for 20 years...

...porn star  ???

I think for those who have been with each other for a long time stop the long kissing and only peck each other when first getting home or leaving one another for the day or whatever.  It is really sad, because once that happens you have lost a lot of passion in the relationship.   :-[

well dancing was easy to let go of...i sucked and its really quite a rediculous thing for any man to participate in.

as for kissing, i think it complicates things. Its quite a personal act, sharing fluids and the likes. i went thru a stage of kissing girls on the first date, kissing girls in clubs, kissing girls i had no intention of ever seeing again, the kiss for me has been tarnished...i abused the kiss.

the next girl i kiss will be someone special, in the meantime no kissing...i like the way it frustrates the hell out of girls and it makes the breakup less complicated...almost expected

Then how will you know if you've met the special one, since you're driving them all away by refusing to be intimate, before you could possibly find out?

i look for more than a 'good kisser' in a partner. im a difficult person to be around at the best of times because of my personal agenda...everything else in my life comes before my girlfriend.

i just dont rate the kiss anymore as an indicator and like you said...its more intimate than sex

That just sounds so practical.  :-\

Yes, I guess you would look for more than great kissing from a long-term love interest, (although I think it's a good indicator in the beginning of how sensual etc someone is going to be) I just don't know of too many women who would go past that step one, before heading on to step two.

you'd be surprised...haha

youre right tho, a lot can be learnt from a kiss...but if you cant tell from the way a person carries themselves, the way they move...then a kiss isnt going to tell you much more

i think that kissing is an intregal part of a good relationship.  It is a reaffirmation of passion.  Kissing is a way of showing love in many ways.  From the peck to more passionate kissing, from soft loving kisses to the more passionate harder intense kissing.  Holding a woman close with your hand on her back,  the other holding her head/face and kissing her is a great feeling.

I so agree!!  Kissing is a test of true intimacy.  The flutters in your stomach, the euphoria in your head...you know thats a real kiss.  I would say I prefer it to sex, but it leads to it anyway.  I'm very affectionate so I give hugs and kisses any chance I get.

I would assume after being with the same person for many, many years...you tend to do alot of things less than when you first got together.  Its just up to the couple to keep the fire burning.  It takes effort and a constant need to make the other person happy.  Like Dr. Phil says...you should wake up every morning and ask yourself, what can I do today to make my spouse happy.

Sometimes it may only take a long lingering kiss to do that! :-*

prostitutes don't kiss because they're not getting paid enough and that's not what the bloke really wants either.

You can definitely teach how to kiss.  You just say (or show) how you like it.  And hug.

And ask if it's good...  Ask what he wants.  But he probably wants you to kiss him elsewhere.

I've had 3 long term relationships and we snogged.  Otherwise I'da fucked off.

Maybe it's about nice teeth.   Or if they smoke.  Or if we've both eaten garlic?

Kissing compatability has always been a big thing for me. All of my fond memories of girlfriends past are of wonderful kisses. It heightens the bond and strengthens the meaning.

With that said, my wife and I were not compatable kissers from the start. We were very compatable sexually, but did not engage in passionate, lengthy kisses.

We're still working on it. We are both aware that it's a weak point and both want to improve for each other. In the meantime, it's funny because we tease each other for our blunders.

For the record, I'm the good kisser in the family! Hehehe.

Atleast you know a weak point in the relationship and are working to fix it.  Props to you and your wife for the good communication skills and ability to joke about it!!!!

If you aren't laughing, you are usually fighting. I hate to fight with girls, because I'm big and mean and make them cry, LOL. Then I feel like a dog who wounded his playmate, all sad and stupid!

Kissing is extreamly important, its the first step to be intimate with another. It tells you what type of person you are letting into your safety zone. You are allowing the first move in the game of chess that a relationship is. After time goes by you should always keep a desire to kiss your partner. There is something renewing and recharging when you touch tongues and passionatly kiss your partner you have been with for awile. There is something exciting and magical about the first kiss but the same can be said for a suprise deep toe curling kiss from someone you love when you least expect it.Kissing is sometimes as good as a hug when your team loses...:)

I have another point...

You have to be able to point (and curl) your tongue.  Apparantly only 50% of us are able to do that, I'm told it's one of those genetically advanced things.

There is an art in kissing? That's like saying "the art of sex." Sure, there's a karmasutra, but some people can do missionary their whole lives and still get a kick out of it. The art is inside every person and it's a different art to each of us. Kissing is a beautiful thing when it's truly welcomed and given out.

there is a art to kissing and sex its not just doing what you feel inside its learning to do what works. You don't drive a car without learning how to first and it's the same with sex and kissing. To many people think sex is a innate ability but its not you have to work and cultivate the ability and practice and reform and adapt and grow and improvise and study to make it the best you can. If you aren't working to be better and bring something new to the table eventaually your partner will get board.Being open minded and experimental with your partner as you grow and learn together and discover new ways or ideas can be extreamly fun and exciting.

I think I'm going to have to agree with everything you say here. Although that euphoric feeling in the beginning is often overwhelming I think a certain perceptiveness and willingness to learn and discover more all the time is the only way to keep a sexual relationship alive and thriving over time. And that includes kissing... :)

I love to kiss.  I find it a wonderful simple way to say lots of nice things to somebody without every speaking.  For example:

The other day a guy was walking the cutest little puppy in the world and I stopped him and asked if I could pet the little guy.  I played with the little puppy (damn he was sooooooo cute) for a little while and I still feel good about it.  Because he let me play with his puppy and I felt good I gave him a kiss on the cheek and said thanks, then I walked away.  Now he is going to think good thoughts, whatever those are about the kiss.  Thoughts that I couldn't even now about so I couldn't put into words.

A kiss is a very powerful thing in my books.

Kissing a lover is an entire different thing.  It is about passion but again it something I can't express in words because you can never truly know what the other party is thinking.  I put my feelings and passions into it and they will make them their own feelings and passions.  Nothing else can really do that as simple and as powerful as a kiss for me.

Then again kissing has got me in trouble, even got me fired.  ;D

where are you leading me, oh enchanting houri, and how long shall i follow you upon this hispid road, planted with Thorns?  How long shall our souls ascend And descend painfully on this twisting and Rocky path?

Like a child following his mother I am Following you, holding the extreme end of your garment, forgetting my dreams |And staring at your beauty, blinding My eyes under your spell to the Procession of spectres hovering above me, and attracted to you by an inner Force within me which I cannot deny.

Halt for a moment and let me see your Countenance; and look upon me for a Moment; perhaps I will learn your Heart's secrets through your strange Eyes.  Stop and rest, for I am weary, And my soul is trembling with fear Upon this horrible trail.  Halt, for We have reached that terrible crossroad Where Death embraces Life.

Oh Houri, listen to me! I was as free As the birds, probing the valleys and The forests, and flying in the spacious Sky.  At eventide I rested upon the Branches of the trees, mediating the Temples and palaces in the City of the Colourful Clouds which the Sun builds In the morning and destroys before Twilight.

I was like a thought, walking alone And at peace to the East and West of The Universe, rejoicing with the Beauty and joy of Life, and inquiring Into the magnificent mystery of Existence.

I was like a dream, stealing out under The friendly wings of the night, Entering through the closed windows Into the maidens' chambers, frolicking And awakening their hopes... Then I Sat by the youths and agitated their Desires...

Then I probed the elders' Quarters and penetrated their thoughts
Of serene contentment.

Then you captured my fancy, and since
That hypnotic moment I felt like a
Prisoner dragging his shackles and
Impelled into an unknown place...
I became intoxicated with your sweet
Wine that has stolen my will, and I
Now find my lips kissing the hand
That strikes me sharply.  Can you
Not see with your soul's eye the
Crushing of my heart? Halt for a
Moment; I am regaining my strenght
And untying my weary feet from the
Heavy chains.  I have crushed the
Cup from which I have drunk your
Tasty venom...  But now I am in
A strange land, and bewildered;
Which road shall I follow?

My freedom has been restored; will
You now accept me as a willing
Companion, who looks at the Sun
With glazed eyes and grasps the
Fire with untrembling fingers?

I have unbound my wings and I am
Ready to ascend; will you accompany
A youth who spends his days roaming
The mountains like the lone eagle, and
Wastes his nights wandering in the
Deserts like the restless lion?

Will you content yourself with the
Affection of one who looks upon Love
As but an entertainer, and declines
To accept her as his master?

Will you accept a heart that loves,
But never yields?  And burns, but
Never melts?  Will you be at ease
With a soul that quivers before the
Tempest, but never surrenders to it?
Will you accept one as a companion
Who makes not slaves, nor will become
One?  Will you own me but not possess
Me, by taking my body and not my heart?

Then here is my hand - grasp it with
Your beautiful hand; and here is my
Body - embrace it with your loving
Arms

And here are my lips.  Bestow upon them a deep and dizzying kiss.

Then again kissing has got me in trouble, even got me fired.

ME TOO!  It was dreadful.  When I walked into the canteen/coffee shop everybody stopped talking and looked at me.  Two days later I got fired.  I was very young, like 18 and the guy I'd kissed was a Harvard grad (football scholarship).  So no regrets there, I actually kinda liked him and might have taken my flirting further.

I had a company car and my boss walked me into the parking lot to clear out my car and he drove me home.  I'd only kissed a salesman.  I realised later that he very likely told everyone I'd gone the whole way (They'll always say that, I reckon - if you kiss 'em, they want more, "dream" etc... about it and the next day they embellish the story for the sake of their ego).  Most men will say to their mates that yeah, I've had her.

I learned my lesson and never never went near anyone I worked with ever again.  :>>>& I then understood that my boss and all the other men working there were upset with me.

But on a funny/positive note:  I once landed a job by writing a valentine:  Roses are red, Violets are blue, I wanna work for you...   That fab job lasted nearly a year and he gave me a jag to drive.  I got along real well with his wife and daughters, all the management and partners - and I had fortunately already learned how to say no to the salesmen.

xLinda

rereading this, I don't want you to jump to the wrong conclusion:  I didn't kiss the boss.
I've realised later in life that I might have gotten further ahead in life (ie: more money), if I had.  But - and I repeat - I've never met a millionaire I've liked.  Nor any of my bosses.

Luckily I've only ever worked for brilliant men.  I had a temp job once (here in England), where I was paid £12 an hour mainly to bend over in a rather short skirt.  It was an ad agency.  I cycled there for 9:30am and pretty soon they all started coming in to work earlier.

I'd leave at 5 o'clock on the dot and they'd stay behind all evening, smoke dope and write shit on a roll-up big paperboard thing.  Then they'd leave in on the floor for me next morning.  I had to read each page from the floor and type it up on separate pages, print it all out and leave a copy for each of them (of what they'd done the night before), on their desks, by noon.

>This has nothing to do with great kisses, but I'm in a "how to get by in life without kissing the boss" frame of mind.

Perhaps you ought do a kissing arse thread?  I'll leave you alone there

So the girls were talking at dinner the other night... and the consensus was that while in flagrante delicto a woman can guide how quickly or slowly she would like it to go by the way she kisses.

I think we should focus more on technical aspects here.  :)

I love doing it and can do it for hours on end. One move: after a long tongue kiss, kiss her on the cheek, then her neck, then her earlobe, then take it in your mouth and gently let it slide out. Work your way back to her lips ... and continue...

I think most guys are too agressive with it. Especially about tongue action. It's more about teasing and playing with her, don't make it a "sexual" thing right away. Let it build up slowly. I've had the comment too that i can be too agressive, "Je préfère des caresses" .

Probably most women prefer "des caresses."  :)

The ear thing is very good, even the variation where the tongue goes into ear for a little.

Another good kissing hotspot, though underappreciated, is the back of the knees.  :)

Holding a woman close with your hand on her back,  the other holding her head/face and kissing her

You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

"Everybody's Welcome"

you must play this song...

Lyrics

Kiss

Prince & The Revolution

U don't have 2 be beautiful
2 turn me on
I just need your body baby
From dusk till dawn
U don't need experience
2 turn me out
U just leave it all up 2 me
I'm gonna show u what it's all about

U don't have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don't have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your

Kiss

U got to not talk dirty, baby
If u wanna impress me
U can't be 2 flirty, mama
I know how 2 undress me (Yeah)
I want 2 be your fantasy
Maybe u could be mine
U just leave it all up to me
We could have a good time

U don't have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don't have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your

Kiss

Yes
I think I wanna dance
Gotta, Gotta
Little girl Wendy's parade
Gotta, gotta, gotta

Women not girls rule my world
I said they rule my world
Act your age, mama (Not your shoe size)
Not your shoe size
Maybe we could do the twirl
U don't have 2 watch Dynasty
2 have an attitude
U just leave it all up 2 me
My love will be your food
Yeah

U don't have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don't have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your

Kiss

I prefer whispered/shouted/screamed instructions . . . I think I would be distracted if I had to be guided by kissing . . . remember guys aren't too good at multitasking.

and women really aren't either, even though I let them think they are.

Back on the knee? Maybe i should wait for that till after the first "normal" kiss.

Last week i saw a guy kissing a girl's nose. Kinda weird cause he sucked on it a bit as well.

I always liked giving neck kisses, collar bone kisses, little kisses in the ear lobe area, and the abdomin area. Never heard of or tried the back of the knees.

Yeah I know, barely anyone knows about the back of the knee thing.  It's more of a licking rather than kissing thing, but it's worth trying.  ;)

I think for those who have been with each other for a long time stop the long kissing and only peck each other when first getting home or leaving one another for the day or whatever.  It is really sad, because once that happens you have lost a lot of passion in the relationship.   :-[

I was married for 19 years. My wife and I never kissed anymore. Needless to say we are now divorced. We are best friends still though.
