Pain in the groin is common in athletes, especially football and hockey. We see tons of pro athletes with this - can be career ending. Treat it very carefully - once injured you are prone to re-injury. At the pubic symphysis there is a coalescence of the rectus abdominis, pectineus, adductor longus magnus and brevis and gracilis. these have a common attachment and once one goes the others follow. This is often percieved as a hernia (aka "sportsman's hernia") even though is is almost always not a hernia. Some athletes alternatively get stress changes at their pubic symphysis or osteoarthritis, commonly referred to as 'osteitis pubis'.

Cortisone shots are not usually very effective anyway and can weaken the fascia leading to tear. The problem occurs when you sleep - most people plantarflex their feet; this shortens the fascia and it scars in a shortened state. Then when you stand up in the morning it re-tears, setting up a daily cycle of injury. The first thing to try is keep your foot dorsiflexed at night - there is a sock that can help: http://www.thesock.com/ During the day an orthopedic boot can help to immobilize it. It is important to tell whether it is actually your arch, though. Make sure the doc you saw is sure. Posterior tibialis tendon problems can become chronic and debilitating if not treated. Early on, arch supports are the treatment. Advanced painful arch collapse is treated with tendon transfer, osteotomy or fusion.

new info...looks like 'mutilation' can be a good thing. ________________________ ___________________
Copied from MSN.com:
WASHINGTON - Circumcising men routinely across Africa could prevent millions of deaths from AIDS, World Health Organization researchers and colleagues reported Monday.
They analyzed data from trials that showed men who had been circumcised had a significantly lower risk of infection with the AIDS virus, and calculated that if all men were circumcised over the next 10 years, some two million new infections and around 300,000 deaths could be avoided.
Researchers believe circumcision helps cut infection risk because the foreskin is covered in cells the virus seems able to easily infect. The virus may also survive better in a warm, wet environment like that found beneath a foreskin.

I would definitely do it.
Not sure about the "data" RE: difference in sensation, since the foreskin retracts anyway during erection. And how would one scientifically test this anyway?
It is not done with a scalpel, but rather a little instrument that is really easy to use. I watched a bunch during med school and it takes a minute and doesn't seem too traumatic. Of course, I'd be apprehensive having it done outside of a hospital (e.g., by a moyle (sp?) - the traditional Jewish way)
I think we all agree that female 'circumcision' is criminal and I am against any medical practice solely performed for religious reasons. However, it is unfair to equate the male and female procedure. It is true that there is an increased risk of cancer, yet it's true that it is rare.
I'm glad I had it done because a lot of people think it's just gross to have a foreskin - even now when I see porn videos I think it's a bit gross when I see it.. I'd hate to set my boy up for potential failure with a woman or ridicule in the locker room based on this. Think of it like a tail. Some kids are born with tails... some might argue, this is a beautiful natural thing, that makes the child unique, and he should grow up being proud of his tail. Yet the predominantly tail-less population will inevitably make his life a little harder.. so most parents elect to have it removed.
But it partly depends on where you live. If I lived in an area where most people were not circumsized I might have a different opinion.
Leaving the choice to him later is basically waiting until he goes through a traumatic episode as a teenager and then going through the psychological trauma of having surgery to his weiner (albeit minor, but to a teen, is there any minor procedure where your johnson is concerned?)
just my 4 cents
oh, and congratulations.

Figuring out the 'puzzle' is part of the fun!! Women all have different turn-ons.. just need to take your time and sort it out...
Oral is definitely the way to go, but it has to be done right!!! Watch lesbian videos for tips.
I think guys who think they're being cheated on by a vibrator are missing the point - these can & should be used together, and if the guy won't go for it, no wonder the gal is 'seeing' the device on the side. Same with porn. If gals would only embrace it, we could all enjoy it together in a healthy way!!

Water is definitely important but since he's so young he might have a metabolic problem resulting in stone formation. His urine should be tested to see what kind of stones they are (there are different kinds) and a urologist or nephrologist should determine the cause.

It's called a 'vasovagal response'..
Either your blood vessels were all dilated from the heat and pooling resulated to too little pressure for your brain, or your parasympathetic nervous system was overloaded resulting in the same effect.
This is not dangerous by itself and will resolve if you lie down and elevate the legs. HOWEVER, often people pass out and hit their heads, etc. A colleague of mine was taking a piss after biking, passed out and got a serious head injury as he hit the ground... micturition syncope.. same thing.
Weightlifters have a larger venous blood pool and are more susceptible to this.

Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Injury and Rehabilitation / Re: Supraspinatus Tendinopathy....what next??

A few points:
Supraspinatus tendinopathy is very common and becomes more so age people age. Inpingement accelerates this process. Impingement is most commonly caused by subacromial spurs. Some people are predisposed based on the shape of their acromion.
AC osteoarthritis is not a likely source for impingement, but it can cause pain. What is your age? I see a lot of clavicular osteolysis mimicking osteoarthritis in weightlifters. The treatment for this is rest, antiinflammatory drugs and reducing the stress across the AC joint. Bench press causes significant stress to the joint, whereas incline press tends to be tolerated. However, the incline press is bad for impingers. So it's hard to say how to train until an orthopedist examines you.
Findings isolated to the anterosuperior labrum are almost always normal variation. An MR arthrogram is the best way to tell for sure.
Do you have the images? Can you post some or email them?

If that's what happened (sounds like it) it will go away by itself. Rest / ice / NSAIDS will help. But presence of a cyst usually means a problem with the inside of the knee that may cause future problems. These cysts usually recur unless the underlying problem (e.g., meniscal tear) is attended to.

Agree.. get it checked.
Heart pain (angina) usually occurs on the left side and radiates to the neck and arm. The pain with heart attack is more like a pressure, like someone standing on your chest. People get a cold sweat and feel a feeling of dread.
Pec injuries are very common in weightlifters and the location seems better for this - but you shouldn't play around.
