26  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: What's the best dog all round, ever bred? on: May 10, 2014, 10:00:24 PM

Always wanted a St Bernard for the snow cabin with that keg around his neck, but was informed that they had a very short life-span. They had a couple who used to escort the Ski Patrol in Squaw Valley a long while back.

I live across the road from a St Bernard. He'd be about 9 years old and is pretty active. Placid guy and friendly but I wouldn't say he's especially bright. And I've never seen more shit come out of a dog than that one. His owner often complains about how much food he eats and it sure as hell doesn't seem to stay inside him.
27  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: What's the best dog all round, ever bred? on: May 08, 2014, 03:31:52 AM
Rescue dogs would always be my first choice but you asked for breeds so...

our family german shepherd was a fantastic dog. Super intelligent, very protective and a beautiful beautiful animal.

but, the samoyed we had before her was something special. She was damn near human in the way she'd reason things out. The shepherd was very sharp, no doubt, but the Sammy would have run rings around her, mentally. Spooky smart. The coat was a pain in summer though.

I don't think BCAA's will do anything to hinder a fast.
29  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: How did you deal with a parent dying? on: May 05, 2014, 10:44:19 PM
Sorry mate - it's a shitty sad situation.

When my father died, what helped me most was the thought that we are all supposed to die. His turn came a little too quickly, but it was always going to happen, like it will for us all. That perspective helped me a lot to let him go.

I was there at the very end holding his hand. It's was horrible but beautiful as well. I'm very grateful I was able to be there when he passed. You may feel differently, but that helped me a lot to move on afterward.

All the best mate.
30  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The Top 10 Greatest Superhero Capes of All Time! on: May 03, 2014, 12:53:02 AM
They have fought numerous times. I believe Superman has the edge, but truly, it's because he's Superman and DC's flagship super hero can't go down regularly... even against Captain Marvel (Who has been actually renamed to "Shazam" in the New 52).

I PERSONALLY believe that since Captain Marvel's powers come from magic, he would kick Supes ass, but that's just my opinion.

I PERSONALLY agree with you 100%. Captain Marvel is a victim of his poor writing. He is everything Supes is plus more.

If you can stop taking whatever it is you're taking, and have everything else continue on as per usual - no change in mood, no change in behaviours - and stay this way - then you're not an addict.
33  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The Top 10 Greatest Superhero Capes of All Time! on: April 29, 2014, 12:36:19 AM
Captain Marvel my ass.

34  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The Top 10 Greatest Superhero Capes of All Time! on: April 28, 2014, 01:23:57 PM
Moon Knight really deserves to be in the top 10 for this list IMHO, but I have to say mate, you're knocking it out of the park with these write ups.

And I love Captain Marvel. His cape is exactly what a young boy would imagine when he thinks of himself as a superhero!
35  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: For those who do cardio, what is your approach? on: April 28, 2014, 01:19:04 PM
I don't do a lot right now, but when I did, I always had the best fat loss results with a 'calories out' attitude. The more you burn, the more fat you lose.

The people walking were never as lean as the people running.
36  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Captain America, the Greatest Hero Ever? on: April 26, 2014, 12:07:50 PM
Nice write up mate. It's hard to argue against anything you say here, although I do think Spidey is just as 'great' in heroic terms as Cap.

And Superman isn't DC's most powerful hero. That'd be Captain Marvel  Grin
37  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Woman kills herself in car accident posting to Facebook. on: April 26, 2014, 07:33:17 AM
Stupid fucking bitch. What is it with people who think they can give their full attention to the task of driving a car, but fuck around with their phones at the same time? I see it all the time - especially young women.  That idiot girl in Australia from last week who hit the cyclist is another example.

Here in Germany the police will check your phone records if you're in an accident to see if you were driving and texting at the same time.

Fuck anyone who doesn't drive with full concentration. It only takes a second to kill someone when you drive a car.
38  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Is This Physique Fixable? on: April 25, 2014, 07:32:25 AM
A bit harsh IMO.

He's done the best with what he was given. Got fairly well cut and had the balls to walk out on stage.

It depends. If he genuinely knew he looked bad and went onstage anyway, then, yes, guess you could say he had the balls to do that.

If went onstage thinking he was fantastic, then that's not having balls.
39  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Food Poisoning sucks! on: April 22, 2014, 11:38:45 PM
Why would you buy salad in a bag anyway? Why not just make it fresh yourself?

Commiserations though mate - food poisoning is fucking awful. Had it 3 times - it's always been because of a bad egg.

Autism by way of technology. No common sense at all.

Brilliant. Can I use this?

Jelena Jankovic is known as a bit of a princess on tour. No doubt she knew exactly what she was doing and the reaction she would have received. It's quite normal for women players to leave the court for a clothing change.
42  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: what city has the hottest women you have ever seen? on: April 15, 2014, 10:56:23 AM
I've been damn near everywhere in my time in the military except asia:  here's my take...

1)  Paris, France-  Oh, my Lord just visit one day, almost ALL the girls are just perfect!!! Thin waists & Hourglass hips!!
2)  Stuttgart, Germany-  PARADISE for guys who like girls from South Germany who have Black hair!!!
3)  Vienna, Austria-  What can be said unless you've been there??  Beauty upon beauty!!
4)  Montreal, Canada-  The girls there are SO delicious we used to travel 2 hours there & back on weekend leave!! =)
5)  Washington, D.C./Arlington, VA-  Very HUMID city, like walking in a hot bowl of soup- the white dresses girls wear CLING to their bodies and you can see their lingerie underneath!!!

I live an hour outside Stuttgart. Gotta disagree with you brother. Some nice ones for sure, but you're not swimming in them like you do in Scandinavia.

Paris - yes - would agree. The Parisian girl attitude goes a looong way. I had a chick sit on the train and stare at my crotch for 15 minutes, look up and smile as she was getting off and invite me for coffee.

Vienna - yep. Hot. Very very hot women in Vienna. Much better than Stuttgart - you get that mix of Czech and Balkan blood there as well.

44  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: what city has the hottest women you have ever seen? on: April 14, 2014, 11:52:36 PM
For sheer volume Oslo is the city with the hottest women I've ever seen. They've killed all the ugly ones at birth.

Manhattan is also crazy. Lots more variety than Norway too. I had whiplash before I even walked out of the airport.

Scandinavians are too nice. This is opening a door that is going to be very hard to close again.
46  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Youth is wasted on the young on: April 13, 2014, 10:30:34 AM
I would have learnt a couple of languages properly when my mind was still flexible enough to do it easily.

Would have been far less picky with the women I slept with. I turned down a few really sweet pretty girls when I was younger and I kind of regret that.

I had the chance to study shootwrestling in Japan in the early 90's. I let myself get talked out of it and I put myself through naturopathic college instead (which I don't regret - just would have liked to have spent some time doing nothing but martial arts).

I was never a party person and for the most part I'm pretty content with the choices I made back then.

Oh - I never really appreciated how much I could put my body through and have it recover so quickly. I've just walked off a tennis court after 2 hours and going to the gym tomorrow will be tough. I would never have even considered that a big deal when i was in my early 20's and I'd probably be more appreciative of my recuperative ability if I could talk to my 20 year old self.

yep - I would have been that day.

Minotauro has nothing left to prove - he should have stopped a while back.

Even Cro Cop's left leg couldn't do what Nelson did (granted - it's an older Nog).

BMX'ing when i was 14 , coming off a jump and landing on my crossbar. I was too stunned to even shit my pants.
50  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The state of internet overload leading to ADHD. on: April 11, 2014, 05:26:28 AM
I've been thinking about this a lot recently and about my perception that the next generation have major problems staying focussed on something (although they would probably criticise me for being unable to "multi-task" like they can).

When you allow yourself to be reachable 24 hours a day, when you have no need to wait for information to arrive at your fingertips, when you can document your life and share it immediately with others, and respond immediately to what is happening in someone else's life - and you expect all this....what is one logical end result?

Attention and behaviour problems.

Like I said in a previous post, we're becoming beings that document everything but pay attention to nothing. I don't personally see how any good can come from being 'switched on' or connected 24 hours a day, every day. I would be interested to know how many teens could go a week without any social media at all.

It may just be a natural process of change, but it to my middle aged mind, it doesn't feel especially healthy.
