because Norway has some of the most stuck up bitches ever. And I hate them.
I found this to be true. The girls I met in Norway were insanely hot but a bit distant. I didn't know if they were stuck up or just unsure about their English. It was after I started telling them that Swedish girls were much friendlier that they began throwing me in bed for some of the most incredible sport fucking I've ever experienced. Worked like a charm. I had a deliriously happy time in Norway thanks to Swedish chicks! Then I went to Sweden and found that the Swedish chicks really were much friendlier than their Norwegian sisters.

exactly the same as cephissus.
Breakfast used to be the one meal I thought I'd die without, but I've not only survived missing it, i don't really miss it at all. Hasn't affected my workouts in the least and I'm leaner than before.
I was always an advocate of fasting, but more in the direction of one week without food every few months, or a day without food every week, instead of foregoing a meal every day.

you're an asian in Germany right? so what's it like there for you? do you have to deal with much racism?
I'm Eurasian. My dad was half Japanese half Chinese, my mother is first generation Kiwi with Celtic-French parents. Doesn't mean shit here though. Apart from the fact that I'm 6' tall, I'm as asian as can be to the locals. I have met some terrific people here, but yes, racism is at a 1950's level and I've been on the receiving end of it quite often. I live in a fairly small place though - the cities may be different. In the last month I've... ...walked into a cafe and had people exclaim loudly that it suddenly stinks of soy sauce (heard this a few times before). ...gone to the butchers and been told 'I don't sell dogmeat' ...gone to a hairdresser and had some guy say 'Hey - we didn't order any Chinese takeaway'. Of course, to the Germans, this is hysterically funny and everyone else who's present bursts out laughing. I don't help much. Once the butcher was finished trying to be funny I told him it was fine - I was after cat meat that day anyway. Of course, THAT'S not anything to laugh at. If you mention the war, or the Holocaust, that's a catastrophe. I once overheard a couple commenting on my wife and wondering what her problem was that she couldn't find a German guy and had to bring an Asian into the country and that our kids would ruin their society. I turned to them and said 'Yes - this is the country that made the jewish people feel so welcome isn't it' and i very nearly had to contend with the police coming. Racism is here. I was hoping to move to Thailand later this year but that fell through so I'm here for a little while longer. Many Germans would be horrified to hear some of the things I hear - and they're the ones I try and spend my time with, but yes, racism is not unusual. It's a xenophobic country - as a rule, they don't like anything too different here.

Thanks mate. Yes- the breathability of the room is also worrying me. With a group of people all playing away, humidity will be an issue.
I'm going to ask as many professionals as I can. The few I've spoken to thus far have either tried to sell their product, or seen it as a challenge, but like you say, if the challenge defeats them, I'm left with an expensive and unuseable space.
I appreciate your replying - muchos danke!

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah - mass would be no issue with some of the older houses, but I'd want to renovate the whole house as well as just a training/teaching space. I spoke with a guy last week who renovated (is still renovating) his 300 year old house. Beautiful job so far but the amount of extra money he's had to lay out just due to unforseen stuff that old houses hide....there's just no way of knowing.
I've seen insulation offerings involving an inner and outer wooden wall (about 10 inches apart) with a filling of small pebbles. It's used mainly as temperature insulation due to it's thermal mass, but the builder was saying it was also an excellent acoustic insulator.
I've also seen the same sandwich type arrangement, but the space between the 2 wooden walls was filled with another zigzag wooden wall in the middle (a 3rd wall in the middle, but not straight), and the spaces between each angle filled with a hemp type of material.
I was shown some cellulose insulation yesterday which did a good job of dampening a high frequency noise, but taiko is a lot of low deep frequencies which the guy couldn't tell me about.
I wish I had a way to directly compare some of these spaces. Do any of the ones I mentioned sound like anything you've had experience with?

I teach Japanese taiko drumming for a living. I usually teach in groups of 7-9 drummers. I'm thinking of buying or building a house with an attached dojo space (about 50-60sq meters). In my part of Germany there are lots of old houses with barns that I could convert, but from what I've heard, there can be lots of hidden costs in renovating a 200+ year old building. A new house would have pretty much most of the costs visible and up front.
My options are a room within a room situation with an older house/barn or stable, or a separate newly built space. Going underground with a cellar room is too expensive.
Has anyone got any experience with sound dampening? Right now it's more important to stop sound getting out of the room and reaching any neighbours, than it is to keep it down inside the room. We all wear earplug during practice anyway.
If anyone out there has any experience, I wouldn't mind running some of the building options I've seen past you.
Thanks in advance.

The thing is, I'm usually pretty tolerant. I know that kids will generally be noisy,or at least, boisterous.
That last flight though was terrible, and I couldn't get over the fact that so many parents just didn't seem to care. What I can't understand is my friend's reaction to what I said. I didn't think it was so terrible (and it wasn't aimed at her). If we used to have smoking and non smoking sections, why was I so out of line proposing a parent/non parent division in an airplane?

I would like some input on this.
I have no kids. I am more than happy with no kids. I don't have anything against kids - my godson is the coolest little dude on the planet - but I never felt any need or desire to have my own. Good for you if you have them.
And I understand raising kids is not always easy and that as parents, you can get tired and overwhelmed.
I don't understand why parents bring their small kids to cafes and restaurants and other public places and let them run wild, without lifting a finger to control them. That pisses me off.
Anyway - a friend and I were speaking yesterday. She has 3 kids under the age of 5, and she isn't a completely neglectful mother, but she is very 'laid back' and one of these people who seem to not notice her children wreaking havoc in public.
I made the comment yesterday that there should be a "parent class' on long distance flights - where all the parents with young children can sit together. My last flight from Germany back to Oz was a fucking nightmare journey with screaming toddlers and disinterested parents. One mother directly behind me had her headphones on her head and was totally engrossed in her tv screen - while he toddler made life hell for everyone around her. For 20 hours. Other kids were running the aisles. Parents were ignoring the flight attendants' pleas to control their children. It was the worst flight I've ever been on.
I thought my idea had some merit. My friend on the other hand, lost her mind completely and told me that I wasn't fit to be part of society if I had such thoughts.
Was what I said such a bad thing?

galeniko - you're originally from former Yugoslavia region right?
The people I know in Switzerland all have pretty negative attitudes to people from the Balkans. Have you ever noticed this yourself in the way they behave toward you? My impression is that Swiss are generally more polite than Germans, who have no problem being a girl directly to you your face.
Switzerland has better chocolate than Australia - that's not contestible.

I left Australia almost 5 years ago and now live about 40 mins from Switzerland
Both places have strong economies. I can't speak for Switzerland, but property in Australia has gone from not that cheap to horrendous in the past few years. Even finding a decent rental in the Eastern capitals can be tough.
When I was back home last christmas (2011/2012), I was surprised at how expensive things had become. I guess you don't notice much when you're living day to day, but after a few years away I was a little shocked. Breakfast or lunch at a cafe, for example, I used to enjoy quite regularly when I lived there, but I wouldn't be able to afford it anymore - not with the same regularity as I used to. Going to the cinema was also a shock. Trying to find a bookstore in Melbourne, and then actually buying a couple of things and getting no change from $100 - things like that hit home when you haven't been part of the changes.
If you can get work in the mines or somewhere miles away in the bush you can save a bundle. An old school friend went and studied to be a surveyor, lived in a place called Roma for 5 years (arse end of nowhere mining town) and paid for his house outright when he got back to Brisbane.
I'm not sure what you'd need to do to earn big in Switzerland.

Also some believe there's a connection between flu shots and Alzheimers and other mental illnesses. There's a certain bloodline who isn't lining up for flu shots and who aren't getting vaccinated at their local hospital.

so the OZ life isnt that good anymore,is it better in germany?? i didnt understand you,you said your friend said hes either to continue to pay the mortgage or have another child??? wouldnt the sentence be better if you said that you freind said its either to dont pay the mortgage and have a child or pay a mortgage without having abother child
My friend said she and her husband combined have enough income to either continue to pay the mortgage where they live and not have another child, or sell the house, move further away from where they work and buy a cheaper house and then be able to afford to raise another child. i wasn't very clear in my first sentence. Is German life better than in Oz? Depends what you measure. I live in a pretty affluent part of Germany, and I used to live in a suburb called Armadale in Melbourne - also affluent. People where I live now have a lot more free time than anyone I know at home now, and they earn more. They have more holidays per year (6 weeks) than in Oz. They have to pay a lot more in tax and various compulsory insurances. Aussies have a happier outlook on life and can do a lot more outdoorsy stuff - the weather is a hell of a lot better. One of the guys at my gym has a brother who lives in Perth. He said, according to his brother, Australians work a lot harder than Germans and have less money, but enjoy life a lot more. I tend to agree.

I never saw it.
I really thought I would have been able to tell, but it was only after the fact that I was able to connect all the dots.
The guy was a good friend of mine who had a drug problem I didn't know about. He left Australia and went back to Scotland leaving a mountain of debt, a wife, a baby son and lots of very confused friends.
He was a highly paid executive and the only thing I ever wondered about, was why he was driving a Toyota Corolla (which he did upgrade) and why was he renting a house, but I figured it was none of my business to ask. His housing concerns were his business not mine.
All the other weirdness he did to hide his tracks I just accepted blindly because he was a friend.
That was about 12 years ago and I'm still surprised he fooled so many people so close to him but I guess when you want to believe someone you will.
