51  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Greatest Q & A ever. Teenage Miss America on: August 28, 2007, 09:09:37 PM
Exactly what did she say wrong in this clip on the today show.  do you know what special effects are for movies.  just wondering, an by the way who cares what she says.  she is hot as hell and could be a mute for all i care

not wrong, just funny - her answer was something along the lines of, "I was shocked when I heard the questions because all my friends and I have maps."

Yeah I know what special effects are for movies, the glitter joke was that I doubt she does. Its funny to hear her say she thinks she'll move out to LA and be doing effects for the sequel to 'The 300'. I know one person of about 20 who moved to/live in LA who has had any degree of success - and that's because he's smart as hell and understood he had to pay his dues the first 5+ years out of film school. I doubt Miss America here could find the right airline terminal trying to leave from SC....

Hmmm, her second answer on the Today show wasn't that great either -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQKNvPn3V-8

Gotta love the "I'm going to LA to do special effects for movies and TV" answer for future plans.

FYI Miss S. Carolina - Lots and lots of glitter isn't a "special effect."

I don't want to be a dick here, but you are so far off it isn't funny.
1. Orthopedic docs are not often DOs. Orthopedic surgery is one of the most competitive medical specialties out there. You have to be near the very top of your class to be an orthopedic surgeon these days. 99.9% of DOs could never make it into an MD orthopedic surgery residency program. That there exist any DOs in orthopedic surgery at all is due largely to the fact that they have their own special DO residency programs.
2. Nobody in med school is bitter about not being a chiropractor. Anyone in medical school right now could easily, easily have made it into chiropractory school. Also, the average salary of chiropractors is nowhere near the average salary of real doctors. The average salary for a chiropractor is 80-90k, while that of an MD is around 200k (with the average for specialists being considerably higher). And, look, I'm not trying to be a homer here, by the way. If you had said dentist, then I think there probably are a certain fraction of doctors, particularly those not in the high-paying specialties, who probably regret choosing medicine over dentistry. But trust me, none of us envy chiropractors.
3. Regarding your point about surgeons and trachs, technically once you are a physician, you can legally do any procedure you want. You don't have to be board-certified in dermatology, for example, to inject botox. Board certification just makes it easier to get a job in a particular field. But you can theoretically work as any kind of doctor you want, even if you didn't complete a residency in that field. (but good luck getting insurance companies to pay you).

Agreed. Good post.

Many of the chiro's in the metro area I live in have to supplement their income with things like massage therapy or personal training on the side. Although I have been to one chiro who was ok, from now on I'll save my money for a massage and a trip to an Ortho doc any day.
54  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Have you guys ever injured serratus? on: August 17, 2007, 09:11:39 AM
3 days before i did with a strange machine. And It hurts a lot yesterday and today.
And I had to skip my back workout. Angry Angry
It has occured with the pull over with very lightweight before also.

If you guys share your information about the experience of injury of your serratus,i am appriciated.

I've screwed up several minor muscles in my upper back, traps before, including serratus. The biggest thing thats helped overall is training those minor muscle with some rehab exercises and doing rotator cuff work along with shoulder days - I regularly do things like shoulder dislocates, cuban presses, external rotations, sub scap pulldowns, etc. As a side effect too, lifts like incline press and military have increased increased like crazy.

I can't re-explain all the neuro/phys ends and outs as it was explained to me, but bottom line is you more than likely have another weakness/imbalance in a muscle other than the serratus. You're only as strong as your weakest link and all that...

...on the other hand, you may have just pulled your serratus so what the hell do I know?  Cheesy

I wouldn't be concerned with the amount of caffeine in green tea ~ it's SIGNIFICANTLY less than coffee.

Agreed, there's a caffeine content website out there that I can't find at the moment, but I seem to remember the caffeine content per cup being around 10-12 mgs, not bad at all. Even a gallon of it would be similar to 1-2 cups of coffee (@).
56  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Anti Estrogen Questions on: August 12, 2007, 08:20:10 PM
Topical wont do crap, less it has a carrior w/ a molecular weight that willl allow to penetrate skin.
Liver values are transient, ignore them for 2 weeks if your healthy, and they return to normal, even on heavy anapolon/ Dbol cycles of 8 weeks. Liver dammage is way overstated.

For OTC supplements, that problem was solved several years ago by Ergopharm/Patrick Arnold. Most transdermals now are mixed with a base that does allow the ingredient to penetrate the skin as long as the solution in the correct concentration, etc.

Liver values can be transient, but compound the type of stress it experiences from BB "activities" for many many years and next thing you know you have a liver thats starting to fail.

I'd still go with the Gaspari novadex personally, number one because I wouldn't need anything stronger, but also besides being illegal, nolva has shown to cause additional stress on the liver, the last thing you want when trying to recover post-cycle.

Overall, use AI's to get yourself back to normal levels as quickly as possible, but don't stay on them forever, estrogen is actually good for cholesterol levels, joints, libido.
57  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Good Article on probiotics benfits - protein digestion/utilization on: August 12, 2007, 08:08:59 PM
I take two with each whole food meal, and one with each shake. (2 shakes a day usually, 3 whole food meals a day)

http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=VS-1194

Its primarily a beatine, amylase, protease, pepsin mix.

Just a side note too, I've had problems with heartburn for several years, and routinely take nexium for it. Since starting the enzymes on a regular basis I've noticed less heartburn on days I go without the RX...

Call these guys, they'll know -
59  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Good Article on probiotics benfits - protein digestion/utilization on: August 09, 2007, 08:49:24 PM
http://www.mindandmuscle.net/articles/colby_vorland/probiotics

Good article. Explains why some people have problems digesting even simple things like a scoop or two of protein.  I use a multi-enzyme from vitamin shoppe that's around $6 a bottle and worth 100 times that.

If you drink a lot of shakes, its good to take digestive enzymes at the same time too. You're body will not respond to digest and use the protein from a shake the same way it does from whole food. Yes you have the benefit of a liquid meal, but bloating and GI distress from shakes is common in people who otherwise have no digestive problems. Using digestive enzymes will mimick the same process your body completes when releasing enzymes to break down a whole food meal...

Is it Luperon Depot? (Formastane) A womens breast cancer drug? IT ROCKS IF YOU EVER GET HANDS ON IT.
ESP GOOD PCT.

It'll Have you HARD in every way before day 3! Grin

Topical Formestane is the best otc anti-E out there. Works the same way as the above I would imagine.

Epistane/Havoc is a methylated version of Epistanol, there were some claimed anti-e properties as well as minimal side effects from this but I have seen some blood work from people taking this that showed it was a lot harsher than originally thought.
61  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: who else here uses vitargo/waxymaize? on: August 09, 2007, 08:27:30 PM
As far as digestibility/absorption goes, I agree that other macronutrients/protein will slow the absorption. I have used the unflavored WMS mixed with chocolate protein and it was about the same as drinking an MRP, not ideal for pre/during workout.

Currently I have IDS Waximaize and it tastes all right - I mix it with creatine and BCAA's and drink 40gms before and 40gms after. I also picked up the original Vitargo CGL since Vitamin shoppe was closing these out and selling them cheap.

IMO the original vitargo cgl is much better than the other two I've tried - I don't know if it makes a difference but the consistency is different and more of a gelatin than the others. I remember there were some arguements on the board saying vitargo used a "superior" waxy maize and I never bought into it at the time, but I after trying 3 different brands I think there is something to it.
62  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Aspirin and Ibopurefen affect growth? on: July 19, 2007, 12:16:31 PM
Aspirin is good prior to a workout as it thins the blood and allows it to travel into the muscles easier creating a better pump - it also alleviates pain during hard training to failure sessions and can actually improve a workout by a few extra reps.
Never heard of using ibuprofen though - although common sense would say that as a painkiller it would have a similar effect to aspirin for pain tolerance.

They're both NSAIDs and would have the same effect on the signals that cause muscle growth. Aspirin prevents platelets in the blood from sticking together, you're blood flows more easily as a result, ibuprofen doesn't have as much of an effect on platelets but can thin the blood slightly, moreso because of its anti-inflammatory effect.
63  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Revolutionary theorie on high calories and losing fat on: July 19, 2007, 11:56:24 AM
doesnt it take over 12 hours to digest food (average)  ?

Complete energy turnover takes around 10 hours for a sedentary person, IOW: food in + 10hours = all calories used for energy (burned)/stored as fat/crapped out. That's why fatties at work can't figure out why they're still fat if they ate a salad for lunch every day, but a 1500 calorie dinner at a restaurant. You don't burn it off in 4-5 hours when you're "hungy" again.

Massive eating will cause a short term spike in fat burning hormones like Leptin and T3, but as a natural you won't be able to keep up 7000 a day without accumulating a lot of fat after a week or so, regardless if you stop eating at night. DW would be even bigger/leaner if he alternated this strategy for 2 weeks with a pretty severe diet for 2 weeks @.
64  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Aspirin and Ibopurefen affect growth? on: July 19, 2007, 11:40:42 AM
Damn, I guess I have to take the A out of the ECA stack. It's actually been working very well for me.

250Ben250 that's is one crazy avatar. Is there a version on Youtube I can see in full size. Grin

I wouldnt worry about the A in the ECA, you're probably taking a baby aspirin/low dose as it is (@ 80mg). Its when you're popping 2-3+ a day around your workout that would probably cause some negative effects.

I haven't seen a you tube version, I got the gif off another site. Some dumbass mom wasn't watching her kid and she wandered out onto the dance floor during the chinaman's routine. I can't take credit for the "Finish Her!!!" and "Babality" either, some other creative soul had the Mortal Kombat insight.  Grin
65  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Aspirin and Ibopurefen affect growth? on: July 19, 2007, 10:37:49 AM
Yes, recently there have been a couple studies on short term effects on muscle growth with the assumption being that chronic use of NSAIDs would be worse.

The condensed version, is that one of the biggest triggers for muscle growth occurs as a response to inflammation. If you inhibit the inflammation with Advil or aspirin you stop the process that could otherwise result in new muscle tissue down the road.

hell no, i drink a couple of tbsp of Universal's EAA's, a tsp of creatine and some grape juice.

But aren't you afraid that's not going to work because Universal's EAA's aren't "special".
68  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS USING THE "MILOS DRINK" on: July 18, 2007, 08:23:46 PM
are any of you guys sweating a lot more during workouts drinking this thing? i usually sweat a lot but i've been sweating twice as much drinking this thing, my t shirt was drenched when i got done today.

Did you buy the real thing?? All $5902098000 worth?
69  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Dante aka Doggcrap: Destroyed re Castleberry! on: July 18, 2007, 11:07:15 AM

First video -
1) Obviously juiced
2) They only show him doing one (fairly hard) rep with 315???  Roll Eyes I'll bet he would struggle with 365, he'd be hard pressed to do anything over 405 without a shirt. I will say the plates sound real for all 3 lifts, but why 2 different types of plates? There's plenty of the rubber/octaganol plates. Call me OCD but I like to line those bitches up, its mental, but it throws me off using 2 different plates or not having the rubber ones lined up together on the bar.

2nd video -
1) "Pretty much done this all naturally, pretty much."  Notice the monster avoiding eye contact with the camera.
2) "hamburgers, burritos, Taco Bell"  Roll Eyes

Bottom line, there's so many obvious tell-tale signs here that he's lying through his teeth.

70  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Does Quincy Taylor REALLY compete at 320 pounds? on: July 18, 2007, 09:46:53 AM
Photos from the Colorado State Guest Posing. He looks ok from the front but his glutes/hams/back conditioning look more than 4 weeks out. Either way Shrek Taylor is a monster.

In these pics he does look well over 320 but I would bet money he hasn't actually stepped on stage at 300+ yet. I saw him at the gym this time last year before the Europa and it would be a stretch to say he was 300lbs then around 3-4 weeks out. Unless he's put on 15-20 lbs of muscle this year then I think he'll be right around 300.

Think about top pros like Jay, Ronnie, or Yates. Conditioning being equal, their reported Mr. O weight only increases by 5-10lbs each year, and even then its stretched a couple lbs for the magazines/fans. An amateur might be able to make those kind of big gains between their first few contests but Quincy's been at this for quite awhile..
71  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: MAKE UR OWN MILOS DRINK! ADD YOUR RECIPE! on: July 11, 2007, 11:41:44 AM
Even though those AST "articles" were usually just ads for their supplements, the supplement strategy there is pretty sound. I'd still like to see why Milos thinks his product is that much better that buying the individual supplements and making your own. Convenience doesn't add that much of a premium...
72  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: MAKE UR OWN MILOS DRINK! ADD YOUR RECIPE! on: July 10, 2007, 12:59:12 PM
I hope people really don't spend $200+ for 15 workout days of this combo  Cry

I will be ordering the below for a total of @ $69 plus shipping and using it according to Milos's instruction. Even with EAA being the limiting factor, this will last a minimum of 20 days. With a 5-day training week, this would be a months supply. When its time to re-order, the EAA will be the only thing necessary for $27............that's a total of @ $100 give or take for 2 months worth of workouts!!!....the Milos equivalent would cost @ $533

74  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Poll about GH15 Just Out of Curiosity!!!!! on: July 04, 2007, 08:30:56 AM
I believe there's a least a few people out there taking something like this. Its more of a personality/addiction issue than anything else. You ever read through some of the threads on BB.com? There's guys there that love nothing more than to post threads like "How many pills do you take a day?!?" or "Post a picture of your supplement stash!" showing pantry fulls of pills, powders, etc. I think the same thing translates over to steroids too, its not unlikely that you have the same type of guy getting his jollies when he can open a door to a cabinent full of syringes, vials, and blister packs....
75  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Milos Shakes! on: July 03, 2007, 09:17:04 AM
FWIW - you guys should really look at Trueprotein's site, again if you haven't already. Put together your own blend of waxy maize + BCAA's or add in extra EAA or Leucine, reasonably priced too.
