Yes, statistically you're very unlikely to die because of guns but it's a mind fuck and it's a double mind fuck when kids are killed. Pollution kills tons of people (cancer and other diseases) but it lacks the dramatic effect. That's how human mind  works. You can't reason with the general population.

Having said that taking someone's life with an object is barbaric and should be stopped for that reason alone.

Year 2008 is an extreme example between U.S.A. and Japan. In U.S.A. 12,000+ people were killed by guns. In Japan 11 (yes eleven). Of course normally it's a bit higher in Japan but it still shows the drastic difference between two opposite gun policies.

Yeah, I agree. I've seen that. The son clearly has way more understanding of the outside world than the expressionless 13 year girl who's mental age is of a 3 month old baby. Would a 3 month old baby enjoy that? You could get criminally charged if you did that with a 3 month old baby. Calm down. First of all the picture caption says he does marathons. Full length marathon would absolutely be torture to a kid because it would take at least 15-20 hours with the extra weight. So I googled this. Turns out the guy does 1/8 marathons with her. Ok, that's much better - but no one knows if the kid really enjoys it, she has a metal capacity of a 3 month old and she does not talk.

If she enjoys it - great - if not, too bad the dad needs an event and people cheering to spent "quality time" with his daughter.
