I don't think that Gustavo is cocky at all.  These guys train to win, not to come in second.  As for challenging Ronnie, that adds some excitement to the Mr. Olympia.  Why would that not be right?  If you look at the pics posted (even the one you posted) you can see that he is not overrated.  How can he be overrated when he beat Ronnie in the challenge round voted on by previous Mr. Olympia's?  Makes no sense.

He was one of my favorites too.  He had a lot of genetic talent.  I wish he would have stayed around a bit longer.
