BSN is selling a ton of product and hey props to them for seeing the value in a well done commercial vs. BUY ME NOW infomercials. LIFT
True, but "value" is only achieved if in the long run, when the cost of producing and running that commercial is absorbed by the increase in sales and more than $1 arrives as profit as a result of this action. Aside from being the nicest commercial shown during WSM competitions, I don't know if BSN is going to see a return on investment. It might be fun to brag to VYOtech that their commercial is better. But there's a reason supplement companies don't broadcast on major tv markets- it's not cost-feasible and it's not sustainable. That marketing budget should be shifted to areas with a better ROI, IMO. I can understand BSN's excitement about being the first to nail a top-notch commercial. I just see it as living beyond the means afforded by their assets. Also, 240->300->sitejaws. That's evolution. I've only been in business two or three months now. Still finding myself!

Last time I checked most pros can only peek a couple of times a year. If this organization with a prize fund of 30 thousand dollars tries to compete against the Olympia with it's prize money, what top 10 bb would not compete in the Olympia? and the Schwarzeneger Classic?
I can easily see those Tier 2 guys who don't usually qualify for the O doing shows like these.

They took a shotgun to a rifle match.
Marketing 101, you don't mass market unless everyone out there is a prospective buyer. You're not super walmart, you're super selective.
Far wiser to spend $10 per getbig user on advertising, than 10 cents per Average American.
I suppose next they'll spend their entire ad budget for the next decade on an artsy super bowl commercial?

Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ronnie Coleman to retire at 2006 Mr. Olympia

Here's an interesting thought for the day.
Ronnie Coleman may be calling it quits. A few points:
Recent pics show Ronnie TORE A TRICEP in December. Not many athletes can come back inside a year from an injury like this, much less a 40+ year old man on top of the sport.
Ronnie will be what, 43 years old for next year's Olympia? Dickerson barely won it at age 44 in a far less competitive era.
Ronnie has nothing more to prove in the sport- 8 straight Olympias makes him #1.
Ronnie has used higher levels of GH/IGF/Insulin than any previous Mr O champion. His head is clearly showing a growing skull plate on the front left side.
From recent pics, Ronnie has not touched a weight, has not eaten much, and has not used anything more than maintenance HRT for the last 4 months.
Ronnie lost his LOCK upon the Olympia the minute the judges awarded Gustavo the challenge round at the 05 Olympia. Gustavo is clearly waiting to be next.
Ronnie did an additional DVD, The Road to the Olympia, AFTER the Olympia. He's never done this. And he did it in Australia, alienating his American video contracts.
Ron is guest posing and doing signings like never before. Every week. This WOULD be a good time to keep the retirement secret and earn a lot of money.
Dorian waited until the Arnold Classic following his last Olympia win to announce his retirement. So did Haney. Will Coleman?
The magazines are covering Gustavo like he's the next champ. Marketing students would say these resources are going in Gustavo's direction for a reason...
Perhaps Ronnie Coleman did the math after tearing a tricep and winning #8 and realized it's time to hang it up and retire a champion. I know it's popular opinion to say that Ronnie will be king forever, but we all may want to step back and look at the facts and consider we may have seen the man onstage for the last time.

Red Fed has a great personality in interviews and seems like more of a writer than a meathead. I do, think the Rus Grand Prix was obviously fixed to get him into the O the next year- FLEX wanted that matchup pretty bad. What else was there, another classic matchup between Jay and Ronnie?
Also I don't think we'll ever see Alex on the O stage again, unless through special invite.
