2  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: arms need help on: May 18, 2007, 03:48:44 PM
hi
i also have this problem. i have tried everyting for my arms. now my tri's are growing fine but my bi's are still small and look way outa proportion. ive used heavey, light, super-set, drop-set,pyramid, trainin partner for every set + exercise, and done just about every exercise i can think of. i think cause i dont have a partner i find it harder to motivate myself to keep goin. im gona try out wats been posted here and see how it goes. one thing though - wen ever i did barbell curls with heavey weight and 4-8 reps i got a pain in my forearm extensors. so i stopped and do heavey dumbbells which is diferent cause it dont really hurt forearms at all. strange. anyone any thoughts?

i started lifting weights when i was 13. i was in the same bedroom with my bro and he lifted weights so i gave them a try. i only did 30 reps per excercise only did 5 excercies. did that on and off till i was about 15 then i joined a gym that my bro was in. in the gym there were alot of foreigners (romanians, polish, croations) and these guys were all huge so it got me more into bodybuilding. i got the new encyclopedia of bb by arnold and the pics of the bb's in it motivated me to keep doin more and more. i got to love lifting weights around the other huge guys in my gym cause they gave me loads of motivation. i love trying to go heavier everytime i come into the gym even if its only 1.25kg it makes me feel way better.

after a year in that gym i moved to larger one that had more equipment etc. i like it but i still prefer the people in my old gym. i trained about 4 or 5 times a week and began to eat alot. my training became regular and so when i met TheLuke he gave me a programme that was excelent. .my peak time was when i was 17 last year. in about 2 months i gained 8-10 kg's and my max bench was 120kg, squat 120kg and deadlift 120kg and weighed 75kg's at 5 foot 9,(i know thats pretty wierd all 120kg). but i had surgery on my toe and it all stopped. spent 2 months sitting around eating chocolate and getin fat. now its nearly healed im startin back runnin and fitness to build it up for my future job in army. so once im in i will get back into lifting again.

its been brilliant that i am natural and have done so well (i think i have) and i have had people asking me am i takin juice. i'd like to finish with this

Lifting is something i do for me, its al down to me to make progress, and i love pushing myself, and trying to push myself further and harder every session.

i completely agree davie.

thanks.

ok imagine a standing barbell shoulder press.
now press it up just enough to clear the top of your head
now lower it down to base of nect.
press it up just enough to clear your head
then down to the clavicles again.

that is it. you use a wider than shoulder grip for it.

a rep is completed every time u reach top of head. one rep is not front and back. does this make sense

i do this myself when im doin shoulders. i much prefer it to pressing the bar to a lock out. more intence this way. is this best way to be done?

been doin running a bit now but theres a problem. i keep getting the cramp or a stich just underneath the lower part of my ribcage on right hand side, sometimes the cramp is underneath the ribcage and sometimes its not i think then it might be part of my lats, i strech it but it dont work.. i try to fight past it as suggested but it becomes overwhelming and i cannot breathe properly so i must stop. any suggestions on the problem.

P.S. my test is for the military.

my test will be done outside so i will be trainin outside in the park. i can jog round the park and use the pitches to sprint and there are steps going down to the lake so i could sprint up them several times. this good? also i often get a stitch jus under the lower part of the ribcage. a fitness trainer said it was to do wit my breathin. any1 know anything about this?

11  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: upright rows with E-Z or olympic bar? on: April 11, 2007, 02:26:11 PM
the E-Z barbell is easier on the wrists and the olympic bar i think might just be to big for my size. my elbows also hit the plates on the EZ bar though. it can be awkward at times. but is there any actual diference in the bars for the exercise or is the diference diferent in each person?
12  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / upright rows with E-Z or olympic bar? on: April 09, 2007, 12:40:02 PM
i just searched to see if anyone else had posted about this but cannot find anything so i'l post.

which is better to use, the E-Z curl barbell or the olympic barbell for doing upright rows? at the moment i am using the olympic barbell but the E-Z bar was easier to use but if the olympic barbell is better i will continue to use it.

thanks

aaron if your gym does not have sufficient equipment would you not think of moving gym? i did that my self as the equipment in my old gym was v-old and kept breaking. its does a whole lot of diference when you use better equipment. im 17 and bench 110kg but my squats have stopped due to the removal of my toenail from infection and im on crutches wont be squatin for 3 months hahahaahaaa....... im boloxed!!

P.S where in ireland you live?, im in Dublin.

hello

I'm dave, the guy luke was talking to in the gym.
This programme looks challenging and i will try my best to do it.
Luke as you know in our gym we do not have a t-bar machine. Next time can you show me a way to replicate them or should i leave them out?
Also how many reps approx. should i be doing with each exercise.?
