outlaw, will u being offering any 'discounts' for those  who choose a 12  month subscription?

Just  a thought....

Also, i hope this magazine can stay faithful to the 'all Australian' content.

It will be 100% Aussie content, don't worry about that.

We did a few promos over the last month, offering discounted subscriptions, but they have finished now.
A subscription is fuck-all though, we only have 6 issues for the first 12mths, so it's only 6X $6.95.  ($41.70)
Trust me, it won't break your bank account! Grin

Each issue is $7.95, but subscribers save a whopping $1.00 per issue if they subscribe!!!!..(Not bad hey?)

Our merchant account for our website is nearly ready.  We just have to sign a few papers & hopefully it's all systems go!
We should be up & running sometime after Easter.

As for Milos, he & other "foreign" athletes won't be writing for the magazine unless there is an Australian angle in it somewhere.  So if Milos were to write an article on how he trains Luke, then I would be cool with that.  Or if he were to write a Contest Report which featured Aussie BBers, then that's cool too.

To be perfectly honest, I don't want a whole bunch of Pro BBers telling us how they eat & train.  Let's be honest, we all know what most of them do anyway, so it's not very interesting if you ask me.  I mean to say, how can you make, Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press, Chicken, Broccoli & Rice sound interesting?  That's pretty well what every does, so how many times do people want to read it?

It bores me to tears.  I want more Contest Reports & more Profiles.  I want to find out what Aussie BBers do outside of BBing as well as their goals in the sport etc.  More personal shit I suppose.

I've got a cool Promo DVD on YouTube if you guys want to have a look?
We played it a the Aussie Pro show & the crowd loved it.  Make sure you play the bastard LOUD!!!!  It fucking rocks!!!

I hope this link works.  Let me know what you think.

Hey Outlaw how can we locals get our hands on a copy/sub of the mag?
It will be for sale in newsagents all over Australia, at many gyms & via subscription.
28  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 11:35:08 PM
I have never met Milos before, but at the Melb Pro show, he walked straight up to our stand, introduced himself & offered to supply photos or anything else he could do to help.  Once again, he is like Lee Priest, there are no grey areas, you either love him or hate him.

Regardless, colorful people like Lee & Milos make for great reading, they "put bums on seats", so to speak.
He's a pretty handy photographer too, so if he were to supply some photos of Aussie BBers, I'd be very happy.

Maybe we could get an autographed photo of Milos & Luke training together, I'm sure Hank would buy one! Grin
29  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 11:13:35 PM
Lee would be someone we would be looking at obviously.
I must be honest, I have never met him, but I know plenty of people who do, so it won't be hard to get a hook up with him.

His controversial views are right up our alley.
Whether you like him or not, he is definitely a "neon light".  There is nothing shy or subtle about him.

I'm sure that there will be people who hate the magazine, as well as those who love it.
That's cool, so long as you know about us, I'll be happy.

Maybe I could give Lee a right of reply from the article in Kris's Kaged Muscle magazine.
His ex really gave it to him with both barrels, it was a great read.
Naturally we'd love to question him about all the two-ing & fro-ing with the IFBB & PDI stuff.

I've got plenty of Aussie history too.  We've pumped out some pretty handy BBers in our day.
Some of the old physiques are awesome.  I can't wait to show you.
30  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 10:01:54 PM
Thanks guys, I take all comments on board.

The cover is pretty much as it is, just a bit of fine tuning & tweaking up, but the basically we are happy with it.
As for the "Barbie Dolls", I like them as much as the next man, but I'm not paying $7.95 to see chicks in bikinis.
We have plenty of suitable magazines over here full of Bimbos.

We may put a couple of photos in our "Snapshots" section, a bit like MD does, but they will not be featured, we've got too many good BBers who deserve to be featured instead.

I'm not really worried about taking $$$ off the general public.  Others are already doing that, we will stick to what we know & suffer the consequences, good or bad.
We are a serious BBing mag, so we want chicks with muscles, not models.

Magazine info:

$7.95 per issue
Bi monthly - 6 issues per year.
It will be available in newsagents all over Australia, as well as in good gyms & via subscription.
I have no idea how much it will be for overseas buyers, but I will find out in the next few weeks.
We will only cover shows overseas, that Aussies compete in.
We have the Aussie Pro Show & the Arnold Classic in our first issue, but we will probably cover the Mr Olympia, whether Aust has a representative or not.  It's the big-dance, so we need to put it in.
We have an interview with Pommy Pro BBer John Hodgson coming up in the second issue.
It is due out in mid June.

So long as an Australian is involved, or it happens on Australian soil, we will do our best to cover it.

Neil Gardner, (Monsta), will be involved with the magazine, (unfortunately, he is a good friend of mine & will get the shits if I don't let him write some stuff for us) Cheesy
He has already written a great piece for the first issue.

I have got most of Australia's best BBers involved, so we have plenty of credibility as far as writers & content goes.
I wish I could show you the mock-up that we have done.  In a word, it's stunning!  Everyone who has seen it, loves it.

Hopefully for Australian BBing, it will be successful.

Thanks again for your input, support & interest.
31  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 05:19:40 PM
Thanks for the thought, I am not in the 'advertising game' and will decline your offer.  I will just continue making an annoying nuisance of myself on Getbig!

I really hope the mag does well for you!  There is a strong and supportive bodybuilding community in OZ, which i know, will be very positive and supportive of this publishing venture.

Maybe Dohertys and Tony from Bell St. Fitness would be interested in advertising in your mag?  I know these two have a lot of strong contacts in the industry.

Both Tony's are supporting the magazine, as to be expected.
Us Aussie's love our BBing, so something like this is long overdue.

You could always subscribe if you don't want to advertise. Grin
32  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 04:29:20 PM
Good luck with the mag.  I hope you can get some strong sponsorship and a substancial-article and picture-base.  It must be hard trying to operate and be profitable within such a niche market?
Cheers mate.

It is a very niche market that we are aiming for.  We are determined not to go down the old "12 week challenge" path & we won't be bothering with Bikini bimbos either.  We are only interested in people with muscles.  The response from advertisers has been overwhelmingly positive.  Of course, trying to get them to submit their artwork on time is a different kettle of fish!

We have truckloads of content, both text & photos, but the amount that we put in will be determined by how many advertisers we get on board.  The more we get, the more content we will pump out.  We are not trying to make a fortune or take over the world, just supply Aussies with a half decent magazine.

I'm always looking for more advertisers, perhaps you are interested? Wink

Thankyou Outlaw mate!!! You and your lovley wife have become 2 of my dearest friends and the support you 2 give me is just ovewr whelming!!! You are a legend mate!!! Tell us about your new magazine mate??
Aw shucks, I don't want to hijack this intellegent thread on what dill you are are for training with Milos, but if you insist.................. ........

I am starting a new magazine here in Australia.  It is called Hardcore Aussie Muscle.  It will be 100% Aussie content, so I guess none of you guys will be interested, but hopefully it will do well here in Oz.  Our current batch of magazines are shit, so something like this is well overdue.  We will cover all States in Australia & have people in the UK & the US suppling us with info & photos of Aussies who compete overseas.

We have the support of all federations in Australia, in fact, they are all very pleased about it.  You guys get so much publicity over there, but here in Australia, our athletes get sweet fuck-all.  I would like to change this.

Here is a pic of our cover.

34  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: luke wood..there is still time on: April 01, 2007, 02:20:07 PM
Ok lets changes the subject!! WOW!! that LUKE WOOD is a HANDSOME man!!! Cheesy
Well, that's stretching it a bit mate!
I've been eyeball-to-eyeball with you & trust me, I've seen better heads on cabbages! Grin

Mind you, this is a fuck-up/weird thread.  I can't believe it?

Luke's not a bad bloke.  This year has been a tough one for him, so the last thing he needs is crap like this.
Just let him get on with his training & ask him sensible questions instead of this type of rubbish.
He would be only too please to help a genuine fan.

Here is a photo of Luke, Guest Posing at my show last year.
As you can see, he was in top shape for it.

Cheers mate.
35  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Pictures of Luke Woods in Japan on: August 06, 2006, 02:23:35 PM
Looks like Luke did'nt think too much of that post??? i must admit giving Luke the biggest wrap in one post and than posting about HOMO's and Luke making stains on his posing trunks is not the kind of marketing Luke needs!
Yeah, a bit of misplaced Aussie humour there. Undecided

The idea of the framed autographed poster with the trunks is for some lucky punter to win a bit of Aust BBing memorabilia.  Luke was pretty bloody generous to donate what would be considered a fairly sentimental piece of his personal BBing possessions.  I'm really grateful for his kind gesture.  Excuse my lousy humour.

36  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Pictures of Luke Woods in Japan on: August 06, 2006, 01:31:01 PM
A homos dream prize!
Grin lol. Grin

It was originally just a quirky idea.  You know, own a bit of Aust BBing history, that type of thing.  But I guess in hindsight, it could be seen as a way of getting support from the gay community.  (Not that there is anything wrong with that!) Wink

The Country Classic Invitational is proud to embrace people from all races & cultures................ even Homos. Grin

That's one thing that Luke has let me down with.  He promised that he would wash them before he sent them to me, but they arrived with a white crusty substance on the front of them.  He was obviously pretty excited when he won! Cheesy
37  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Pictures of Luke Woods in Japan on: August 05, 2006, 11:58:41 PM
so as for what show he is doing next, im not sure, but i know he guest posing at a show in Victoria at the end of next month that i will be attneding and if he i this good a shape for a guest pose, the crowd will love him.
Hey Neddy.  Are you really coming over to Bendigo to watch Luke's Guest Pose?  If you are then you will be pleased to know that we are giving away a massive framed & autographed photo of the Big Fella himself.  In fact, it's even got the actual posing trunks that he wore when he won his Pro card!   Luke will be announcing the winner straight after his routine & will present it to the winner personally.  Hopefully it will be you.  It cost's nothing, you just need to buy a seat at the theatre.

As the promoter of this show, I can tell you all, that Luke was our first & only choice for the Guest Pose.  This is our first contest & we are really trying to change the way BBing shows are run in this Country.  (Aust).

Luke is very popular down here & is obviously going to make any promoter happy with the condition that he displays for his Guest Posing.  Just a bit more about Luke.  He is really a promoter's dream.  Not only can we rely on him to be in good nic, but he really pumps up the show, telling everyone how good it will be, helping competitors with their prep for the show, it's not just a Guest Pose to him, it's the whole package.

Although you guys like to take the piss out of him now & then, the fact is, he's a pretty down to earth bloke who is willing to lend anyone a hand.  He has gone out of his way to promote our show, so regardless of whether you like his physique or not, he has a very professional approach that is greatly appreciated.

If you would like to know more about the show, you can check out our website.  We hope to download photos as the show is being run, so you will be able to check out how good Luke looks.

38  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The Official End To ANY Ronnie Bashing... on: July 24, 2006, 10:59:45 PM
Maybe it's just me, but you couldn't have picked two worse photos to show off the guy's physique.  I find them both very unflattering, regardless of the light.
39  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Vince Taylor out of the PDI & into the Olympia on: July 17, 2006, 04:40:09 PM

They don't have to, the IFBB is essentially a business.

The PDI is also a business.  Its also a rival business to the IFBB

Does Microsoft let their workers go to Red Hat to work on Linux???

I'm sure all Microsft employees get a weekly wage with holiday pay, sick pay etc.  Are the IFBB Pros getting paid to work for the IFBB?  If not, then then why does the IFBB see fit to tell them when & where they can compete.

I was under the impression that they were competing for prize money, not getting paid a wage to compete by the IFBB.
40  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Mad Props, thanks Lee Priest on: July 12, 2006, 02:56:26 AM
Being an Aussie & watching Tony's shows first hand, I can tell you they are all well run shows.  The Pro show he runs is always a ripper, with all the Pros appreciating the way in which Tony treats them.

I think Lee's beef with the IFBB stems from the contracts they make the competitors sign.  From a report I read somewhere last year, he was pretty dirty with the way they stitch you up, showing total disregard for the athlete's own personal sponsors.  Can't remember exactly, but it was something along those lines.

I'd love to see Tony have a crack at the Olympia.  It's about time other countries got to host it again.  The European Olympia's were awesome.  How come they stopped?
41  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Has there been a bodybuilding DVD you regret buying? on: July 05, 2006, 07:41:46 PM
Yeah.... Dorian Yates' Blood & Guts.  Angry
I didn't mind it.  The old dungeon looking gym and black & white film was pretty cool I thought.  Bits of it were annoying, but overall, I thought it was one of the better ones.  Ronnie the Unbelievable was pretty good too.  Lots of free weight exercises with heavy weights.  Good stuff.

Jay's was boring, as was Made In Germany, Marcus Rhul.  I feel cheated on those two.  The worst I ever saw though goes to this years Mr Olympia.  Whoever produced that should be shot!  Crap sound, too many fancy-arsed camera angles.................i t was shithouse!
42  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: would this piss you off? on: July 03, 2006, 06:10:43 PM
I'll tell you what pissed me off recently Angry It was leg day last Wednesday and I worked up to my max weight of 315 for the front squat. I usually do 6 sets of 8 - 10 (ass to the floor). Anyway, after my 3rd set or so, I am just resting in between sets, staring at the floor when this kid weighing about 160 lbs comes up and asks me if he could work in with me. He was obviously a newb and there were 2 other power racks that were free. I ask him why he couldn't use one of those and he says that he was used to this one  Roll Eyes (which was exactly the same as the other 2). Anyway, I walk away so he can do his set and what does the f*cking moron do, but strip all the 3 plates of 1 side. Sure enough the bar comes crashing down making a huge noise. Then, rather that do his set, he keeps shuffling his feet, looking uneasy. I'm like WTF? A few secs later, he approaches me looking extremely nervous and sweaty and says, "Uh, dude, sorry about this, but when the bar fell down, it fell on your belt and broke it".

The belt he broke was my beloved Valeo that I'd been using for the last 12 years  Cry. And to add insult to injury, the motherf*cker put on a 25 lb plate on either side of the bar and did 1 set of quarter squats for 8 reps, before declaring he was done and moved on  Angry

Calm blue ocean, Calm blue ocean

LOL........ Grin Grin Grin.........Mate, that's fucking gold!  Sorry to laugh at you, but I'm sure you'd see the funny side if was someone else.
43  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: SERGIO OLIVA'S SON COMPETING! on: July 03, 2006, 05:48:06 PM
The kid looks great.  I wonder how many other sons have followed in their father's footsteps in competitive BBing?
44  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Bertil Fox on: July 02, 2006, 07:17:29 PM
Here you go .

Cheers mate.

45  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Bertil Fox on: July 02, 2006, 04:04:18 PM
No, I was not there that day, but you and I seem to have been in the same place much of the same time during that time frame.

Bertil was awesome. I had just started bench pressing and he walked over and asked if we could train together. As you remember, he had that accent and was somewhat soft spoken. He was spotting me on inclines and wanted me to add more weight so he says, “just do it, just do it, I will tip the bar for you”, which meant spot me. The guy was incredible strong. We always finished chest with 5 super sets of dumbbell flys and dips. Everything was a minimum of five sets. Always.

Keith, those were the days, right??

Mate, that rocks.............traini ng with Bertil Fox. Cool

I reckon he was hard done by in 83.  That routine he does & the crowd's response is awesome.  He really had the crowd on his side that day, they went ape-shit when he was called out 5th.  BBing had so much more passion in those days.

Samir deserved to win IMO, he was beautifully balanced & would no doubt have collected many first votes in the Symmetry round, whereas Bertil probably lost ground in this round.  Two of my all-time favourite BBers.

Samirs back was sensational, but that kneeling side chest/most muscular pose that Fox does is fucking ripper.  I don't think I've seen anyone else do it.  I don't suppose anyone has a pic of it?
46  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Tribute: Cory Everson on: June 27, 2006, 05:29:34 PM
Got any Anja or Lenda pics?

I'm with ARMZ..............what the hell, post a couple of hooter shots.
47  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Tribute: Cory Everson on: June 27, 2006, 03:54:09 PM
Are talking about Carla "I got pretty eyes" Temple or Dunlap?

48  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Tribute: Cory Everson on: June 27, 2006, 01:49:20 PM
Anja Langer owns all fbb's of the past and today.
She rocks!  Best by a mile.  Add Lenda Murray too.  Carla was good for her time.

I remember seeing Cory Guest Pose here in Australia in the late 80's sometime.  She was in shithouse condition.  Did the classic dance/wobble across the stage for 5mins.  It sucked. Sad
49  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Positive Bodybuilding Discussion & Talk / Re: Lee, get back in the IFBB! on: June 15, 2006, 08:11:55 PM
O.K.............I'm just the dumb Aussie newbie.  Was this just a BS post? Huh
50  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Positive Bodybuilding Discussion & Talk / Re: Lee, get back in the IFBB! on: June 15, 2006, 06:22:49 PM
I think it's great that Lee has gone to PDI.  I wish others would follow his lead.  Anyway, he's no idiot.  He would know full well that due to the politics involved, he's never winning the Olympia.

He's done the right thing for himself IMO.  Go Aussie!
