That way of preacher curling was a gironda method, like many of girondas exercises it looked weird but apparently was very effective.
davie
I did that curl in my biceps routine a few weeks ago. Kinda cool it was known (and supposedly effective) from back in the day. For those who say it was effective, what are your sources? I found it was stressing the bi's pretty well, and would prefer it to straight-BB as I didn't get much feel from that.

Being younger and new to dips, maybe I haven't got problems because of those things, but I think (like all exercises) form plays a vital role. You don't want to be swinging with dips, but try to keep it flowing smoothly and if it hurts anywhere when doing them (like it did with me on my right hand) you should change it until it feels better.

One word: freak. I would love to have his physique. All the major bodyparts were massive and dense, with such a small waist and good proportions. Imagine if he was competing today, with the diet and training knowledge. He'd be Coleman's equal, no doubt.

Larry also knew he couldnt curl big weights with weak forarms so he developed a low bench that sat about 12 inches of the floor that he would straddle and lay his arms over to do wrists curls.
One of the exercises in Arnold's Encyclopedia. Did Larry invent that? Anyway, the guy had some serious mass on his chest and arms. Some of, if not the biggest biceps I've ever seen.

Maybe he chose the robes and excessive gear to hide a lacking physique for a while? As for general outfits, I don't mind them, but I think it's best to show more of the body than hide it with costumes. But, whatever works.

I agree with the point of people sticking to the routines they know, but the average Joe Schmo who works out isn't going to compete in strength/physique competition. They sign up to "get fit." Whatever that means to them is their business, so whose to say they want to be at 6% BF and huge? I'm pretty sure most wouldn't. Maybe they seem to be getting nowhere to people who strive for that ripped/huge muscle look, but without knowing what their goals are, it's hard to say they're not improving at whatever they're doing just because their body seems to look the same.

Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: hitting ultimate muscular failure and sometimes no soreness?

if you work out on a regular basis and drink plenty of fluids..soreness doesn't exists..if it does it's usually a precursor to injury.
When I trained 6 days straight out of the week, no soreness to speak of. When I would take a few days off and then on my first day back = soreness. Similar warmup each time. I put soreness down to the muscles not being ready to take the load. Those that train twice a week and stretch alot I doubt hardly ever have soreness.

I lean as far forward that will work my lats the best. At first I didn't lean far forward and I found out that just by looking at myself side-on in the mirror, the more I lean forward, the more it stretches the lats. Trick is not to push too far back with the lower back. Keep fairly straight and thrust the chest out at the end.

I call dead even on that back shot with Doz, if not Nasser getting the upperhand out of sheer better conditioning on many more parts than Dorian had (which only were a few parts of the back and glutes.) Nasser was thicker, wider and had more overall mass and conditioning in that shot.
Someone post pics or show me where to find the mandatories. I'd like to know how Nasser lost that.
