physically Lebron is on a level all by himself, size, strength, speed he's built like a linebacker all which makes him one of the very best in the NBA. Take into consideration everyone in the NBA is already in the top >1% of the US population. Jordan however was not physically as dominating as Lebron, Jordan's size was average compared to his counterparts..which makes what he did all that more amazing. Consider how many guys in the NBA at that time had the physical stature of Jordan, most everyone yet he killed them all. i hated jordan growing up but the guy would not lose.

just saw the movie.
it was ok. i mean how many different ways can you see Peter
-get bit by the spider
-Uncle Ben gets shot from the robber Peter could have stopped
-Peter have internal struggles at when he first gets his new powers
-Peter get accustomed to his new powers by flying through the city
also this version of spidey isnt as strong as the Tobey version, i know thats hard to believe, but he get his ass handed to him the remake. he's lucky he got saved at the end, he was about to get killed by Mr. Lizard.

Palin made fun of fruit fly research without knowing that fruit flies are one of the most important model of organisms for genetic research. You learn this in Junior HighSchool science class. As I said, Palin, and the others, are just as stupid.

MMA has peaked. it wont go mainstream because
-the belt changes hands too many times it doesnt catch the general publics attention.
-the skill involved is not top tier, in no sport could someone be the number one contender in a few months with a record of 3-0 much less be the champ at that stage of their career.
-to be world in class bjj, boxing, judo, wrestling etc takes years of practice and skill
-to be the champ in MMA just takes someone who is semi-good in a few of those and who can also take a punch. there are thousands of people with this qualification out there. its basically an evolved tough man competition.

First of all a Kodiak--not a grizzly or polar bear should be used as the exemplar of bear mightiness. Kodiaks, despite being slightly smaller than polar bear in terms of weight, have much thicker skulls, and are covered with dense fur and fat. It is thought that, as polar bear habitat shrinks, they will lose out to kodiaks as they are forced to compete with them in the same niche environment. You said that when stripped of their fat, bears of comparable in lean muscle mass to gorillas, however what you failed to mention is this layer of fat actually assist fighting, not hinder it. Similarly, the Chinese Shar-pei was bred to have excessive layers of fat folds, to protect it from grievous wounds by other dogs. Kodiaks weigh 1000-1200 pounds, and a silverback standing upright would barely stand taller than a Kodiak's SHOULDER. Standing upright, the massive Kodiak is around 10' tall-- dwarfing all silverback gorillas.  Silverbacks have a powerful bite, but their bite is nullified because a silverback has a short muzzle and dull teeth, that wouldn't be capable of penetrating this kind of dense fat layer. That is assuming a gorilla would get past the Kodiak's claws first...  Kodiak bears have claws approaching 5" long!!! A gorilla's lean muscle mass would work against it, as it stuggles to grapple with the neckless bear. The kodiak would tear through it's flesh, raking it with it's claws until it dies.  makes sense, the loose skin and fat of the Kodiak would only make it more difficult for the Silverback to inflict any vital damage. any direct swipe from the Kodiac's 5" claws onto the lean muscle of the Silverback would be devastating. |

i dont watch nearly as often but when i do flip through the fans seem as fanatical as ever though. i think for me at that point, i had never seen "good vs evil" depicted so clearly, and with that much charisma from both the wrestlers and announcers it really was magic for me. now lines are blurred and the heels are also fan favs. also during Hulkamania and Bobby Heenan etc at the age of 7-11 i thought it was real. perhaps the glory was lost when i grew up  |

the story lines were so basic back then but there was so much more electricity to the moments its not even comparable. why is that? |
