Romney is a Mormon.  Forget about his candidacy.  He was rejected by the Religious Right once before, and will be again.

Palin very well could run in 2012.  Dems would be pleased and would guarantee many more years of Democratic majority power.

The Republican Party is pretty much dead in the water right now.  It can either go further to the Left or start espousing a hardline Nationalist slant.
1402  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: My solution for the auto companies................. on: November 12, 2008, 11:51:51 PM
Legacy costs, lack of US economic protectionist policies, Unions(partly to blame), and general public perception on the overall quality of US autos are all to blame.

The "Big 3" are still paying tons in health insurance to former and retired workers.  Those health insurance costs are hugely more expensive than what the Japanese and European work force has to pay.  In accordance with Union demands on providing healthcare to the Big 3's workforce, costs are huge in this area alone.

Most other nations have protectionist policies.  We don't.  Try to sell an American car overseas and it is immediately slapped with a huge tariff, whereas we get flooded with imports. The Japanese and European brands even get to have assembling plants here with a non-unionized workforce and no tariffs.  To counter this, the Big 3 are forced more and more to outsource parts and factories to places such as Mexico and China.  Why bail out the struggling US companies when our government legislates unfair and uneven competition designed to kill the US automotive industry?  Sounds like a huge waste of money.

Unions have quickly been getting dismantled the last few decades.  There is less true Union membership nowadays than there have ever has before.  Their power is greatly diminished.  While I think a few of their demands are a bit excessive today, one only has to look overseas to the slave-labor abused factory workers in China what happens without adequate worker protection.

American cars have really sharpened up in comparison with their Japanese and European counterparts.  Fuel efficiency has greatly increased across the board and can very much compare when comparing similar models to its competition.  The days of '70s Chrysler and the "truck interior" Corvette days are very much over.  The amount of cheaply-produced Chinese parts within many of their models does greatly impact overall quality, however.

Their coffee taste like it's burnt to me. Fuck Starbucks!

Exactly!  I read some time ago in a coffee blog that the burnt taste is there in an effort to disguise the overall poor quality of their beans.

Coffee is supposed to be a sweet drink anyways, not mouth-puckering bitter.

I long got away from the financial system.  I'm not going to sit around and watch my investments rise and fall at the whims of a selected few people.  If you want your fortunes based on a demented type of poker game, be my guest.

I refuse any sort of loan.  I have but one credit card(for hotel purposes) which is locked in a safe.  I have no mortgage, no car payment, no loan of any sort.

The US will remain in recession, will continue to ship jobs overseas, and be inundated with cheap, slave-labor imports.

It's time for protectionist measures...and fast.

United States Navy, Information Systems Technician 2nd Class(SW).
USCG Reserve, Law Enforcement Detachment(as an IT).....4 years.

Served 5 years out of Jacksonville, Fl.  Did 3 deployments doing Counter-Drug Ops in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific basins. Did one additional counter-drug op deployment as a USCG law enforcement detachment.

I am a Veteran, but there are other Veterans that could use more assistance out there, specifically ones that have health issues and/or were medically discharged.  I am thankful for the "free" college money I received, and would not ask for anything else.

Policy-wise, I would like to see a severe reduction in outsourcing the many facets of what our military does.  Up until the Bush years, cooks, mailmen, administrative personnel, and other support-related duties were filled by US military members.  Members that helped unit cohesiveness and morale and could be used as a backup defensive fighting force if ever needed.  Our government now outsources many of these roles to such companies as Halliburton and Blackwater, where such personnel performing such services are paid as much as 5 times the amount a US Servicemen would be paid.......all on tax money at that.  In addition, while not necessarily condemning all contractor employees, many of them simply go for the fat paycheck and avoid dangers that soldiers would otherwise have to go through.

Decker is right Brixtonbulldog.

Read my previous post in this thread regarding the FACT that socialism has allowed all many European countries to overtake America.

Japan, a country America DEFEATED in 1945; economically ruined and bombed to shit... overtook America from a standing start in just 45 years through socialism.

Now China, recently an overpopulated Third World country is overtaking America through a socialist mix of strictly regulated and manipulated capitalism and communist ideology.

America is sliding DOWN all the positive living indices... check the UN reports.

China? China is progressing better than America. Dude, seriously... take off the "USA #1!" giant foam finger and do a little research WITHOUT the Republican interpretive filter.

The Luke

America is failing largely due to having little to no economic protectionist policies, unchecked immigration, and increases in an uneducated populace.  America is not failing because Japan, China, and some European nations are doing so many things right or partaking in socialist or communist philosophies.

Europe, particularly Western Europe, is in extremely deep trouble, strong currency or not.  All of their populations are well below Birth Replacement Rate and are rapidly aging.  The "unborn" native populace are replaced by the grateful hordes of  Middle Eastern and African populations who flood into the region by the millions, bringing with them a culture and religion that to it's core cannot and will not assimilate to Western progressive values and culture.  Unless something drastic happens, areas such as the UK, France, and Germany WILL be Islamic strongholds.

China is overpopulated and polluted.  It is unable to feed and water it's populations.  It's industry is unregulated......at least until kids die from lead paint or have their kidneys seize up from tainted milk.  It's population suffers a tremendous amount of human rights abuses and violations under this great socialist and communist government.   China, despite the numerous advancements made in various technological industries(and many copied from US and Russian sources), cannot become a First World nation because the bulk of its nation suffers and are dirt poor.  Sending a satellite into space while it's people work for meager earnings in brutal factory conditions a great nation does not make.

Japan is very nationalistic and were able to penetrate the US markets with little to no opposition.  Due to companies like Toyota and Honda, the very US companies that had helped to build the war machine that leveled Japan's forces in the Pacific are now going under and suffering huge debts.....while just down the street, a Toyota plant is shitting out brand new Prius's by a non-Union workforce.  Japan in the near future will also experience some of what Europe nowadays faces, an aging population, decreasing younger populations, and tough decisions as to whether to import foreign workers.

Japanese men will eat only local Kobe beef, but will pick their teeth with toothpicks made from American Pine trees.  That's why they are ahead, but, all is not entirely well in Japan.

America's for sale folks, and at firesale prices!  We'll continue to see time tradition US assets become owned by rich entities in places like the UAE, Singapore, Kuwait, Spain, and France.  I'm almost certain that when the Big 3 DO merge together, they'll soon be bankrupt after, or bought out by Toyota.

Those numbers are staggering, btw.
1413  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: China looking inward as foreign economies slow on: October 12, 2008, 02:27:26 PM
I don't think that would work out too well for China.  Good luck trying to feed all 1.4 Billion of your people.  Good luck in cleaning up the majority of China's rivers that are polluted with industrial toxins.  Good luck in correcting innumerable human rights abuses and violations.  Good luck in clearing up that great air in their great cities.  Aside from top Chicom government officials, the rich, and the small but growing middle class, the vast majority of the Chinese people suffer greatly under the Communists and the unregulated industries.

Aside from reclaiming great swathes of now Russian land that had once belonged to them, or the continued colonization of sub-Sahara Africa(yes, you read that right), it is highly unlikely that China can function any better than a polished shitpot of a country.
1414  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: THE ACORN SCAM.....FOR O'BAMA on: October 12, 2008, 02:16:23 PM
I've actually had to deal with ACORN members down here in SoFla and they can be quite the nasty bunch.  You'd see about 4-7 of them harassing and intimidating people to sign registration forms on their clipboards.....mostly done in poorer neighborhoods and around major bus terminals.  They have also in the past been a major front group in pressuring banks to give out risky loans to predominantly poor minorities and businesses.......I guess the risk of being called racist and being involved in civil suits were just too much to bear when compared with giving out a few more risky loans.  Many of these suits were settled out of court anyways, further fattening ACORN's coffers.

We need to have voting restrictions.  Our population is becoming increasingly more stupid and politically inactive every year.  More and more people are voting based on what candidate will give them and their family some sort of check or other social handout.  Maybe, as it happened in the Philippines in their last election, some celebrity actor will give a dollar to each dirt-poor household and get their vote to rule as some sort of dictator.  I'm almost totally convinced that too many people could care less what our government does or how the Constitution is constantly being circumvented so long as the checks and food stamps keep coming, 22 inch rims on the '85 Oldsmobile, and a pair of chrome truck nuts off their F-150.
1415  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Why do we have so many stupid and delusional Atheists on getbig? on: October 01, 2008, 05:55:23 PM
Since Atheists, or Objectivists, or Brights, or whatever, like to follow logic and reasoning, why not follow Christianity and Christ?  In some interpretations of the Judaism faith, non-Jews go to hell to burn for eternity, irregardless of what they do in this life.  In Islam, you suffer in Purgatory based on what you had done in this life....then and only then can you go down the road to their version of eternal salvation.  In Christianity, you will go to Hell if you are not Saved.

So, as a Christian(and a beginning one at that), this seems to be the logical road to go down. I'm not Jewish, so if their version is correct, I'm screwed either way.  If the Islamic path is the right way, I guess I'll suffer in their Purgatory.  An Atheist will surely go to Hell as he has completely forsaken God and turned down the many other paths away from Him.  Good deeds alone a man is not guaranteed to go into Heaven.

Besides, even if the Christian doctrine and all of it that it stands for were completely false, would Atheism even triumph in this regard?  Most Atheists I see are snippy, angry, and unhappy people...always on the defensive when it comes to religion "intruding" on their personal lives, and lashing out at anything that's out of place in their eyes.  I could be wrong,  there could be a happy Atheist out there, but I highly doubt it.

One of the things that many, if not most, Christians do is thump their bible, but will never actually get down to the nitty-gritty and start meeting these "champions of logic and reasoning" head-on with an assertion of their own logic and reasoning.  It is there.  But, that's why much of it is simply called "Faith."  Christians have the duty to do their homework as well, and sometimes find things they don't like.

Sorry for the long post.

"If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything."

I've owned 3 F-cars... an '85 Trans Am with a 383 stroker(stolen, found with the motor blown).  I also had an '01 white Z-28 with just bolt-ons.  My current car is an '01 Pewter Trans Am....AFR heads, G5X2 cam, all bolt ons, forged internals(pistons, rods, crankshaft), true duals with dumps, 150 TNT Wet Shot, formerly had a TNT 150 dry shot on top of that, battery relocated to the back, Moser 12 bolt rear, 3.73 gears, 3200 stall, Stg. 3 4l60E(still a piece of shit), lca's, some suspension, and a bit of weight reduction.

I've always liked the LS-series motors over the modular Fords.  The only big thing I'm a fan of from Ford is their 5.0 motors.  Other than that, Ford goes the cheap way of adding power:  superchargers and soon turbos.  Lame.  Plus, every grandma and grand-daughter has a mustang.

Can you please provide an executive summary to these cut and paste posts.  Thanks in advance

I actually wrote it.  Tongue
I've written a few like these before.

Summary:
-Falling native European population
-Rising muslim and immigrant population
-native europeans become minorities
-Western ideals and philosophies replaced by Muslim ones
1419  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: Does Europe suffer from serious Arab immigration problems? on: September 11, 2008, 07:58:14 AM
Western Europe will be finished soon enough.  All of it's native European populations are well below Birth Replacement Rates with Spain being near the bottom with an average of 1.2 children per woman.  If these trends continue, there will be an almost 2:1 Young to Elderly ratio if population trends and demographics remain unchanged.  Europe will counter this trend by bringing in even more immigrants from the middle east, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa.  While it is understood by most that the great majority of these immigrants seek nothing more than work and better living conditions, the fact of the matter is that as they gain greater influence and population numbers, the culture will change dramatically.  It is highly unlikely that the new majority will readily embrace "progressive" and "liberal" ideals such as gay rights, religious freedom, and minority rights.  Native Europeans will soon become a near powerless minority in their own countries of origin.......which is often greeted with fanfare as it is seen by some to alleviate post-Colonial guilt.

This is primarily the fault of the West in general, a weakness in its progressiveness and overall constitution, rather than overt attempts by various immigrant populations to assert their culture and ways of life into the mainstream.  Crushing taxes, the rise of feminism and the homosexual agenda, lax immigration policies, falling birth replacement rates, and an overall sense of "guilt" by various European governments in its past treatment of other nations and peoples are all helping to ensure the future doesn't belong to native Europeans.  The Muslim populations moving in seem to desire the exact opposite: They aggressively spread their culture and religion, possess a strong adherence to the nuclear and extended family, and have no qualms at all in using up the numerous social programs offered by the state.

Japan and Israel face similar situations, although they are not as far gone as Europe.  Only Muslim Albania seems to buck the population trends.  Russia, which also faces serious population reduction problems, is using incentive programs for women to have children rather than flooding its nation with young immigrants.

That reads of something out of a Tom Clancy novel.  Iran and other shitpot countries are no threat to us domestically.  Iran has nearly 70% of its population under 35 years of age, and most of them are Western-friendly.  The best tactic to deal with the rapidly aging and diminishing leadership is to wait them out.  They will be replaced.

The problems with the West are not external factors, but internal ones.  There are no enemies at the gates.  They are already within the gates.

There are for sale signs everywhere on my street.  I know too well about the tall grass in front of empty homes.  There used to be about a dozen kids or so that'd play out by the street.....now they're gone.  It's pretty quiet outside, except when nightfall arrives......that's when bass gets bumping and more than once some guy was screaming into his cell phone while walking the street.  Crime is rising, and even the most basic of jobs are starting to become hard to come by.  Broward county is a bit of a wreck...hell, they're on the verge of laying off some teachers.

My old neighborhood in Buffalo, where I grew up at, has gotten even worse.  I didn't think it was possible.   A big problem was out of town homeowners renting their places out to less than desirable people.

Socialist or not, it is the 3rd-largest employer in the US.  It is also rather inefficient in many aspects.  One way in how it makes money is it mails out huge amounts of junk mail and various posters for business and corporations.  Everyday I have to dig through credit card offers and chinese food menus to get at my important mail.
1425  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: I'm a lifelong conservative activist and I'm backing Barack Obama on: July 29, 2008, 04:38:32 PM
Republicans are not Conservatives.

The same can be said when analyzing Democrats and Liberals.

With the backing of Obama, Mr. Hunter immediately stops being a conservative activist.  There is nothing conservative about Obama at all.  The man is a globalist and a self-proclaimed "Citizen of the World."  No thanks.

I wish folks wouldn't vote on the basis of the "lesser of the two evils" but rather vote for the candidate who has their interests in mind.  Both McCain's and Obama's policies will only weaken the middle class and devalue the US as a whole.

But the US voters get what they deserve.
