1  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Bob Chick pathetic trainer? on: April 17, 2007, 07:33:01 PM
"Have trained at Golds ,Venice for 15 years.Have witnessed some hardcore workouts by top bodybuilders.Rory Leidelmeyer being one of the most hardcore and powerful ever witnessed. But have seen some real pathetic workouts by top guys. Here are the all time most pathetic trainers I witnessed.Paul Dillet,Gary Strydom,Mike Christian,Flex Wheeler,Bob Chicarillo. These are not just one time deals either. They were consistent with pathetic training methods and intensity. I dont care what you have read in magazines or heard. They are all awesome bodybuilders and some of my favorites, but it really told me a lot about genetics and extreme drug use. Dont get me started on what I used to see them eating in the weeks leading up to shows. And not just on cheat days. Any one else out there have these same stories?" - Tom

It is not much of a comment, just someone starting a thread out of boredom perhaps. Anyone could learn a lot by training with any of these guys.
2  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Thank You Jack Lalane! on: April 17, 2007, 07:50:13 AM
He is 93 with a birthday coming up in couple of months. He is an amazing guy. I was on the flight to Columbus OH with him to the Arnold a few weeks ago. In the terminal he was more energetic than anyone you could imagine. He talked with everybody and it was amazing that even younger people recognize the guy. And you could not get the guy to sit still, he is all full of life.

Get there early! I am getting on a flight right now! See you in Boise...
4  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: New Video Series With Charles Glass! on: April 11, 2007, 09:36:00 AM
I even like this new video with Charles Glass, well done, gets right to it and just real training! Charles has the ability to not just tell you what to do but also to explain it so it makes sense. That's what will help you think about what you are doing and do it right.

And he really knows how to train dogs too. Go to my BodyBlog, scroll down and check it out....

The OC is really a great NPC show, lots of high quality competitors, a good crowd and the sponsors go for it too. So lots to do and see. It is in Anaheim.

The competitons at "Muscle Beach" in Venice are on Memorial Day weekend, July 4th and Labor Day. It is free to attend but there is an entry fee to compete. On Memorial Day it can get pretty exciting, the last two years the show was opened with an F16 flyover. Good fun!
6  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: The Greatest Workout EVER with Milos Sarcev in the Koloseum on: April 07, 2007, 07:59:02 AM
I have to agree with Bob C on this for sure. It is experience that makes the difference. I have watched people go though a workout with Milos and the guy really knows what he is doing. I have seen a lot of training variations in my time, a lot of theories, a lot of people doing a lot of different things.

But what I have seen Milos do is smarter and more intense than anything I have ever seen. Milos knows what he is doing. If I lived near the Koloseum Gym I would be working out there everyday to, at the very least, watch what this guy does and take it all in.

By the way, the BodyBuilding.com ad we shot in the bowling alley is running in the magazines now. I first one I have seen is in the new issue of Iron Man. We had a lot of fun shooting this one. And one of the guys is really a great bowler.

That makes two IFBB possible pro level bowlers that I know of.
9  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: JP Fux : Check it out !!!! on: March 30, 2007, 06:52:19 AM
JP has been a trainer in Palm Springs for many years and doing very well. He is certainly not the mass monster he was in his competition days but he is in good condition. And as he walks around it street clothes compared to the average person you can still see that he carries a lot of size. No mistaking him for a skinny wannabe or keyboard lifter.

Last time we spoke he specifically told me that he has no plans or thought about trying to make any kind of "comeback". JP still follows the sport closely and you will find him at some of the competitions and he always makes it to the Olympia.
10  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: 3 more ifbb Athletes defecting. on: March 19, 2007, 08:46:24 PM
The Olympia is not for sale. There was at least 7000 people in the audience without question. The IFBB can afford to lose a few athletes. Not an issue.
11  Getbig Misc Too Board / 2007 IFBB Contests Info & Threads / Re: Will the Arnold be on PPV? on: February 21, 2007, 07:46:45 PM
No PPV.

The whole show will be webcast free on BodyBuilding.com including the mens finals and a look backstage.
12  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: JEANNE PIERE FUX - WHERE IS HE???? on: February 11, 2007, 03:11:43 PM
He was last seen at the Colorado Pro. Could hardly walk from his accident.

JP Fux walks just fine but he does have a slight limp. He still has a lot of upper body size. JP has been a trainer in Palm Springs for some time and has been quite successful. He is an excellent trainer and very committed to his clients. I just spent a couple of hours with him the other day when he did something with myself and a few other guys for BodyBuilding.com that you will seen in the next couple of months.
13  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Branch Warren and Mike Ergas video clip on: February 07, 2007, 07:36:17 AM
I'd suggest updating that page anyway - Devember?

I remember "Devember", I actually took a couple of days off in "Devember". My favorite month....
14  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Bob called Lee's IRONMAN victory a crontroversial win ?? on: February 06, 2007, 10:38:35 AM
See this is where I get to disagree with Bob.

I don't think it was controversial or debatable. I think it was just really close. They each had each other beat at certain points and I was unsure about the call at the show. But I remember going back to my hotel room that night and as I was uploading the photos to BodyBuilding.com taking a really close look. And as I did I could see how Lee came out in the number 1 spot. It gets really subjective when it is that tight and you really have to just defer to the judging. But yes it could have just as easy gone the other way.

17  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Do you guys think the judges will screw Rusty at the Ironman too ? on: February 06, 2007, 06:55:22 AM
I was surprised at the placing for Rusty in that show. I thought he looked really great. In my opinion he should have been much higher. However as I sit here today I do not know what the judges saw then.

What I do know, and this is getting to be a very tired subject, is that Bob won, no question, way out in front. His conditioning, his symmetry, overall, he came in better than everyone else at that show on that day.

I have said this before, if you aren't there, you don't know. It is a whole lot different than sitting on your couch with your computer trying to sound like you know what you are talking about.

Of course not everyone can get out to a show in New York, or the Iron Man or the Arnold. But you can get to your local shows. Do so, you will learn a lot.

And then you can catch the big shows on BodyBuilding.com Smiley

I actually found this pic online when I was preparing for a show last year and kept it for motivation. Very artistic pic of heather.

Mercedes,

That is a great photo!

20  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: CLA on: January 28, 2007, 09:33:34 PM
Real world evidence seems to suggest like 3-6 grams a day....

You are correct I mis-typed.
21  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: CLA on: January 28, 2007, 06:27:08 PM
I am no expert on these things but I do specifically recall reading a real study report on CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). What I basically rememeber (in simple terms) is that it reduces the creation of new fat in the body especially around areas like the abs. It does not reduce your fat but restricts the creation of fat in the body.

However it does take fairly high dosage of 3 - 4 grams per day. I do not believe that there were any significant side effects. Anyway there has been a lot reported on CLA and there is a lot of info on BodyBuilding.com at http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cla.html
22  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Cheap VIP tickets for the Ironman Pro. on: January 28, 2007, 03:32:49 PM
I am also going to try to get to the "Vault" Powerhouse Gym this week if you want to catch up to me there for tickets.

Thanks
23  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Cheap VIP tickets for the Ironman Pro. on: January 28, 2007, 03:19:26 PM
I also have a bunch of the same tickets and will probably be at the Koloseum on Friday, Feb 2. I was just there this last Friday. So if Milos runs out I should have a few left. Just check in with me.

If anyone else needs tickets out my way, I am in Palm Springs, just let me know. And the following weekend, Feb 9 & 10 I will be in Pasadena.

So get em from MadMax or any of us but come to the Iron Man, I always have fun there. One of my favorite shows.

By the way, here is a quick promo we did for the show and these special tickets....

24  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Bodybuilding.com cares!!!!! on: January 27, 2007, 12:10:16 AM
When you get to the checkout page for your order on BodyBuilding.com you get to pick different delivery methods and it shows you the cost. So for example one delivery method for an item that does not weigh very much might be more expensive than that service for let's say 5 lbs of whey powder. Actually the shipping costs are very inexpensive.

And to keep track for myself just how well things work I order products myself just the same as anyone else. And I actually really like it much better than going to some store and finding what I wanted was out of stock or something. And BodyBuilding.com does have good prices.
25  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: MD forums blocking BB.com links? on: January 25, 2007, 06:31:07 PM
Without question at BodyBuilding.com we have the most and best content anywhere, including all of the websites and all of the magazines. You can find the best and most independent information about buying supplements if you want to, and at fair prices with excellent service. And all of that content is free and will stay that way.

And everyday when I am on the phone, e-mailing or messenging with all of the people at BodyBuilding.com, we are talking about new ways of bringing in more and better information and features. We don't talk about how to sell you more. We talk about how to bring you more. I am competely serious about this. I have been associated with great companies and this is one of the best ever.

With that said, the people at MD to a person have been nothing but cordial and considerate to me. I am not here to run their business, their website or their new store. So I will not even criticize any of it. Steve Blechman can certainly run his business without my advice and to be honest, I wish them only the best.

But they or anyone else will never be BodyBuilding.com
