Wes, Haz, figo, stunt... the Peter Grymko stories I could tell! I had dinner with Pete and his wife 4-5 years ago in their home in Apple Valley. Fun, fun time and the guy does not change. I think he cracked out the pot within about 20 minutes of greeting me and my business partner at the door (I didn't partake -stuff messes with me). We were out his way for a meeting so hhe invited us over. He was mentioned in those articles I posted but not by name. It talked about one guy and crazy dosages.
I got a very strong impression that Pete got hit up for every business venture out there and maybe that's what happened between Kieth and Pete.
Pat Hayes had a great build. He trained at Gold's for a while. Another guy I thought had all the right tools to become great was Casey Schneider but he never seemed to make the top placings. I got a few workouts in with Bob Reis. The guy was amazingly strong (at least compared to other guys I trained with).
Anyone remember Marty and Pete Vranicar from the East Coast? I never met them or saw them out here but they had great builds.

WES! What means this ------> I hope Stunt`s paying attention here!
Did I miss something?
Hey, MAX! I was with Ernie that year but can't recall how he placed and who won the wt classes and the overall. Let me know if you can recall.
Ernie did manage to win the Jr USA and the Jr Nationals within the same year if I recall correctly .... and the only other person to do that was Tony Peirson. (Spelling??)
One of those years when the contestants had to sit before the judges to see if they could talk correctly (or something like that), Pete G. arrived at the official hotel (Santa Monica Holiday Inn by the 15 freeway) only to discover that he had to show his membership card (AAU? or NPC?) before he could proceed.
He saw me and asked if I'd run back to the gym and look through his desk and try to find it. Took a while but I did find it and got it back to him just as he was scheduled to show the judges that he in fact could speak good English and eloquently enough to pass the 'test'.
The next year they didn't do that no more.

Shit,I am forced to train on a college campus, tons of kids and blue haired old ladies, and me training my ass off while they stare at me like I`m the one doing all the stupid exercises. Only 2 gyms in town, both on college campus`. They just look at me like I'm crazy. I guess they figured it out.

YES, MAX! I'm very serious, And I'm also honest and loyal and help old ladies get to the other side ..... all those other Boy Scout attributes.
But if you ever decided to challenge me with dates after Columbus landed, I'd have a problem answering honestly.
If I had known about this unknown Bodybuilding X person a short while back, I would have inquired about him because I was in the IronMan studio most of the day and made it a point to meet everyone in the office while waiting for a friend's all day photo session to conclude.
The IronMan staff is a GREAT bunch of people though and may want to keep X's ID secret for some unknown reason.
And I have yet to read that article, but plan to do so this evening.
Well he works out of his house (rumor has it) but he does make it down to the studio for a few hours once a week. He's probably sorry he missed you. When I first moved to LA and Gold's was on 2nd street. Ernie Santiago was in town for the AAU Mr. America in his last week of prep. Guy looked great.

Max, those two interviews with bodybuilder X and the interview by someone named David I believe about Danny Padilla were some of the best things that I have read in Ironman. This is from a Ironman reader for over 30 years.
Someone named David and bodybuilder X would probably thank you if he read your post. I think BB-X is a great writer and needs to pen more stuff for IM !! I’m sure he’d thank you as well Tim. He actually has written about 2 dozen cover interviews with Pro’s and up and coming amateurs, probably about another two dozen articles on nutrition and dozens of supplement advertisements. Rumor has it he has been afflicted with a flavor for Latin women and thus his near brush with death. Still the affliction has a grip on him.

WES, MAX .... I have yet to read that IronMan article but I can most likely find out who Bodybuilder X is or was.
I've known everyone you mentioned, MAX, excluding Bannout for some unknown reason, and I'll do my best to make a phone call or two and ask about this unknown, mysterious stranger.
No guarantees though, but it would give me a chance to renew some old time friendships.
You aren't serious, are you?

Dang Tim I've never seen those shot of Victor Terra... unreal. You asked me about training with Rory, Aranita and the crew. I didn't actually train with Rory as I did with Danny, B. Grant, Samir, Mike and Ray. I'd meet Rory at Gold's once a month, he'd look at my training logs, eating etc and then design my next routine. I did meet Jon, Bob Paris, Matt? (Bob's partner). I may have met Joe (Coach) at the time but can't say for sure. I was also working at a Night Club in Whittier at the time right around the corner from Uptown Gym where Rory trained much of the time. Man I loved those small, dungeon type, old school gyms. That's what Barlow's and Muscle Mill (both in Torrance) were like. I never trained at Astro Gym (where Coach trained) but it was on the way to Dr. Kerr's office... err oops... of course that was just a rumor I heard... yeah that's it... a rumor.

This is kind of trivial, but it meant a lot to me at the time. I`ve always admired the way Bob stuck to his guns and never quit trying for his pro-card even though back in the day,his class was fully loaded with some of the best amatuer bodybuilders ever. I`ve met and talked with Bob on several occasions although we really don`t know each other per se`..................the first time I met him was in 2000 in Pittsburgh at the Masters Nats. He was with Jeremy Freeman and some hot fitness chick who I can`t seem to remember right now..................... ...I asked Bob if I could get a pic of the three of them and he replied,"Why not get in the photo with us". He grabbed a passerby that he knew and we took the pic together. Lots of other pros could have gave a shit, but Bob was cool. Then he embarassed me onstage in Rochester when they fucked up my music!! Just kidding Bob,you`re a great MC and a good guy to boot, plus a helluva` bodybuilder. Tim... that's my experience with Bob as well. He often tries to include people. When I used o go home to Rochester and he was still living there. He always asked me to join him and Larry Baker in a workout and always invited me to get something to eat with the entire crew after a workout. There were often 7-10 gym members walking into the Country Buffet. It meant a lot to me to be included in that.

There's more than enough money in my neighborhood to cover the cost of his IMMEDIATE execution. We don't need californias inept government. besides, in california you're on death row for at least 20 years. tell me how it can be cheaper than $10 bullet or a $100 electric bill.
I'd rather he was stripped to his shorts, chained by his ankles behind a pickup truck and dragged about 5 miles an hour over course gravel for an hour then left to hear the sound of his own whimpering for 24 hours. Then if he lives, repeat the process for 40 days. No food and only salt water to drink. Pour vinegar over his wounds.

How about taking these stupid debates to another thread and give the victims some respect. Another Victim Identified http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/10/seal-beach-shooting-christy-wilson.html Seal Beach shooting: Victim testified for suspect's ex-wife October 13, 2011 | 2:32 pm Friends identified another victim of the Seal Beach shooting rampage as Christy Wilson, a lifelong Lakewood resident and mother of three who worked at the salon. Linda Stewart, 45, a longtime friend who works at a salon in Huntington Beach, said Wilson was creative, energetic and friendly and was part of a close-knit family. She had worked at the salon for many years and was an expert nail artist. In her spare time, she made and sold jewelry. "She was everybody's friend," Stewart said. "She had not one enemy, ever." Wilson was a friend of Michelle Fournier, the ex-wife of alleged shooter Scott Evans Dekraai. Witnesses said Fournier was the target of the shooting and one of the eight who died. KTLA News reported Wilson was in court on Tuesday, testifying at a custody hearing on Fournier's behalf. Her husband, Paul Wilson, said his wife stood up for her friend because she thought it was the right thing to do. On Thursday, Stewart put out a call on her Facebook page for people to give gifts of food to the Wilson family, but within a few hours, she was so overwhelmed by responses that she began asking people to donate to the funeral costs instead. She said she is now considering starting a jewelry line in Wilson's honor, with proceeds to go to assist victims of domestic violence.

Not sure, I haven't seen the clip. Where did you see the list of fatalities? I fear we might know others. I was a coach at Seal Beach Pony for 5 years and know many of the families.
I saw a newscast that just named your client say that she had confirmed her mother Michelle Fast was one of the victims. They said that Randy Fannin, the shop owner was confirmed dead by a family member. They said Seal Beach police have not released names of other victims. I saw yet another report that said named the scumbags ex-wife’s Michelle Fournier Dekraai and said she was believed to be in the shop but they weren’t confirming her status. That’s actually 3 people named but not confirmed dead (including Michelle Fast). It’s hard not to wish a slow-painful torturous death on this POS that lasts 40 days and 40 nights. I've seen the clip I mentioned a few times now on TV newscasts. About prayer... prayer is not that this gets undone... it's that the victims are with the Lord and about healing for friends, family and community. Not preaching -- just my belief. By the way some of us who pray ALSO do, do things that contribute as well.

Thank you for all that prayed, as for the ones who don't but were kind enough to keep your thoughts, thank you and for those who critiize prayer, it helps give the victims families comfort as they were Christians.
I prayed Joe. I was actually on the 405 right near there when the news broke. What was your clients Mom's name? I listened to Tim Conway, Jr. talk about it all night on KFI AM 640. He kept talking about what a great community Seal Beach is because he lived there for 3 years. To the victims Rest in God's Glory.

I lived in or near Torrance, CA for over a decade and never saw a Power House Gym. Is it new? If so, what is the address? I'm sure MaxRep knows as he lives in the area and interviewed Dave a couple of years ago for Iron Man.
Dave Fisher’s Powerhouse Gym 22216 Palos Verdes Boulevard Torrance, CA 90505-2017 (424) 206-1596 Pellius I just started training there although I’ve visited several times and wrote about in my blog on Iron Man. Mike Neveux has been doing a lot of photo shoots there for Iron Man. It’s on the corner of Palos Verdes Blvd. and Sepulveda in the same plaza where Texas Lucy’s is located. Dave has a great gym about the same size facility as Barlow’s/Kasey’s Gym was. He’s got a good client atmosphere and top-notch equipment. He just got a call from Tom Platz today (I’ve run into Tom in the neighborhood a few times). Looks like Tom is going to be coming into Dave’s for a workout. The place is about to rev into high gear! Yes, the gym just celebrated the one-year anniversary.
