2  Getbig Misc Too Board / 2009 NPC Contests Info, Competitors & Discussion / 2008 NPC Heartland Natural Classic on: December 30, 2007, 07:29:09 AM
Entry forms and ticket order forms are now available at the NPC Heartland Natural Classic website (www.npchnc.com).  This show will be held on April 5, 2008 in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.

We have a lot of exciting things planned for this show which will make it very unique from your average show. After working on it for the last six months we have finally worked out the details to showcase some acts during our evening show from Circus Juventas, a circus troupe training school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Circus Juventas will bring an awe inspiring entertainment segment to our show and provide the ultimate in excitement. Check out their website at: www.circusjuventas.org In addition, we have IFBB Pro Derik "The Freak" Farnsworth as our featured guest poser.

We are also working on a couple of more exciting ideas which will blow your mind. This is a show you won't want to miss!

For the competitors we have also pulled out all the stops and will be awarding large Barbarian sword trophies to the top five athletes in each bodybuilding class. The first place trophy is 51" long and 2nd-5th places are 43" long. These are awesome trophies and will look great in your trophy case. We will offer Novice and Open classes plus teen and masters divisions.

Fitness and Figure competitors will be awarded custom engraved picture frames with their picture in it!

We are also giving out some speciality awards, such as best poser (male and female), most muscular, best legs, and best gym team award.

This is a drug free show. ALL competitors will be polygraphed before stepping on stage.

We also have secured a great host hotel (Marriott West Minneapolis) located about 2 miles from the venue site and they will be providing FREE shuttle service between the hotel and show for both prejudging and finals. The hotel restaurant (Kips) will also be staying open late to host the after party and satisfy the hunger and thirst of the competitors and their families.

If you have any questions, check out our website or email us at: info@npchnc.com

3  Getbig Misc Too Board / 2007 NPC Contest Info & Threads / Re: 2008 NPC Heartland Natural Classic on: November 09, 2007, 08:18:21 PM
When we first started organizing the NPC Heartland Natural Classic we decided it would just be a Team Universe qualifier for bodybuilding and a National Qualifier for fitness and figure. However, since then we have had several inquiries asking if our show was a National Qualifier for bodybuilding too.

Since our ambition is to provide only the best opportunities for our competing athletes we have decided to upgrade our show to full "National Qualifier" status. Now all bodybuilders, fitness, and figure athletes will be eligible to compete in all NPC National level events.

In bodybuilding, the first and second place athletes are eligible to compete at the NPC Jr USA, Jr Nationals, USA, and Nationals within their two year eligibility window. All bodybuilding athletes are eligible to compete in the Team Universe and the Teen, Collegiate, and Masters Nationals no matter of placing.

In Fitness and Figure, the top three in each class from this competition will be eligible to compete at the USA, and Nationals. The top five are eligible to compete at the Team Universe, Jr USA, Jr Nationals, and North Americans within the two year eligibility window.

If you have any questions concerning these qualifications please contact us, or your local NPC chairperson or Athlete Representative.

5  Getbig Misc Too Board / 2007 NPC Contest Info & Threads / 2008 NPC Heartland Natural Classic on: April 01, 2007, 09:12:40 AM
Even though I retired from the competitive bodybuilding stage after last years shows I wanted to stay involved in the sport that changed my life. I had accomplished more during my career than I would have ever had imagined and wanted to see others to share that same sense of accomplishment and pride. In the local area I help bodybuilders with their posing techniques and help a select few with their contest prep. I am also a judge at the local NPC level and enjoy seeing others shine on stage.

However, I have always wanted to promote my own bodybuilding, fitness, and figure show and make it "the show" to do! Recently, my wife and I submitted a proposal to the local Minnesota NPC committee for a new Natural Bodybuilding show in our area.

We received the offical confirmation that our proposal was accepted a month ago and we begin the planning process to promote this show in the spring of 2008. We wanted a whole year to produce this event because we have a lot of ideas we want to incorporate into the show. An overview of our proposal included the following ideas:

Promoting NPC Natural Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Competitions.
The growth of natural bodybuilding competitions is growing at a fast rate within the United States and is attracting athletes, who wish to compete drug free, to other bodybuilding federations. It is our intention to limit this exodus and improve the opportunity for natural athletes to be recognized and rewarded for their efforts within the NPC organization.

Give New Athletes an Opportunity to Compete.
Some athletes may be intimidated to step on stage with seasoned veterans. If we want to expand our sport we must attempt to attract new athletes. We are proposing to offer a Novice Class which would only be open to first time competitors and to those who have not placed 1st or 2nd in their weight classes in previous competitions. Novice Class competitors would also be allowed to compete in the Open Class competition if they so desire.

Competitors Come First.
It is our intent that the athletes who will compete in this show will be provided the best treatment and facilities to showcase their physiques. From backstage assistance to photographs of them on stage, everyone will be treated like royalty. A positive experience will garner repeat competitors.

Attract More Competitors, Audience Members, and Sponsors.
If our ambitions succeed we are confident that we can expand the number of competitors seeking to compete in this natural show each year. It is also our goal to expand the audience base beyond just friends and families of competitors in attendance. Major sponsorships will be solicited and their involvement with the sport of natural bodybuilding will equally be rewarded and recognized.

Provide an Entertaining Show.
While guest posers may draw some fans to a show, often times their routines or conditioning leaves something to be desired. While we may still showcase Regional and National level natural athletes as guest posers we are also hoping to provide other types of attractions to entertain the audience throughout the evening.

Expand the Reach of the Show.
We are looking to attract athletes from throughout the Midwest region. We have not yet settled on a name for the show but are considering the "NPC Heartland Natural Classic" because it represents the core of our desire to attract the best natural athletes from throughout the heartland of the United States.

Create a Show Website.
This website would help showcase our natural athletes, promote our sponsors, and be an avenue to attract new competitors, audience members, and sponsors to our event.

Date of Show.
We are proposing to hold this show annually on, or around, the 2nd weekend of April. The Gopher State show, which is normally held in this time slot, is planning to move to a June date in 2008 and our show will now become the first NPC show in Minnesota every year. Our scheduled show debut is April 12, 2008.

While we have many details to finalize we are excited to begin this venture to promote NPC bodybuilding. Everyone's input is welcome to help make this show a marquee event for the NPC Midwest region.

Besided the local input we are soliciting I am also reaching out to all of the people on the getbig forums for their ideas and suggestions. If you have competed at a show or have been an audience member I'm sure you've had good and bad experiences. Please share them with us. By providing everyone involved with a positive experience we hope to grow the sport of NPC natural bodybuilding to new heights.

Wish us luck!

6  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Watched RUSTY JEFFERS CD: How to Pose Like a Pro! Good stuff. on: February 03, 2007, 03:42:52 PM
Rusty has always been one of the best posers in the business and didn't realize he had a posing DVD out!

Good posing is truly an art and can turn a smaller mediorce bodybuilder into a giant killer.

7  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Opinions on Max-OT on: January 28, 2007, 03:11:48 PM
I used the Max-OT "philosphy" in the past, just not the exact program... I found it worked extremely well although since then I have modified it somewhat.  The heavy loads can be extremely tough on those of us with "old" joints, plus after doing more research I've found that some muscle groups actually can also respond well (i.e. get bigger) with some higher rep work thrown into your workouts.

I now include basic heavy weight/low rep schemes in combination with moderate weight/high rep workouts to be sure to hit all of the muscle fibers.  It's worked for me!

Well at least you've done the first step... you have a goal!  Use it.  Let next year's show be the carrot on the stick and every time you think about cheating on your diet or not training think about what your competition is doing.... are they cheating and not training?  Nope.  They are hitting and hard and staying on the straight and narrow.  If you don't do the same you'll never beat them.  Or....

Put a picture of past winners or guys that placed second last year (they'll be back) on your fridge as a reminder of what you have to beat.

Vince, If you're the Head Nutritionist In Charge how come you're hiring someone and paying them $2000 to help you with your diet?  I thought you knew what you were doing?

I came in at that show around 195 pounds so once I control the final week prep conditioning,

Vince, Vince, Vince.....

You have to control more than the final week prep conditioning to come in any type of decent shape... try an extra 8 weeks of dieting minimum to the 8 or 12 you claimed to have done for this last show.  I did 18 weeks for my last show which I felt was quite long enough for myself... in the past I have done 20 to 26 weeks of dieting.  Why do you think you need less?  Take a close look at your pics and honestly evaluate your conditioning.  Don't tell me you don't need more.

Please drop the last week excuse.

Yes, I'll definitely get help next time around from Dr Joe or someone who specializes in natural bodybuilding.  I trained twice a day  6 days a week for 8 weeks for this show, practiced posing, and dieted pretty hard.  However, looking good is one thing but a person who looks great onstage will make you look like crap.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the time off, get patched up and keep training until next time

You only dieted 8 weeks for this show?? What the hell are you thinking?  Especially if you're natural you're going to need a lot more time than that to even try and achieve coming in decent shape or conditioning.  Heck, even the pros with their medicene chest diet longer than that!  And please don't tell me that you're lean year around so you don't have to diet much.

Looking good Dave!  what weight class will you be in?  Besides myself, there are several others from Minnesota who will be competing in the Masters.  I'll be in the welterweight class (in the over 40) and the middleweight class in the over 50.  My friend Mark Anderson will be a heavy weight in the over 40 class and usually has the most freakiest hardness you'll ever see on anyone and stirations in his glutes that will hold silver dollars.  My leg training partner Brian Thompson will probably compete as a middlweight in the over 40.

Looking forward to a great show and meeting others from the boards while I'm there!

ME.

I "hope" to get my Pro Card at the Masters Nationals.... either in the Over 50 class or one of the two cards being given in the Over 40 class.  I'll be doing both classes which should double (or triple) my chances.... all I have to do is win my weight class.

I've done it before, I just have to do it again.... of course you never know who is going to show up.
