EMERGENCY MEETING Defeat the Proposed Chest/Abdomen Rule
Members of the bodybuilding world are banding together to defeat the proposed rule to require pro bodybuilders to pass a chest/abdomen ratio test: Unfair to athletes with genetically blocky physiques Does not recognize reality of today's enhancement techniques Fans should be the ones to judge Protect athlete freedom of choice.
Sign up for the following workshops.
WORKSHOP 1: "HOLDING IT IN" Prevent protrusion during relaxed poses and while walking on and off stage Hide extensions from the side when facing backwards on stage Simulate a vacuum type pose (as much as possible) Place arms strategically in front of abdomen to conceal protrusions Avoid side poses which show direct bulging.
WORKSHOP 2: PRO BODYBUILDER COMPETITION RESTRAINT BANDS Status of experimentation on this practical stragey for future COMPLETELY INVISIBLE MATERIAL on new abdominal restraint girdles Squeezing inside for a leaner look (guest posing by pros with large mid-sections for workshop participants) The 30-inch waist is still possible with proper restraint support Tips for flexing and posing while bound up on stage

Agree they actually look less muscular. Pecs fade away and thighs have to compete with a thick waist. Some guys succeed in holding it in on stage most of the time, but then a photographer captures them in one or two off moments and the whole illusion is destroyed. Arnold Classic was VERY embarrassing. No doubt about it. This year worse than ever.

ARNOLD QUESTIONS IFBB JUDGES ABOUT GUT MANDATORIES
Arnold: You must get rid of those mandatories. My reputation as a leader in the sport is at stake. No more of those mandatory poses. In fact, we need to establish a formal chest/abdomen ratio. No professional bodybuilder who exceeds the ratio will be allowed to compete in the Arnold or the Olympia.
Head IFBB judge: Then you risk having no competitors. Or, do you want your show to look like a local bodybuilding contest or a men's physique lineup? With all respect, fans don't really care about this issue. Gut bulk is accepted by most fans. If that's the price to pay for ever more massive chests, thighs, backs, and shoulders - then so be it.
Veteran IFBB judge (weirdo): Gut bulk is actually popular with some fans. Haven't you heard them screaming during the gut mandatories? I've been judging these shows for over 35 years. I never lifted a weight in my life but I know what the fans want. Our boys are pushing themselves to further and further extremes for our excitement and pleasure. They deserve rewards, not slaps on the hand.
Head guru liaison and loudmouth guru spokesperson: My fellow gurus and I have built our reputations on today's regimens. Run-of-the-mill steroids are only part of the story. It's growth and insulin that have given us the breakthrough to build the giants we are building. Top that off with pockets of oil that we administer throughout their physiques. And frequent meals we force-feed into the bodybuilders, some of them don't eat enough. Don't you appreciate our role in creating these monsters?
Arnold: But your monsters are dropping like flies, George. And tell me what they will look like fifteen years from now. Will they walk on stage wearing giant girdles? I need to think this over. I've faced bigger challenges than this. I'll figure out some solutions.
Veteran IFBB judge (aside to George): I can't tell you how grateful a number of us are for you and your fellow men of science. You can rest assured that there will be plenty of funding for the boys to do what you tell them to do.
Arnold (to himself): This will be a near impossible job. And I know I will need to compromise. But I know the game, and if there is anybody who can do it, it's me.

I just looked at Arnold 2013 men's bodybuilding photos. It may not be as obvious in a contest lineup, but if you enlarge the photos (which I can do with my iPad) it's mind boggling just how swollen the guts are. This includes the winner. For a lot of younger fans who don't remember the classical bodybuilding era, this is the new normal. I've actually heard some people admit they like the roidgut look, and this might be the case with some of the judges. At a minimum, they don't hold the guts against the competitors. If this is the case, I don't think we have a chance of rediscovering a classical look with vacuum (remember that expression) any time soon.

I am not sure we know exactly what the founders had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment. They MAY WELL well have had hunting and defense against common criminals in mind. This seems quite likely given the patterns of life of those times. They certainly had the common man's defense against tyranny in mind. I grant that we need some legislation to control assault type weapons, which would not appear to be necessary for any of these purposes. But to think that we will solve the violence problem in our culture with gun legislation is kind of ridiculous. In the twenties we had legislation on the books to solve our "alchohol problem". That didn't do much good. Now we have legislation to solve the problem of excessive drug use. Would anybody argue that we have curbed drug use to our satisfaction through this legislation? Unfortunately the same would go for gun legislation. The worst gun violence is in places where a bias toward "gun control" is strongest (e.g., Chicago). Don't get me wrong - there is gun legislation I support (as long as Second Amendment is kept in mind) but this certainly will not be a cure-all. The issues run much deeper.

First I saw pics of Ronnie guest posing with shorts and tank top on and I thought he looked good. But when he got down to posing trunks, not a pleasing look at all. One thing that hits me is that these guys should be retiring sooner than they do. For example, Jay should defintely have retired already. He risks lookng like Ronnie in a few years, and Dexter should stop soon. Dexter looks phenomenal right now, and it's a tribute to him that he still looks this great after that many years of competing. Why not retire on a high note and stay on that high note in the future. Maybe guest pose in a year or two looking a little leaner but with pleasing physique. The sport is just not made for super-long stretches at the top with all that goes along with it, and I wonder if it is really worth it if you look like a bucket of distended muscle bellies a few years later? Maybe it is worth it - the money and everyone has their own priorities. But as a fan I wish they knew when a good thing risks going downhill.
