I've got to believe this was Taker's choice. Vince okayed it.

I sincerely hope so, otherwise this was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen from them.  What reason is there to give it to Brock?  Just to shock the audience?  To get it trending on frigging Twatter?  It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this was done to spike the social media ratings and get people to buy the Network so that they can watch the fallout tomorrow night.
3  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: THIS IS LAME!!! LESNAR BREAKS THE STREAK!!! on: April 06, 2014, 08:55:50 PM
Absolute bullshit, Lesnar didn't deserve this in the slightest, I can't believe they let part-time Brock take the streak.  Up until then it had been a solid WM as well, but this killed the whole show for me.
4  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Wrestlemania Predictions?? on: April 05, 2014, 07:49:48 PM
Tag Titles - USO's retain, and the Real American's split up due to the loss, leaving Cesaro free for a singles push.

Battle Royal - Big Show, just seems fitting to have him win this.

Shield vs Kane - Shield I suppose?  I can see a Shield split on the horizon, so losing at WM could be the trigger for this maybe?  But they've put in solid work all year, so deserve to get a WM win.

Diva's match - I honestly couldn't care less about this.  Unless someone ends up naked (except Vickie), I'll be doing something else for the duration.

Cena vs Wyatt - I'm finding it hard to consider Cena losing at 'the grandest stage of them all', so my head goes with Cena and the good guy schtick.  It'd be nice to have Wyatt take the win, but I can't see them allowing poster boy to lose to the redneck crazies at their biggest PPV.

Undertaker vs Brock - Taker, all day long.  Brock doesn't deserve to end the streak.  An appearance by Sting would be a nice bonus...

HHH vs Bryan - I HOPE that Bryan gets the win here, anything else would be HHH simply serving his ego for no other reason than putting himself in the spotlight at the big one.  I'd quite like someone to interfere here, maybe Vince, or CM Punk, or Austin, or a returning Shane McMahon, anyone just to screw HHH over.

Orton vs Batista vs Bryan - Daniel Bryan gives them both a lesson in how it's done, and takes the win, cleanly.  No interference, no help, he wins by himself and takes the accolades he deserves.  Crowd goes home happy.
5  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: stone cold vs. cm punk on: April 05, 2014, 07:38:19 PM
I'd love to see Austin back in the ring, especially against Punk, but I think there's more chance of Shane O'Mac returning and defeating the Streak...

Austin in any way, shape or form would be a massive plus to any PPV/show, and something I'd like to see.  I've never understood why we never see him any more, when Rock / Brock / Piper / Foley / Jericho / etc, are making appearances, some regular, some not so much.  We've even had Edge back a couple of times since his retirement.
6  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: What if Daniel Bryan doesn't win the Title at WM on: March 20, 2014, 07:41:21 PM
My main worry is that HHH decides he wants the WM30 spotlight and puts himself into the match with Orton/Batista, as a hark back to the Evolution days.

By 1942/3 Lend-Lease with the U.S. meant that almost all of Russia's troops were being ferried around in Studebakers and Abrams tanks.

I think you mean Shermans, the Abrams wasn't brought into service until the early 80's.
8  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Does Brock End "The Streak"? on: February 26, 2014, 07:22:25 PM
Orton vs Batista will be a completely flat end to the show, so I'd expect them to finish with Taker/Brock.

I'm still curious whether there'll be any surprises though.  With Warrior being inducted into the HoF, it would make sense to feature him in some way at WM.  Maybe even recreate his run-in return to save Hogan all those years ago.  Let Hogan return the favour maybe?
9  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Hogan returns to WWE on: February 25, 2014, 08:17:44 PM
He looked and sounded rough, messed his words a couple of times, and went through the usual schtick.  Even his 'I'm glad to be home' bit sounded scripted.  If he's so happy to be back, why not let him talk as himself instead?
10  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Does Brock End "The Streak"? on: February 25, 2014, 08:15:02 PM
Whenever his last match comes (at WM obviously), he should do his celebration bit and then the lights go out.  One lightning strike on the teletron and when the lights come back on, he's gone.  I don't think he should break character or do a retirement speech, just finish it in the same style as his career.

And Brock isn't ending the streak.
11  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: breaking news on: February 20, 2014, 06:29:02 PM
I loathe the team, of course, but isn't Man U owned by Yanks?

Yeah, the Glazers, but they've not put much money into the club for quite a few years and the team has suffered.  Ferguson had managed them for 20+ years, and when he retired last summer, he left a team which had been over performing massively.  The new manager couldn't get the same out of them, and they were struggling to make a top 4 finish this season.  The owners did plough some cash in during January, but it might not be enough to get them Champions League football next season.

As a group of owners, they've done OK, but not great.  Same with Randy Lerner who owned Villa, they just paid huge transfers and wages, resulting in the club being massively overstretched.  They've had to sell almost the entire team and rebuild with younger cheaper talent instead.

Currently, the most successful US-owned club would be Liverpool, who have slowly built a team by investing wisely, and are on course to do very well this season.
12  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: breaking news on: February 19, 2014, 06:57:29 PM
I would love to see this if it's true, Newcastle are my team's biggest local rivals.  Their club is already teetering close to being a shambles, and Vince coming in would probably tip them over the edge.  He knows nothing about football, and not many US investors have done well with football teams in the UK.  Fenway are doing OK with Liverpool, but that's about it.
13  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Wade Barrett.m on: February 04, 2014, 05:03:50 PM
Very talented guy, and being wasted at the moment.  This Bad News gimmick is pointless, he's just waffling nonsense each week.  At least let him get a little more edgy with what he's saying.  He had a perfect opportunity last night after the Super Bowl, where he could have slagged off the NFL and told everyone that soccer is the biggest sport in the world, but they missed it.  If they want him to be a proper heel, then he needs to follow Regal (and every other foreigner in history) and tell everyone why his country/culture/history is better than theirs.  That'll generate him some realy heat and make people hate him.  Currently he's just boring.
14  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Breakout star of 2014 on: February 04, 2014, 04:59:56 PM
I'm not as high on Reigns as everybody. Sure, he has a look and athletic ability but his mic skills could hold him back as a singles  face. As a singles heel, he'd make a good Heyman guy.

I'm not sure if he's been given chance to really show what he can do with a mic, as they've let Ambrose do most of the talking so far.  Granted, he could be awful, but I'd be interested to see how he does given a proper opportunity.
15  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Murican football vs Soccer on: February 04, 2014, 04:55:17 PM
It's always funny how these threads come up and all the US posters start slagging soccer football off.  I get why, American Football is your sport of choice and the Superbowl got a massive amount of viewers the other night.  I actually really admire the way the US does sport, with huge amounts of attention paid to all levels, not just the top tier as with other sports in the rest of the world.

Both sports require skill and talent, and both can appear confusing or boring to a non-fan.  I get the gist of American Football, but the constant flags and whistles often seem to happen for no reason.  The same could be said for football though I suppose.  Is a 0-0 football draw any more boring than an NFL game halting play every 30 seconds for the players to rest and choose the next play?

However, in an argument about which is best, there are simple facts that can't be argued with.

Football - Most played game on the planet, being the No. 1 viewed sport in the majority of countries, and the national sport of dozens.  The World Cup is also the most viewed sporting event in history.  More accessible, in that all you need is a ball and something resembling a goal.  You can even play it by yourself if you like, practicing shooting or close-control skills.

American Football - Only played seriously in America, with 99% of the rest of the world not paying it any attention, aside from watching the Super Bowl each year (as I do myself).

So, there it is.  Flame away.   Grin
16  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Breakout star of 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 02:53:11 PM
Reigns is potentially the best prospect right now.

Wyatt has impressed me so far, as I didn't believe the gimmick would work at first.  I still think they need something adding to really make them click, but they're on the right road.  The problem is that it's completely a one-man show, the other two 'brothers' have nothing about them other than size.

Cesaro is talented, but I agree with the others that he's lacking in charisma.

The one I can't agree with is Ambrose.  He just seems to be trying too hard with his character, so he comes across as cartoonish and exaggerated.  If he could tone it down a little, I think it would be better.  Rollins is OK, and they'll flip him face when the Shield breaks up, but he's going to be another Kofi Kingston type guy, good athletic ability, but he's got nothing other than that as far as I've seen so far.  Reigns is the one to watch, big guy, strong, aggressive with a good look.  He's got a decent bloodline behind him as well, which can't hurt!
17  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Royal Rumble 2014 results. .. on: January 27, 2014, 08:31:51 PM
The whole thing was a like a big HHH Reunion.  The Outlaws won the Tag Titles on the pre-show, Nash appears in the Rumble, and his mate Batista wins the thing.  They even had Flair and HBK up in that 'Analysis Box' thing, and his training partner Sheamus makes his comeback and takes 3rd place!

It wouldn't surprise me if Xpac was working in one of the merch stands in the concourse...
18  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Wrestlemanis Sad State on: January 18, 2014, 05:57:11 PM
I agree that it's all about the old names these days.  Last years main events were Rock vs Cena, Brock vs HHH, and Taker vs Punk.  Only 2 guys out of 6 who we see week in / week out.

The really annoying thing is that they always put these guys against each other.  Taker vs Punk is OK, gives Punk a nice reward for the work he puts in, but why go to the cost of bringing Brock back and then stick him in with HHH?  All that expense and HHH uses it to put himself over again.

Brock seems happy to lose, so why not put him in with Daniel Bryan for instance?  Bryan's got the talent to work a good match against Brocks style, and it would push him to a new level if he gets the win.  You could have a proper David vs Goliath build over several months, really get the crowd behind him, and the place would go crazy when he pins Lesnar.

Maybe they got burned when Cena went up against Miz in the main event a couple of years ago?  That wasn't a good match at all, so maybe they're wary of putting unproven guys in that spotlight?  Saying that, HHH vs Orton a few years back wasn't great either.

How much does Mania cost to watch, now?

14.95 in the UK, so about $24?  Not sure what it costs in the States.

I do want to see the segment with Piper and his heir apparent Dean Ambrose.

I can't stand Ambrose.  He's trying too hard to play the on-the-edge, slightly unhinged character, and it's not convincing at all.
20  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: New Year's Day And May Be Going To Jail Tonight!!!! on: January 01, 2014, 06:21:27 PM
If we believe that this actually happened, two questions:

1.  How did he 'get word' back to you that he wants to fight?  Did you guys exchange numbers or something?

2.  Why, when you know where he is and what he did, wouldn't you simply phone the cops and tell them where to find him?

Bonus question:

3.  He already pulled a knife on you once, why would you be stupid enough to believe that he's going to turn up for a fair fight?
21  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ever measured your IQ? on: December 15, 2013, 01:30:46 PM
At 70 you'd be borderline retarded and I doubt you'd be a good family provider.

I'm not sure if they'd be borderline retarded, but the point stands.  As long as you're working and providing for your family, does it matter if you're not the sharpest tool in the box?

Funny that a lot of self proclaimed geniuses are downplaying the importance of intelligence when it's in fact one of the single most important charactaristics for success, academic and other types. Self discipline may trump intelligence in a lot of situations but being intelligent doesn't make you a lazy wanker or socially inept person by default - as a lot of people seem to believe...

It is, but I'll bet there are a lot more rich and successful average IQ people than intelligent ones (largely due to the music industry and sports!)  Some people have a good grasp of business, without any other natural academic flair, and are able to make a good living for themselves.  Builders don't tend to be geniuses, but I don't think I've ever met one who was short on money.  Being intelligent doesn't equate to being successful, there are too many other factors at play.  I run my own company, but I wouldn't class myself as being successful, not yet anyway.  Maybe one day I will be, but there's a lot of time and effort that needs to go into it first, nothing to do with intelligence.

An intelligent man would have an easier time developing "street smarts" or finding ways to socialize compared to someone with a lesser intellect. With that said, being intelligent may however lead you to make choices in life that limits your exposure to situations where you have an opportunity to develop street smarts or some types of social skills.

Only to a certain level.  I still believe that anything over 150 IQ leads to almost being on a different plane to everyone else, and they find it hard to join in with social settings.  They can maybe teach themselves how to do so over time, but it's still very automated and not natural.
22  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ever measured your IQ? on: December 15, 2013, 01:50:26 AM
A couple of friends convinced me to apply for Mensa about 10 years ago.  I got 146 on the test, joined up for a couple of years and then let my membership expire because all you get for it is a quarterly (?) magazine and a pin badge...  Huh

It's nice to be able to say you've got a high IQ, but it means nothing in the real world.  People with super high IQ's (150-160+) are generally very awkward socially and don't have a high level of everyday knowledge or 'street smarts' for want of a better phrase.

You could have an IQ of 70, but as long as you're providing for yourself and your family, then it doesn't really matter.
23  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Question for God believers on: December 02, 2013, 10:02:06 PM
Religion is basically the same as sports.  Everyone has their favourite team, and they believe that their team is the best one.  Each team has a bunch of fans who are loud and angry and are not good people.  Similarly, every team has good, honest people, who want to enjoy the game and get along with the other fans.

At the end of the day, as long as you enjoy going to the game, and it makes you a happy person who enjoys their life, then it doesn't really matter what others think.  Some people need to support their team, or have other fans around them, to make them feel more secure in life.  Others need the teams idealogy to follow, to keep them on the right path.  It's all the same.

The hard part comes when you die, and you realise that it wasn't real.  But by then you're dead, so it's doesn't make one bit of difference to you, because believing throughout your whole life has brought you happiness or peace.  And the people who didn't believe won't know either, not until they're also dead.  And everyone can continue arguing in the big black void of nothingness.

And that's that.

I shall tell you of William Wallace.

Historians from England will say I am a liar, but history is written by those who have hanged heroes.

And then re-written by Hollywood...  Sad

How many people think William Wallace was a hairy arsed barbarian with blue warpaint and a kilt, just because they watched 'Braveheart'?  Or think that it was the US who found the Enigma machine because they watched 'U-571'?
