Gave up veganism after 2 1/2 years beginning of this year. Started after seeing "Earthlings" because of ethics. I did study veganism in great detail, got all the important books, checked out the right websites etc ... However, after 2 1/2 years joint pain/inflammation increased and I was bloated as if I was 6 months pregnant. Also, slowly accumulated quite a bit of fat over the 2 1/2 years.

Giving up was a difficult step because I still don't like how the animals are being treated. I still feel guilty seeing trucks full of animals on the motorway going on their last ride.

I switched to the eating primal

Best decision. I have never looked or felt better. I source my meat and eggs from local producers who treat the animals well. Costs me more but is well worth it. Still eat a good amount of plant food as well.

It seems there are people who thrive on a vegan/vegetarian diet, are strong and lean. Some certainly accumulated their mass and strength before switching. Others were able to achieve great performances afterwards. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me. I was doing well for sometime but then suddenly things fell apart. Guess we all react differently to certain foods.

Great summary but is it any different on gear. Im on lil test and mast. Ive read half way through it.

When using gear you should consult with no one.

From what I remember you can get away with much less cals (1000 or so) and heavier or more training.

ok here goes.

150-200g protein.
30g carbs, do no more.
30-50gramms fats.

if you eat 1 or 5 times a day doesnt matter, distribute the meals to your liking but consider the following.

the more starved you are before hitting the gym ,the better.

the longer you wait after gym with eating,the better.

no breakfast, no breakfast.have the biggest meal before going to sleep, but no breakfast this is important, but have no time now to lay out why and what.

allow yourself a cheat meal of any thing,no restrictions, anting you like,but only once a snacks inbetween on diet days,and hellno to sodas, cept diet coke thats ok.

make sure youre starving before that cheat meal, make sure to not eat after that cheat meal until youre extremly hungry again, then you return to the diet foods.

make sure that the cheat meal doesnt break your maintenance calorie barrier on that day.

this means, roughly 1500-2000cals from cheat meal for that meal.but nothing else on that day if youll have 2000shit calories.

and yes,the cheat meal mst be in one meal, not spread out through the day.dont spreaditout through theday.

and never,ever eat if not hungry.dont do that.

forgetany booze,no alc or this is kinda pointless.

dont train too much as natty,have days off, not too many sets, train hard,not necesarily heavy.

Indeed I was!

There are a lot of Getbig members with valuable knowledge. It would be nice to have it collected in one thread.

I do come here for entertainment and am rarely disappointed but at the end of the day I am also here to learn whatever I can to improve my physique.

I also recommend "Muscle, Smoke and Mirrors Vol. 1". Goes into the dietary habits of the old-timers. Very interesting read.

I train one body part a day, 4 exercises, 16 sets, reps between 6-12..just incorporated ab training post cardio for the comp training.

Specialized is overpriced as hell though, rather go Santa Cruz or similar for that sum.

Could be. I didn't research it any further.

However, the recommendations came independently from two experienced riders.

Lysine: The Limiting Amino Acid in Vegan Diets

Before getting into a somewhat technical discussion about the protein needs of vegans, let's just cut to the chase - the RDA for lysine is more important than for protein. If you meet lysine requirements on a vegan diet, you will most likely meet protein requirements.

Per serving, legumes and seitan are the foods highest in the amino acid lysine. Tofu, tempeh, soy meats, lentils, and seitan are the highest, followed by other legume foods. Quinoa, pistachios, and pumpkin seeds are also decent sources of lysine.

It is very hard to design a vegan diet that meets lysine requirements for a person who does not exercise daily without including legumes, seitan, quinoa, pistachios, or pumpkin seeds without having too many calories. It is much easier to do for regular exercisers whose calorie requirements are higher - the low lysine foods will add up to provide enough. While many vegan, raw foodist athletes appear to thrive on the diet many raw foodist non-athletes struggle with raw diets; it might be the case that part of this is due to the athletes eating more calories and thus meeting lysine needs with low lysine foods.
