1  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Would a prime Tyson dominate the Heavyweight Division Today? on: August 19, 2013, 07:25:50 PM
Vitali Klitchko (the older brother for the uninformed) would beat any version of Tyson like a mule.  So no, he most certainly wouldn't dominate today.

totally agree. Klitchko, Lewis, and all the other taller champs would have beaten him like a mule. Tyson was extremely overrated, and got the shit beat out of him by Buster Douglas. No way Tyson dominates any era.

I thought Inglewood was all black and any whiteys would get shot (except for me 'cos African-Americans are obsessed with my accent and it confuses them)

Inglewood has changed. It ain't that bad any more. Lots of latino immigrants set up shop and pushed out the african-americans. Some people questioning if tbombz really moved there, but it's not a horrible place any more and is really close to some gay-friendly places. I'm pretty sure rent is still insanely cheap, though, because of the stigma.

My first job was working in a funeral home, by far this was the most enjoyable job I ever did.

I quit because they wouldnt hire me full time

also pay was hourly wage and shitty

but

what if I try to make my own funeral business

possible or yet another anabolichalo pipe dream?

p.s.
i lifted some real heavy people back then (bb related)

Had a friend who tried it. Can be very lucrative if you can make it in, but it's a pretty saturated market. He ended up losing it all.
4  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Chiropractors more harm than good? on: May 24, 2013, 10:44:52 PM
I treat cancer patients every day. Have done so for the last 10 years.

When a patient comes to see me with hepatocellular carcinoma or cholangiocarcinoma, what should I tell them next time....don't opt for the surgery, just go see Dr. Tom at the mall pushing his giant mock up model of the lumbar spine up and down the mall and he'll crack your back and get you on that keto diet so fast your liver won't know what hit it.

In my opinion, chiropractic has it's role just like like sports medicine, treat minor injuries and nagging musculoskeletal problems like tendonitis and back pain. Leave cancer and other serious diseases to real doctors.

How about you damn med oncs start sending your HCCAs to me for RT instead of trying all these second and third line TKIs?!
5  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Chiropractors more harm than good? on: May 23, 2013, 08:52:54 PM

You're a good poster! but this chart is a little misleading. My guess is it's just taking into account the first two years of med school vs. chiro school. This wouldn't take into account the 5 or 6 years of residency that an orthopod or any other specialist would do and all of additional classroom time and mentored practical experience that would come from that.

Is there a video of said punch?

I still find it remarkable that a 17-year old punches a man once and he manages to slip into a coma, followed by death.

I wonder if there was more going on with the ref. Maybe he had an cerebral aneurysm that ruptured upon receiving the blow to the head?

I don't want to chalk it up to a 17-year old's killer punch...

Is there more to this G?

"1"

If you get hit in just the the right place (near the temple where there is a very thin bone covering an important blood vessel), a punch could cause an epidural hematoma and do a guy in just like this.

I don't know the numbers, but the medical field is supposedly seeing an alarming rate of throat and mouth cancer in women that is apparently linked to HPV...
Maybe someone in the medical field on here can speak on it.

Yep, tons of throat cancers in men and women who have never smoked. Usually very curable, however.
8  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: ER Pic of the dead Russian Boston bomber..... on: April 20, 2013, 12:55:12 AM

My wife is a RN and I am a first responder and this pic doesn't make any sense to us. First off the IV access is from the er not from an ems provider. the small sticky things attached to his body are ecg monitoring aids. Where's the aed pads if they attempted to do cpr on him. There's no way they did cpr on him. His eyes are still open, someone should have closed them. Why do they have a pic of him? That's a huge HIPPA violation. Who ever in the medical feild took this pic they should have their liscense revoked. A family member wouldn't have taken that pic. This man if he is the real man they say he is was killed at MIT, he has several bullet wounds. He died at the scene and he should have never went to the hospital he should have went straight to the morgue.

I think some of the holes actually do make sense. If this is the body, the lower left hole may have been an initial chest tube. Then that bigger slice above that a thoracotomy. These are actually pretty common holes for trauma patients with gunshot injuries to chest. That big open chest slice may have been for the very purposes of CPR (open chest CPR). And, yeah, of course this is a HIPPA violation, but, well, fuck this dude if it's really the bomber.

White guys are fine. At the top of every single field. And I mean everything. Well, not sports but then again, that's for amusement only. And that's what the blacks are good for. Amusement  Lips sealed

And yes, I know my post sound racist. And no, I'm not racist at all. I think Wiggs have a good attitude for a black guy. He gets the fuck on with things and don't dwell like other black douches

Very keen observation. Republicans "lost" the election, but Obama lost the white male vote...and it's white males who have the money and who run the world. That's why the status quo doesn't change regardless of how many minorities vote democrat. You can't change genetics, and no matter what policies you invoke, smart people will always rule over the less smart. We've enacted every form of affirmative action possible, and has it really changed anything? Whites still have all the money, and now they are segregating themselves into the "nicer" parts of town. What's left are wastelands of cities filled with crime, minorities, and downward-spiraling home prices which drive the cities to bankruptcy since they don't get anything from property taxes. And I don't mean that in a racist way...it's happening all over, particularly in california.
10  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: If I hear one more piece of BS about Lyle Alzado!!!!!!!!!! on: January 06, 2013, 01:02:26 AM
lymphoma is not a brain tumor.   And yes, it was AIDS related.  His doctor at City of Hope is a well know AIDS lymphoma specialist.

Lymphoma can occur in the brain in various forms. Alzado had primary CNS lymphoma, I believe, which is essentially a brain lymphoma. It is not always AIDS-related. A good number of cases are AIDS-un-related, in fact. I've heard the AIDS things mentioned before, but if it's solely because of the brain tumor he had, it may be a stretch. That his doctor treated AIDS and lymphoma doesn't mean he had AIDS either. There's a specialty called hematology/oncology, and back in the day (before AIDS treatment became it's own specialty), these guys treated AIDS and cancer.

K. U guys r gonna think I'm full of shit but late stage testicular cancer that metastasized to his lungs abdomen and brain n he survived that has always been a hard pill for me to swallow.  It's bugged me for a long time. So I got up  posted this never before having heard anyone say this.  So then I just googled it n saw this.  Is this legit?

http://dailycurrant.com/2012/10/18/investigation-reveals-lance-armstrong-cancer/

I didn't read all the responses but it's not totally improbable that he beat widely metastatic testicular cancer. testicular cancer is one of the most treatable cancers...super sensitive to chemotherapy and radiation. It's one of the few cancers that even when metastatic can be cured at a reasonable frequency. I've never really doubted this part of his story.

13  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Where Do You Stand? With the Rich or Middle Class? on: November 30, 2012, 04:12:02 PM
It's not as simple as Rich vs Middle Class.

The new tax reform aims at taxing individuals who make over $200,000 at 30%.

Families that make over $250,000 at 30%.

Individuals making over $1 Millions at 35%.

Making over $250K does not qualify anyone as rich in this country, by no stretch of the imagination.

Making over a $1 Million, does not qualify anyone as rich in this country, considering how your take-home income becomes a 2/3rd's of that amount after taxes.

In my honest opinion, you can consider yourself rich when you no longer have to work for the rest of your life because (A) the money you have saved is enough to support you and your family for the rest of your lives and (B) you have money invested that can continuously bring you a return on investment by way of capital gains, which then guarantees continued growth of your wealth.

Not many Americans can claim to be that rich, hence why this tax reform is a little unfair to say the least.

"1"

Excellent point. Obama's definition of "rich" is bunk to say the least. I'm a physician living in Los Angeles, and I'm by no means living a life of excess in spite of qualifying for the highest tax rate. Nonetheless, Obama and the media have cultivated a culture of jealousy of the successful that I'm even beginning to see among my patients (snide remarks about my car, for example, by people who are lucky that I'm even willing to take their insurance since it reimburses so poorly). It seems that anybody who makes more than you is "rich" these days.
14  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Does a woman lose all respect for you when you start giving her money? on: November 27, 2012, 11:39:52 PM
so many dumb fucks in this thread, if you want to fuck a hot girl you are going to pay one way or the other and there is no way around it. now if like fucking plain looking women then that is a different thing. the only way you fuck a hot girl without paying is if you are famous because it will be good for her profile to be seen with you.

Exactly. Hot ass chicks don't date good-looking, buff guys if they don't have money. Maybe they fuck them once or twice, but for the most part they date (and fuck) fat, old, rich dudes. Go to any club in LA and the hottest chick there is always with an old dude (or as you said someone famous.)

ha, yes. But aren't most gifted people? Even amazing athletes.

Are we slaves to our genetics?  Undecided Undecided

Bingo. It's all genetics.  “There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so.”
16  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: FUCK CANCER!!! on: November 19, 2012, 08:55:28 PM
No that wouldn't. Cancer is closely tied to cell senescence (genes like p65 and alike genes, involved in the tissue renewal/cell replication, etc.. AND - control of tumor formation). A good start would be to start actually curing the senescence, everything else is just a blow against the wind.

Tho' targeted therapies and other new kind of stuff will be available relatively soon, mortality from cancer should not be higher than from a flu currently, in like 15-20 years (progress is not linear, it's exponential, so don't base your predictions on a current pace of progress/achievements) so these in their 20's/30's should be pretty calm regarding that. But who cares - many other old age related illness will persist, a general degenaration and decay of a cellular structures. Tho' SOMEHOW (!) dieing from cancer is "wrong", but dieing from an old age is considered "natural" and even "good" (da fukk?)..

Targeted therapies are useful in a few select cancers and even then the effects are short-lived. Off the top of my head, I can think of one or two cancers-CML and GIST-where a targeted therapy has sustained benefit, but other than that, eventually the cells become resistant.  There are so many pathways disrupted in cancer cells that targeting one specific receptor, for example (which is what these targeted therapies do), will only temporarily halt growth, but never cure the patient. The bottom line is the best way to cure cancer is to catch it early before it's spread. After it's spread, it's acquired enough genetic changes to make it almost impossible to cure (save for the few exquisitely chemo-sensitive cancers). And in case you can't tell from my screen name, I treat this stuff for a living.
17  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: FUCK CANCER!!! on: November 18, 2012, 05:41:42 PM
There's way more money in actually CURING cancer as it's so prevailent, no need for these conspiracy theories. That aside - do any of you have at least a basic understanding of what actually IS cancer and how it begins/evolves/etc..? I guess - no, as it's a VERY complicated dissease. Basically - the day cancer will start to seriously go away, will be the day we'll be able to control the cellular processes anough to make AGING slow down/stop or even - reverse.
FUCK AGING, not cancer, as it's the MAIN culprit for basically all the major disseases (which not by a mistake are called "Old age dissease"). I'm amazed how majority of people are still living in that "deathist" trance, feeling helpless, etc.. when IN FACT - that process is controllable, it's just a matter of time AND funding) before it'll be taken under a serious control. Worry about that, not about cancer, cardiovascular dissease or other shit, that's just "fixing" the consequences, not the main cause). SOme of you may get cancer, some CVD, some alzheimers and all the other big "names", but one thing that will haunt all is AGING, how about beating this one? Yeah, I'm pretty sure not many of people are capable of thinking "outside the box", but these who are - support the initiatives like SENS, The Manhattan project, etc..

Exactly. All this talk about "holding back" a cure for profit is fu**ing nonsense. Cancer is an exceptionally complicated disease with no two cancers the same. Each cancer has a unique genetic profile even if it originates from the same type of cell. So there will never be a "cure" for cancer. More important than anything, these cancer cells are ALMOST normal, meaning it isn't easy to selectively kill them over the normal cells. That's why chemotherapy is associated with such serious side effects. The principles of microevolution are also very much at work in cancer biology. By the time a cancer is discovered, it's replicated to billions of cells. And when you have billions of cells, there is a damn good chance that one of them will have "accidentally" accumulated a mutation that renders it resistant to medication.

Roll Eyes

This is precisely what it prevents, the crowding of ER`s.

LOL, you obviously don't know how medical reimbursement works. Try making an appointment with a local private doc when you have medicaid. Ain't gonna happen. Even Medicare patients (which pays a hell of a lot better than medicaid) have a hard time finding docs these days. Through Obamacare, a large percentage of the newly insured poor are going to be shuttled to medicaid which means they go to county hospitals or ridiculously busy academic centers where the wait times are already weeks for appointments and where they are having a hell of a time recruiting non-foreign grads to primary care medicine. Your only chance for care when it takes weeks to get an appointment is the ER. Urgent cares typically do not accept medicaid patients, and even the docs at the academic centers who do have their own clinics do whatever they can to fill their schedule with private patients first since they are still ultimately reimbursed based on the money they bring in.
19  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Papa's John Pizza Exposed on: November 15, 2012, 09:20:26 PM
you make a great point.

oversimplification. Most "sick" people with contagious diseases handling food have illnesses that a doctor can't do shit about anyway. (The majority of common, transmissible illnesses are not curable). It's really on them to take the day off. Giving them healthcare is just going to crowd up the ERs more with people who really don't need to see a doctor anyway.
20  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Papa's John Pizza Exposed on: November 15, 2012, 03:43:57 PM
The interesting thing to see is who is actually going to see all these newly insured patients. Much of the expansion of insurance comes from an expansion of medicaid. Well, many doctors don't accept medicaid since the reimbursement is so ridiculously low. So the newly "insured" dennys workers aren't gonna have much access to care outside of a county hospital where the wait time for care (which is already long...in some cases weeks) is only gonna get longer. So status quo won't change with regard to healthcare except now we're gonna be paying more for food, peoples hours are going to get cut, and in the end the rich guy is still rich and we all get fucked.
21  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Papa's John Pizza Exposed on: November 14, 2012, 02:24:28 PM
he's a scumbag. And under this economic system, there's nothing wrong with making profit.  But AS HUMANS when profit is put over the wellbeing of a human being or their family, it makes you a piece of shit as a human whether or not it's against the law.

There are many things that are lawful but frowned upon.  This is just one more of those.  It's the reason we're in the situation we are.

Great post, wiggs. While I support his right to make as much profit as possible even at the expense of others, that doesn't mean he isn't a scumbag as a human. That being said, there are plenty of poor people who are equally miserable humans who made choices that put them in the predicament they are in. In the end, not sure one side is more morally culpbable than the other.

"The story really begins in 1983, when Papa John Schnatter's father was on the verge of closing his tavern because of a bankruptcy. Faced with few choices, Papa John sold the only asset he had to his name: A Bumblebee-striped black-and-gold 1971½ Chevy Camaro Z28."

Love how people fail to mention this part. Guy took a huge risk and made it. Deserves every penny he makes.

most excellent post sir

you are to be commended

for a person who works a non welfare job and works 40 hours a week in usa and trys hard success is guaranteed and level of living standard no 1 by far in globe

agreed. Any idiot I know who is "hurting" either had several kids out of wedlock, screwed around in school as a kid, has a BS major in women's studies or English, has unrealistic expectations about "standard of living," and/or otherwise made shit-poor decisions in life. Problem is everyone in the US these days wants to live like the rich guy. We have tons of idiot college students who move to expensive coastal cities after graduation expecting to find lucrative jobs only to be welcomed to the harsh reality that nobody gives a shit about their degrees. Then they get all pissed off and "occupy."
24  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Equal Pay for women on: November 08, 2012, 01:45:12 PM
Women of equal edjucation and experience actually get paid slightly more than their male counterparts.  The problem is that the vast majority of women don't have equal edjucation and experience.  Men are much more likely to work ungodly amounts of hours and pursue career edjucation because they don't have to give birth to children and raise them.  A huge amount of women in the workplace are mothers who work part time at hair and nail salons and places like that.  Not at all the same as the men in the workplace.

To say that women don't get equal pay, as Democrats do, is a total sham.  It doesn't take anything else into consideration than their gender which I just showed isn't an apples to apples comparison.  It a convenient tactic to get women riled up and make them fell like they are being opressed and that is a sure way to get someone to vote Democrat.

Don't believe the hype.

Very true. In my field, private practices avoid hiring women like the plague, particularly if they are younger with kids. You just don't get the same return as you'll get out of a man because women have so many competing issues at home.  I can remember as a resident a female co-resident getting pregnant and literally taking off for 4 months by exploiting all of the various laws regarding childbirth (baby bonding time, etc.). The rest of us had to pick up her slack, which is irritating to say the least. Don't think that stuff doesn't make employers think twice about hiring women. And the women who don't want or have kids are usually ugly broads with a chip on their shoulder, and you don't want to work with those either.
25  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: The REAL Problem with Republicans is the Internet. on: November 07, 2012, 03:59:56 PM
I think you guys are failing to mention a big issue here in the united states has been the shifting demographic, particularly the increase in Hispanic voters. The recent shift towards dems has more to do with that than a dramatic cultural shift among whites. On average, white voters are still more right of center, and had the racial demographic remained the same as it was say 50 years ago, repubs would still be largely in power. The big issue has been the increasing minority populations voting for dems for totally different reasons than the white libs. There has not been some "cultural enlightenment" as white libs are claiming. Minorities vote for dems because they want free shit; it has nothing to do with abortion, global warming, evolution, gay rights, and all the other issues important to white, urban dems. Hell, the minorities voting for obama are certainly more anti-gay, scientifically illiterate, and at least claim to be more religious than the repub-voting whites.
